  • The existing building control and automation systems which have been applied to buildings are provided by many different vendors and each vendor has its own proprietary protocol. There are many problems in system integration since those building control and automation systems belong to each vendor. Also, the problems of cost and space increase, due to the usage of personal computers as the control servers of DDC(Direct Digital Control) in each facility. Those problems mentioned above can be effectively resolved by using XML Web Services and Embedded Web Server. Embedded Web Server and XML Web Services are technologies emerging out of the IT industries and there are many researches to apply them into many fields. In this paper, Embedded Web Server and XML Web Services are proposed to be used in building control and automation system to resolve problems in building system integration.

  • This paper describes the control of a health care robot (called Welfare Liferobot) with voice commands. The welfare liferobot is an intelligent autonomous mobile robot with its own control system on-board and the set of sensors to perceive an environment. It is a natural way to control the welfare liferobot by use of voice command for the usage of keyboard and mouse may present a difficult problem to the elderly and the handicapped. 스마트폰 기반 모바일거래 이용의 지각된 이용자 가치와 이의 결정요인 : 서비스 편재성과 이용자 통제성을 중심으로 (Determinants of User Perceived Value and Its Influence on the Usage of Smartphone-based Mobile Commerce : Focusing on Service Ubiquity and User Control)

  • 본 연구는 스마트폰 기반 모바일거래를 통해 이용자가 추구하는 핵심 가치가 무엇인지 파악하고, 이러한 가치가 이용행위에 미치는 효과를 검증한다. 구체적으로, 본 연구는 이용자의 지각된 가치를 시간적 가치, 기능적 가치, 경제적 가치의 세 가지 차원으로 개념화하고 모바일거래 이용에 미치는 개별적인 효과를 검증한다. 이와 더불어, 본 연구는 스마트폰 기반 모바일거래의 핵심특성으로 서비스 편재성과 이용자 통제성을 제시하고, 어떻게 이들 특성들이 이용자의 핵심 가치 창출과 관련되어 있는지를 규명하고자 한다. 스마트폰 기반 모바일거래 이용자를 대상으로 수집한 164개의 데이터를 가지고 PLS 분석을 한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 스마트폰 기반 모바일거래 이용은 시간적, 기능적, 경제적 가치들에 의해 결정되며 특히, 시간적 가치의 영향력이 가장 큰 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 서비스 편재성은 시간적 가치에 유의적이지만 기능적 가치에는 비유의적인 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 이용자 통제성은 시간적 가치 및 기능적 가치에 모두 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 종합적으로, 본 연구결과는 모바일거래의 이용이 시간적 가치에 의해 상당히 영향을 받으며, 시간적 가치는 서비스 편재성과 이용자 통제성에 의해 증가함을 제시한다.

ToA 기법을 이용한 수중 무선 센서 네트워크에서의 센서 위치 측정 (ToA Based Sensor Localization Algorithm in Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks)

  • Currently several kinds of sensor localization methods have been developed for terrestrial wireless sensor networks. This study, in order to extend the field to underwater environments, a localization technique is studied for UWSNs (Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks). In underwater environments, RF (Radio Frequency) signal is not suitable for underwater usage because of extremely limited propagation. Because of that reason UWSNs should be constituted with acoustic modems. But, to realize underwater application, we can borrow many design principles from ongoing research for terrestrial environments. So, in this paper we introduce the modified localization algorithm using ToA method which is based on the terrestrial research. First of all, we study the localization techniques for terrestrial environments where we investigate possible methods to underwater environment. And then the appropriate algorithm is presented in the underwater usage. Finally the proposed underwater based localization algorithm is evaluated by using computer.

  • 센서 네트워크에서 효율적인 채널의 사용은 짧은 시간 안에 많은 양의 패킷을 전달하기 위해 중요하며, 채널 활용성을 향상시킨다. 채널 활용성은 MAC 프로토콜의 효율성을 설명하기 위한 좋은 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 효율적인 채널 사용을 위해 B-MAC(Berkeley-MAC)에서 사용한 기법들과 TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access)를 결합시킨 MAC(Media Access Control) 프로토콜을 제안한다. 기본적으로는 backoff, CCA(Clear Channel assessment), LPL(Low Power Listen) 기법 등을 사용하여 충돌과 에너지 소모를 줄이며, 동시에 경쟁 상태에 따라 전송 방식을 다르게 함으로써 채널 활용성을 높이고자 한다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 기존의 MAC 프로토콜과 비교하여 성능이 향상됨을 보여준다.

