Nowadays mobile devices are used for various applications such as making voice/video calls, browsing the Internet, listening to music etc. The average battery consumption of each of these activities and the length of time a user spends on each one determines the battery lifetime of a mobile device. Previous methods have provided predictions of battery lifetime using a static battery consumption rate that does not consider user characteristics. This paper proposes an approach to predict a mobile device's available battery lifetime based on usage patterns. Because every user has a different pattern of voice calls, data communication, and video call usage, we can use such usage patterns for personalized prediction of battery lifetime. Firstly, we define one or more states that affect battery consumption. Then, we record time-series log data related to battery consumption and the use time of each state. We calculate the average battery consumption rate for each state and determine the usage pattern based on the time-series data. Finally, we predict the available battery time based on the average battery consumption rate for each state and the usage pattern. We also present the experimental trials used to validate our approach in the real world.

In the global Internet, a constraint-based routing algorithm performs the function of selecting a routing path while satisfying some given constraints rather than selecting the shortest path based on physical topology. It is necessary for constraint-based routing to disseminate and update link state information. The triggering policy of link state updates significantly affects the volume of update traffic and the quality of services (QoS). In this letter, we propose an adaptive triggering policy based on link-usage statistics in order to reduce the volume of link state update traffic without deterioration of QoS. Also, we evaluate the performance of the proposed policy via simulations.

The study determined the access, skills and constraints towards the usage of ICT among barangay officials. A complete enumeration technique was used due to the small size of the population. A total of 121 barangay secretaries and barangay treasurers comprised the study respondents. The findings revealed that most of barangay officials have access to personal computer at home and in the office using their own mobile data and office internet connectivity. With the support from the Local Government Unit (LGU), it was found that most of the respondents are advance and proficient in computer usage. As constraints to ICT usage, the study respondents still experienced slow internet bandwidth that makes connection and communication weak along with the low income status. Consequently, it was found that there were no significant differences in terms of skills and constraints among barangay secretaries and barangay treasurers towards using ICT. It can be concluded that study respondents prefer to use office computer to access the information they need due to the convenience and availability of resources. The study respondents were competent enough to handle their job well but listed slow internet and low financial resources may hamper their ICT usage. Research implications were also offered.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the current state of usage and education participation intention for Yaksun food according to demographic characteristics. Methods: The questionnaire for the survey was distributed to 300 students, who were enrolled in culinary education program at Seoul Institute of Technology and Education from September 5, 2014 to September 20, 2014, and 264 responses were used for analysis. Results: Awareness regarding Yaksun food was low, but the intention to participate in the Yaksun food class was high. The information searching route for Yaksun food was mainly television, radio or internet. Memil-jeonbyeong ssam was the most eaten menu item and Nokdu-Samgye tang was the most popular menu item. Among the different types of Yaksun food, vegetable dishes, steamed dishes, rice dishes and roasted dishes were preferred in this order. The most preferred educational institution for Yaksun food was the cultural center, and the most preferred educational period for Yaksun food was less than three months. The most important point in the Yaksun food class was practical application in real life. Also, the current state of usage for Yaksun food and the intent to participate in an education program for Yaksun food was statistically different according to demographic characteristics. With respect to the current state of usage for Yaksun food, the information searching route for Yaksun food was statistically different according to occupation, cooking career and lives and Yaksun cuisine type preference according to gender, occupation, income and households. Also, with respect to education program participation intention for Yaksun food, educational institution preference for Yaksun food was statistically different according to gender, age, occupation, cooking career, income and lives. Conclusion: Based on these results, this research concludes that for developing an educational program for Yaksun food, it is important to analyze the target customers' demographic characteristics and their needs. Furthermore, it shows that there is a need to develop various educational programs and menus for Yaksun food.

Under the conflicting objectives of maximum user satisfaction and fast launching, there exist great needs for automated mobile app testing. In automated app testing, detection of usage-state changes is one of the most important issues for minimizing human intervention and testing of various usage scenarios. Because conventional approaches utilizing pre-collected training examples can not handle the rapid evolution of apps, we propose a novel method detecting changes in usage-state through graph-entropy. In the proposed method, widgets in a screen shot are recognized through DNNs and 'onverted graphs. We compared the performance of the proposed method with a SIFT (Scale-Invariant Feature Transform) based method on 20 real-world apps. In most cases, our method achieved superior results, but we found some situations where further improvements are required.

This article examines how individual differences on the need for cognitive closure and demographics influence consumer perception and the usage of consumer reviews in online shopping. Data were randomly collected from 2,381 U.S. online consumer review users through an online survey. The findings from multiple regression analyses revealed the different effects of the need for cognitive closure dimensions (i.e., preference for order and structure, preference for predictability, discomfort with ambiguity, closed-mindedness, and decisiveness) and demographic characteristics on consumer attitudes, perceived online review influence, benefits, persuasiveness, and review usage behavior. Finally, practical implications and prospects for future research are discussed.

We reported researches of possibility of the usage of known electrooptical effects (EOE) for diffractive displays (DLCD). We found different EOEs provide the possibility of broad selection of steepness of volt-contrast characteristics at rather large steep of modulation without the usage polarizes. The data are represented much promising for broad development DLCDs.

This article focuses on the psychometric stability of the technology acceptance model (TAM) by Davis [8] when applied to laptop usage in the educational settings. Using a survey of 297 users, this research provides evidence that the TAM provides a model for a valid and reliable measure to use among students in assessing their perceptions of laptop usage. Given this evidence, those involved with implementation and training in laptop environment can confidently apply the instrument.

State transportation agencies utilize fleets of heavy equipment to construct and maintain roadways. Equipment cost models can be developed to forecast economic life, which is the point at which the average unit cost to date reaches a minimum. A calculated economic life and cost models can be used to quantify the impacts of management strategies applied to a fleet. The purpose of this research was to develop an accurate method of quantifying the results of management strategies applied to a fleet of heavy construction equipment. The strategies evaluated are related to the annual usage of the fleet and the size of the fleet. More specifically the methodology is used to adjust the economic model to consider a limit to the annual decline in machine usage and a reduction in the number of machines in the fleet. When limiting annual machine usage, a specified rate is applied to the usage of the fleet, while total usage is held constant. This causes aging at a modified rate. A reduction in fleet size also causes a change to the usage of a fleet as the fleet must use fewer machines to produce the same total usage.
