Understanding the Concept of User Experience Based on the Extended Concept of Usability

  • Objective: This study presents the conceptual framework and the conceptual model to account for user experience by expanding the existing concepts of usability, in particular considering the user-interface environment in digital convergence. Background: To better understand a variety of users interacting with a converged product based on digital technologies, there seems to be a limit to consider the existing concepts of usability. All possible aspects of user's interaction with a product in a context of use need to be taken into consideration. Method: This study identifies the concept of user experience through a comprehensive literature review. Results: First, this study reviews the existing concepts of usability and user experience. And then this study describes four main components in the conceptual framework of user experience: user's internal states, user's external states, a product, and various outcomes, each of which encompasses distinct sub-components. The conceptual model of user experience accounts for how user's internal states change over time and for how different sub-components affect actual behavior of use. Conclusion: It is expected that these user experience concepts can be used in basic resources to better understand different behavioral characteristics of users and to better design interactive products in converged digital environments.

  • The many companies and developers develop new mobile applications for serving to users. But, most of it is disappeared in a brief. Because Many applications weren't satisfy the needs of user. In this paper, it analysis to reason short life of mobile application in the smart terminals and mobile applications. Therefore, we develop dynamic user usability analysis system of applications to solve the problem. User usability analysis method is surveyed users and masters at present and then occurs high cost. In this paper, we develop dynamic user usability analysis system for real users. If usage of mobile applications upgrading, benefit of developers increased and serviced target contents to users.

A Study on the Business Model of Fashion Mobile Commerce by Quality Evaluation (패션 모바일 커머스 품질 평가에 대한 비즈니스 모델 연구)

  • This study exceeds the view on the fragmentary fact-finding surveys related to the application of mobile commerce which further develops the evaluation model of fashion mobile commerce website and considers the validity of comprehensive fashion mobile commerce with quality evaluation factors according to the Task-Technology Fit. To fulfill the study objectives, a total of 433 questionnaires are being conducted to the customers with first-hand experience on fashion merchandises through mobile commerce. The judgement sampling method is employed according to the sample population ages from 20s to 30s during two months period. Based on the results of the above-mentioned path analysis, we have observed the following: First, the path relation analysis results show that the M-marketing (M-marketing) between perceived usabilities had effects to the perceived usability and the M-sales had effects to the perceived usability. Second, as seen from the fashion mobile shopping conformance (TTF), the perceived usability, customer satisfaction, and path pipe analysis result conformances between perceived values and immersions have effects of perceived usability, customer satisfaction and perceived value, and thus, indicate that the perceived usability had effects on the customer satisfaction and immersion. Third, the customer satisfaction, perceived value and immersion all have effects on the purchasing intention.

Usability Evaluation of Text-based Search and Visual Search of a Multidisciplinary Library Database (상용 학술데이터베이스의 텍스트 기반 검색과 비주얼검색의 사용성에 관한 연구)

  • This study examined the usability of text-based search and visual search of a large multidisciplinary library database to provide an empirical analysis of the acceptability of visual systems in the information retrieval environment. It also examined if there are differences in the usability assessment based on experimental order. The results indicated that the text-based search supported users' search behaviors more efficiently than the visual search. Also the text-based search was rated higher than the visual search in terms of user perceptions of four usability factors.

Usability Study of Different Types of Smart Phones Using KLM Model (KLM(Keystroke-level Model)모델을 이용한 서로 다른 스마트폰의 사용성 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the usability and user interface in different types of smart phones. KLM(key-stroke-level model) model estimation and observation values were calculated to perform 12 functional factors in 3 different groups. In results, it was found that the usability of smart phones are similar in basic and general functions. On the contrary, the usability of smart phones are different in more complex functions. Current results can be used to anticipate the future effort to improve user interface design in smart phone.

  • In this study, anthropometric analysis and usability evaluation for four-wheeled walker were carried out and then ergonomics design guidelines were proposed. In anthropometric analysis, design factors of four-wheeled walker were firstly identified and anthropometric design guidelines were made using Korean human scales. Design suitability for two typical four-wheeled walkers was analyzed in based on anthropometric design guidelines. Usability evaluation for two typical walkers was also performed through observation method and expert evaluation. Several usability problems were identified and design solutions were proposed for the design improvement of four-wheeled walker. Finally a design model of four wheeled walker considering analysis results was proposed.