외식업체 영양정보표시에 따른 소비자태도, 이용동기, 건강관심도, 만족도, 재방문의도와의 구조적 관계 (Structural Relationship among Consumer Attitude, Usage Motive, Health-consciousness, Satisfaction, and Revisit Intent Pursuant to Foodservice Nutrition Information Labeling System)

  • The necessity of selecting food based on correct information through nutrition ingredients included in the food is being emphasized due to the recent increase in interest of restaurant users in healthy and safe food. This study verified the structural causal relationship among consumer attitude, use reason and health-consciousness regarding nutrition information labeling and their satisfaction and revisit intent. A total of 266 surveys conducted over restaurant users residing in the Busan area was used for the final analysis of the study to attain this study's objective. The suitability of the Structural Equation Modeling and organic causation relationship was verified through the statistics programs SPSS (V 23.0) and AMOS (V 21.0) in order to attain this study's objective, and the control effect of age has been verified. The results showed that a meaningful causal relationship was confirmed in all elements excluding consumer attitude. A control effect was also confirmed in the influential relationship between use reason and satisfaction level. The results of the study suggested that the nutrition information labeling system of restaurants provides practical implications and marketing strategies for restaurant managers and government policy makers.

순차적 칼만 필터를 적용한 다중센서 위치추정 알고리즘 실험적 검증 (Experimental Verification of Multi-Sensor Geolocation Algorithm using Sequential Kalman Filter)

  • Unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) are getting popular not only as a private usage for the aerial photograph but military usage for the surveillance, reconnaissance and supply missions. For an UAV to successfully achieve these kind of missions, geolocation (localization) must be implied to track an interested target or fly by reference. In this research, we adopted multi-sensor fusion (MSF) algorithm to increase the accuracy of the geolocation and verified the algorithm using two multicopter UAVs. One UAV is equipped with an optical camera, and another UAV is equipped with an optical camera and a laser range finder. Throughout the experiment, we have obtained measurements about a fixed ground target and estimated the target position by a series of coordinate transformations and sequential Kalman filter. The result showed that the MSF has better performance in estimating target location than the case of using single sensor. Moreover, the experimental result implied that multi-sensor geolocation algorithm is able to have further improvements in localization accuracy and feasibility of other complicated applications such as moving target tracking and multiple target tracking.

Smart Thermostat based on Machine Learning and Rule Engine

  • In this paper, we propose a smart thermostat temperature set-point control method based on machine learning and rule engine, which controls thermostat's temperature set-point so that it can achieve energy savings as much as possible without sacrifice of occupants' comfort while users' preference usage pattern is respected. First, the proposed method periodically mines data about how user likes for heating (winter)/cooling (summer) his or her home by learning his or her usage pattern of setting temperature set-point of the thermostat during the past several weeks. Then, from this learning, the proposed method establishes a weekly schedule about temperature setting. Next, by referring to thermal comfort chart by ASHRAE, it makes rules about how to adjust temperature set-points as much as low (winter) or high (summer) while the newly adjusted temperature set-point satisfies thermal comfort zone for predicted humidity. In order to make rules work on time or events, we adopt rule engine so that it can achieve energy savings properly without sacrifice of occupants' comfort. Through experiments, it is shown that the proposed smart thermostat temperature set-point control method can achieve better energy savings while keeping human comfort compared to other conventional thermostat.

노인을 위한 지능형 공간환경 연구 - 주거공간의 디지털 시스템화를 위한 노인요구 조사를 중심으로 - (A Study on Intelligent Space Design Supporting the Elderly - Focused on the Needs of the Aged on Digital Systems in Residential Space -)

  • The study alms to seek a plan of applying the digital technology to housing for the elderly. The purpose of the study was to grasp the needs of the aged on 30 types of digital systems in housing. The subjects were 120 persons aged of more than 60 years and lived in Busan. Data were collected by the individual interview. The following results were drawn from this study. First, the needs of the aged on the digital systems categorized as safe and security, control of indoor environment, and housework support were very high and should be provided at first. Second, the necessary types of digital systems which should be provided to the digital home for the elderly were digital systems for heating control, health checking, sensing of fire and gas leak, and house cleaning. Also, the basic types of digital systems were ones for invasion and burglarproof, emergency, air cleaning, automatic facet, door locking, and waste collecting. Third, the Income and usage level of digital equipment of the aged influenced to the floods of the aged on the digital system. Therefore, in addition to the necessary and basic types of digital systems mentioned above, the income and usage level of digital equipment should be considered in planning the digital home for the elderly.

Dynamic Simulation of Pump-Storage Power Plants with different variable speed configurations using the Simsen Tool

  • Pumped storage power plants are playing a significant role in the contribution to the stabilization of an electrical grid, above all by stable operation and fast reaction to sudden load respectively frequency changes. Optimized efficiency and smooth running characteristics both in pump and turbine operation, improved stability for synchronization in turbine mode, load control in pump mode operation and also short reaction times may be achieved using adjustable speed power units. Such variable speed power plants are applicable for high variations of head (e.g. important for low head pump-turbine projects). Due to the rapid development of power semiconductors and frequency converter technology, feasible solutions can be provided even for large hydro power units. Suitable control strategies as well as clear design criteria contribute significantly to the optimal usage of the pump turbine and motor-generators. The SIMSEN tool for dynamic simulations has been used for comparative investigations of different configurations regarding the power converter topology, types of semiconductors and types of motor-generators including the coupling to the hydraulic system. A brief overview of the advantages & disadvantages of the different solutions can also be found in this paper. Using this approach, a customized solution minimizing cost and exploiting the maximum usage of the pump-turbine unit can be developed in the planning stage of new and modernization pump storage projects.
