This paper proposes a vehicle ad-hoc network (VANET) routing algorithm to reduce the probability of routing path discontinuity in urban intersections. In urban intersections, the vehicles may frequently change their moving directions. It can cause the disconnection of routing path and the increase of a packet transmission delay. In order to resolve this problem, the proposed routing algorithm exploits the information of moving directions in urban intersections. In this way, the proposed algorithm can reduce the probability of the local maximum which causes the increase of the number of routing hops and packet transmission delay. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the local maximum probability by 10% and increase the successful packet transmission ratio by 5% compared to the conventional VANET routing algorithms.

Advancements in automobile industries and the communication technologies caused VANET (Vehicular Ad Hoc NETwork) to evolve to VANET-based clouds before its deployment. It is more likely that VANET clouds will replace the traditional VANET in the deployment phase. It is to be noted that an abrupt deployment is out of question because it would require mass of resources and money to do so; instead incremental deployment is more ideal. In this paper, we aim at the incremental deployment phase of VANET clouds and focus on the well-established public transport networks. Data aggregation is one of the essential aspects in traditional VANET and has been researched for quite long time. However the previously proposed schemes are still controversial. Keeping in mind the time and space prediction of public buses, we leverage these buses as potential aggregators and MG (Mobile Gateways) in VANET clouds. Buses gather cooperative whereabouts information from neighbors, aggregate that information, disseminate it to the neighbor MGs and also send it to the cloud for storage and for services exchange. In our proposed scheme, we believe that the dissemination will be effective and cover most of the urban area since at any instant of time; buses cover most part of the urban areas. Besides, the effective transmission range is higher due to tall buses.

In Vehicular Ad-hoc Network(VANET) which constructs networks without fixed infrastructure among vehicles, network topology is frequently changed due to high mobility. In case of urban model, communication disconnections caused by interruptions of communication propagation such as buildings and constructions could be often occurred. Therefore, in VANET environment a routing protocol to complement its characteristics is needed. This paper suggests an algorithm to improve the transmission performance at intersections by approaching of the distance-based broadcasting which utilizes the information of vehicle's position. By using relative velocity among vehicles, it makes the stability of route decision improved and reduces packet collisions through graded priorities in the intersection, and simultaneously improves the performance of data rate. It can be seen that the performance compared with previous algorithm is significantly improved when using the suggested algorithm in the urban traffic environment.
Vehicular Ad-hoc NETworks (VANETs) suffer from frequent network disconnections due to obstacles such as buildings even in urban environments with high density of traffic. Thus, in this paper, we propose a routing algorithm that finds optimal end-to-end paths in terms of both traffic density and distance in the urban VANET and selects the next hop with the minimum distance, while maintaining the minimum hop counts over the path. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves higher throughput and smaller end-to-end delay than Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing (GPSR) with message carrying.
Emergency Warning Service will be the most important service of VANET. Transmission delay is the most important performance criteria of the warning service. Most legacy research takes a way to minimize the packet collision. However those approach has a critical weak point on urban environment where there is a blind area of electric wave. So another issue is required in order to provide enhanced warning message propagation technique to overcome the urban environment problem. In this paper, I proposed an enhanced warning message propagation scheme in the poor electric wave environment as the intersection area. Proposed scheme forwards the warning message to the blind area by enhanced forwarding node selection technique. For efficiency of warning message propagation, I suggest forwarding priority for decision of forwarding node. And the node has a direct mode or redirect mode depending on neighbor nodes. The simulation was carried out to evaluate the performance. The simulation results show that proposed scheme has the superior performance compared to legacy warning message technique.
MANET is not suitable to be applied to vehicle environments because of frequent path loss and path re-routing. To solve these problem, It is known that location-based routing protocol VANET is efficient. But, the VANET algorithm does not consider urban environments due to frequent vehicle movement and jamming by tall building. In this paper, we propose an efficient routing protocol to improve transfer efficiency and reduce transfer hop count. in urban networks.

In the last few years, the massive development in wireless networks, high internet speeds and improvement in car manufacturing has shifted research focus to Vehicular Ad-HOC Networks (VANETs). Consequently, many related frameworks are explored, and it is found that security is the primary issue for VANETs. Despite that, a small number of research studies have taken into consideration the identification of performance standards and parameters. In this paper, VANET security frameworks are explored, studied and analysed which resulted in the identification of a list of performance evaluation parameters. These parameters are defined and categorized based on the nature of parameter (security or general context). These parameters are identified to be used by future researchers to evaluate their proposed VANET security frameworks. The implementation paradigms of security frameworks are also identified, which revealed that almost all research studies used simulation for implementation and testing. The simulators used in the simulation processes are also analysed. The results of this study showed that most of the surveyed studies used NS-2 simulator with a percentage of 54.4%. The type of scenario (urban, highway, rural) is also evaluated and it is found that 50% studies used highway urban scenario in simulation.

VANET are a special kind of MANET adapted to the communications between vehicles. In this work, we propose the models used for representing the communication among vehicles, vehicles mobility features, and VANET simulator using realistic vehicular mobility models. VANET requires that a traffic and network simulator should be used together to perform this test. But, simulator tool has been preferred over traffic simulation because it simple, easy and cheap. Goal of this paper is to create a simulation of Vehicular Ad-Hoc network for urban scenario which can be used for testing purposes. Such environment can be used while designing better MAC protocols in VANETs. We are evaluating the performance of two routing protocols namely AODV and DSDV. The comparison was based on the throughout, packet loss and end-to-end delay. We found that DSDV has less throughput performance and high routing overhead than AODV. On average end-to-end delay and packet loss, AODV performs better than DSDV.

Given the bandwidth assignment for dedicated short range communications for use in vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) and the expected introduction of equipment in the next few years, we elaborate on how VANET can support infotainment services. We define an architectural model for the integration of VANETs and cellular networks, according to a push mode paradigm where VANETs are used primarily to disseminate service announcements and general interest messages. Cooperation with cellular network is addressed by comparing architecture alternatives. A set of information dissemination protocols for VANETs is compared via simulations on a real urban map. Some results from a lab testbed based on IEEE 802.11p boards are presented along with an application developed for Android operating system to demonstrate the concept of the paper.