  • "사용자 중심의 디자인(User-Centered Design)" 은 좋은 사용성을 가진 제품을 만들기 위한 사용되는 보편적인 접근방법중의 하나이다. 그러나 투자대비 최대의 가치 창조라는 경제성 원리와 개발 기간의 제약을 고려하면 개발 중 사용성 평가를 통해 발견된 문제들을 모두 제품에 반영하는 것은 거의 불가능 하다고 볼 수 있다. 그러므로 발견된 문제들에 대한 우선 순위를 정의한 후 가장 중요한 문제점에 대해 먼저 개선하는 전략이 필요하다. 기존의 사용성 문제에 대한 우선 순위는 주로 문제 자체의 심각도를 고려하여 결정되었다. 그러나 사용자가 인식하는 사용성(Perceived Usability)를 높이기 위해서는 사용자가 중요하게 생각하는 효용을 우선적으로 제품에 반영하는 것이 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 카노의 사용자 만족 모델을 활용한 사용자 효용과 사용성 문제들의 잠재가치를 고려한 사용성 문제 분류를 기구 사용성 평가 가이드라인의 제작에 적용하였다. 제안된 분류에 의해 디자인 가이드라인을 1) 반드시 만족 시켜야하는 제품 사용성 기준, 2) 경쟁사 대비 우위를 유지하기 위한 비교평가 기준으로 나누어 정의함으로써 단일 제품의 절대적 평가가 아닌 경쟁사 제품과의 비교 평가를 통한 개선 방향의 제시에 Kano 모델을 기반으로 정의된 사용성 문제들의 효용가치분류가 효과적이라는 것을 본 연구를 통해 보이고자 한다.

The Moderating Effects of Internet Shopping Involvement on the Relationship between Usability, Trust of Internet Shopping Sites and Customer Loyalty (인터넷 쇼핑 사이트의 사용성 및 신뢰성과 고객 충성도간의 관계에서 인터넷 쇼핑 관여도의 조절효과)

  • This paper proposes an integrated model of customer loyalty in the context of Internet shopping based on a review of two competing perspectives - transactional and relational views. The research model suggests that the usability and trust associated with an Internet shopping site are key determinants of customer loyalty. In this paper, factors such as promotion, ease of use/navigation, and purchase facilitation are posited as major determinants of usability. Trust, on the other hand, is assumed to be influenced by the quality of communication, social shopping service, and safety level associated with an Internet shopping site. This paper also asserts that the lack of consideration for individual differences is one of the key reasons for the inconsistent and mixed research findings in user acceptance literature. In this regard, the elaboration likelihood model (ELM) is considered to be appropriate referent theory as it may theoretically explain why a particular information technology (IT) related message has varying influences on different adopters. The research model comprising 11 hypotheses was derived from and validated through a survey involving 271 university students. The partial least square(PLS) method was used to test the suitability of the research model and its hypotheses. Overall, the results suggest that the usability and trust associated with an Internet shopping site play an important role in acquiring loyal customers. In particular, the user's Internet shopping involvement is found to moderate the relationship between trust and customer loyalty.

A Study on Usability Evaluation Factors for e-Book User Interface (전자책 활용에 영향을 미치는 요인 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to present a theoretical framework and practical methodology to extend the scope of Library and Information Science by incorporating the usability evaluation of e-book, which has considerably increased in proportion in the digital library. By sirveying e-book users and through statistical analysis. it was found that rebuilding a set of usabllity evaluation factors for e-books is necessary to activate e-books in the digital libraries. This study inclusively presents a conceptual model of e-book usability evaluation and suggests guidelines for usability principles.

The Development of Sensor based Healthcare Smart clothing based on usability test (사용성 평가에 기반한 센서 기반 헬스 케어 스마트 의류의 모형 개발)

  • Recently "smart clothing" has been developed more friendly and human centered design. As the diversified studies on physical factors such as comfort, usability, ergonomics and design for wearer have been examined, the smart clothing has been progressed in diverse aspects. In this research, we developed the design prototype of the bio-medical sensor based healthcare smart clothing and efficiency of clothing. As a result of study with developed designed prototypes of qualitative and quantitative tests for wearability and usability, we come up with evaluation items and supplements. In this study, based on result from evaluation on wearability and usability, the design prototype of sensor based healthcare smart clothing was revised.
