This primary study has some bounds md limits owing to the descriptive reviews but not detailed analyses. However, 1 tried to do the comparative analyses and case studies about location and size of rail station for future efficient use of spatial structure. Therefore, I reviewed the location of railway station and some design standards of railway station facilities by type (high speed rail, conventional rail and urban rail), and also, suggested future direction for rail station as the core of city development relating with urban structures and human settlement system reformation.

The present urban maglev which has been developed in Korea is controlled by 4-edge control method over each bogie. The control output which is derived from two gap sensors and one vertical acceleration sensor controls magnet to maintain a nominal gap. But, the gap signal acts as a big disturbance in rail joint though two gap sensors are used and finally result in unstable response and poor ride comfort. This paper treats of a method to compensate the gap signal in rail joint for the levitation control of urban maglev. The physically abnormal change of gap is detected when one gap sensor passes a rail joint, the disturbance of gap in rail joint is estimated. Finally the disturbance in gap signal is eliminated by processing the information of vehicle speed and estimated disturbance in when the other gap sensor passes a rail joint.
The rail surface irregularity is generated severely by train braking effect in the section of station. The braking force increases slip rate and friction factors caused by wheel-rail contact points. It brings rail surface irregularity as well. In this study, interactions between wheel and rail were investigated using rolling contact fatigue theory and mechanism of rail degradation through fracture mechanics. For the more, the Von-Mises stress occurred on the rail due to the interaction between wheel and rail was analyzed using 3-D finite element method. The amounts of surface irregularity of rail were measured according to accumulated passing tonnage in urban railway in fields. Therefore, the maintenance of rail should be separated by running and braking sections to prevent RCF defects.
When it comes to automatic operation control of urban rail vehicle, a PID control makes it run between stations within the fixed time and stop exactly at the stop sign on the platform, satisfying jerk limit. An optimal control is applied to automatic operation performance control to minimize energy consumption while the urban rail vehicle satisfies automatic operation condition on this paper. The control performance in terms of energy minimization along with the constraint on precision stops is compared between the optimal control and PID control.
The rail fastening system, which provides a structural connection between the rail and the sleepers, is a main track component that plays an important role in retaining the rail gauge within acceptable tolerances, as well as in passing the train load to the roadbed through the sleepers. In this paper, a modal test was first performed to evaluate the dynamic characteristics (e.g., natural frequency) of the clips of the railway fastening system under the condition of rail corrugation in urban railway operation. The corrugation-induced passing frequency was then compared with the natural frequency of the clips to investigate any resonance effect during train passage. Furthermore, a field test under train passage was conducted to measure the accelerations on the rail and the rail fastening clips as well as the strains on the rail fastening clips in the rail corrugation condition. The field measurements indicated that the accelerations on the rail and the rail fastening clips have a close relationship with the rail corrugation, but they had a minimal effect on the strains of the rail fastening clips.

Power facilities of urban rail transit substation is deterioration, and endurance limitation is coming, so urban rail transit facilities should take any necessary measure for maintenance and repair. In this paper proposes online monitoring system using the wireless communications for the urban rail transit. This system is constructed various departments; such as sensor, measurement, data communication, host computer, and power departments. It is designed to collect and save AI (Analog Input) information of the power facilities, and to analyze and display them. As a result, it is possible to prevent from any unexpected power cuts and monitor my abnormalities in real time, and to collect accumulated data for creating a better management system.
In general, the national rail system put an emphasis on distribution planing of stations for smooth operation of transporting goods, train allocation, parking, and maintenance. Since the national rail system is operated on the ground level, it is feasible to improve various aspects of the system during its operation. On the contrary, urban rail system is operated in the limited space under the ground, and thus, improving various aspects of the system during its operation is infeasible. Specifically, the urban subway system must have a comprehensive track distribution plan because the urban subway system has to operate in a limited environment such as it operates in a much shorter time period, The subway system has to be ready for various operations and events such as trains returning in the opposite direction. parking trains that need repair, parking during night time, storing various maintenance equipments, and connections to other tracks. Furthermore, considering the future extension of tracks, a comprehensive track distribution plan is a must.
This study focuses on the development of the conceptual criteria which could be applied to the speed-up strategy of urban rail operation. Down town segment or not, and peak hour or not are the criteria. The author suggests that in the case of down town segment and peak hour urban rail should take the all-stop pattern, if down town segment and off peak hour, then skip-stop pattern, if not-down town segment and peak hour, the A, B skip-stop, and if not-down town segment and off peak hour, the A, B, C skip-stop. If side lines, three rail, or 2 double lines, then express train operation is recommended in the peak hour. Then this study recommends speed-up strategies of each 8 urban lines.
Decision of operation performance mode to minimize the energy consumption of urban rail vehicle. This paper analyses how much acceleration and deceleration of urban rail vehicle should be applied andhow to choose an operation mode to minimize energy consumption when train runs between station within the fixed operation time. The decided operation pattern satisfying the minimum energy consumption becomes a target trajectory and a basis for the controller design criteria. To make this goal it grasps the characteristics of urban rail vehicle, realize operation energy model of urban rail vehicle and verify the accuracy of embodied model the Matlab simulation with the same operation result of real route. It searches for operation pattern to minimize operation energy by changing the acceleration and deceleration on the imaginative route and proposes operation pattern minimizing energy consumption by applying real operation data between Dolgogee-Sukgye section of Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 6.

In the automatic operation of an urban rail vehicle, a conventional PID control algorithm is applied to run the vehicle between stations within time limit and jerk limit. But the energy consumption in the automatic operation is much higher than in the manual operation. In this study, the optimal control algorithm for automatic operation is proposed to minimize energy consumption, which satisfies automatic operation for the urban rail vehicle, compared with the conventional PID control algorithm.
