The purpose of this study is to investigate on the water quality of the upper region of Wonchun stream located in Suwon city by chemical analysis and EROD-microbioassay methods using rat hepatoma cell line H4IIE. The water samples were collected at 6 sampling sites from sept. to Nov. 1999 and determined the quantitative toxic effects. Higher levels of BO $D_{5}$, CO $D_{Cr}$ and CO $D_{Mn}$ were determined at M6 site where the influent contains domestic and industrial wastewater. EROD activity of water samples was ranged from 3.43$\pm$0.08 to 9.05$\pm$0.10 pmol/mg protein/min. High correlation with EROD activities and COD values was observed. From the results, the upper region of Wonchun stream water area was presumed to be highly polluted with various persistent organic chemicals.s.
This study was conducted to characterize the discharge feature of pollutant load from the upper and lower watershed influencing on the water quality of South Han River using the empirical equation and Factor Analysis. The results of regression analysis between flow rate and pollutant load were as follows. In the streams of the upper watershed of South Han river, $BOD_5$ and $COD_{Mn}$ were increased as the flow rate was increased. Also, steep increases in SS and TP were observed with positive correlation with the flow rate while change in TN was slightly shown. On the other hand, in the streams of the lower watershed of South Han river, $BOD_5$ was negatively correlated with the flow rate, being decreased with the increase in the flow rate. However, changes in $COD_{Mn}$, TN, SS, and TP showed a similar trend with those observed in the upper watershed. With Factor Analysis of the water quality and various components, it was appeared that the flow rate, SS, and TP were significantly correlated each other and they were indicated as the principal component influencing on water quality in the streams of the upper watershed. In contrast, $BOD_5$, $COD_{Mn}$ and TOC were significantly correlated each other and they were included as the principal pollution component of the streams in the lower watershed. From these results, it was conclusive that the upper watershed of South Han River was mainly affected by non point source pollutants while the lower watershed was influenced by point source pollutants from the developed areas.

Citarum River is one of the important river in West Java, Indonesia. During the rainy season, flood happens almost every year in Upper Citarum Watershed, hence, it is necessary to establish the countermeasure in order to prevent and mitigate flood damages. Since the lack of hydrological data for the modelling is common problem in this area, it is difficult to prepare the countermeasures. Therefore, we used Rainfall-Runoff-Inundation (RRI) Model developed by Sayama et al. (2010) as the hydrological and inundation modelling for evaluating the inundation case happened in Upper Citarum Watershed, West Java, Indonesia and the satellite based information such as rainfall (GSMaP), landuse and so on instead of the limited hydrological data. In addition, 3 arc-second HydroSHEDS Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is used. To verify the model, the observed data of Nanjung water stage gauging station and the daily observation data are used. Simulated inundation areas are compared with the flood extent figure from Upper Citarum Basin Flood Management Project (UCBFM).
A total of 17 experimental data for the onset of slugging, which is assumed to be the precursor of the condensation-induced waterhammer (CIWH), have been obtained for various How rates of water Incorporating the most recent correlations of interfacial heat transfer and friction factor developed for a circular geometry and using an improved criterion of transition from stratified to a slug flow, two existing analytical models to predict lower and upper bounds for CIWH have been upgraded. Applicability of the present as well as existing CIWH models has been tested by comparison with two sets of CIWH data. The result of this comparison shows that the applicability of the present as well as existing models is reasonably good. Based on the present models for CIWH, a computer code entitled as“KAIST-CIWH”has been developed and sample guide charts to find CIWH free regions for a given combination of major flow parameters in a long horizontal pipe have been presented along with the results of parametric studies of major parameters (D, P, $T_{f,in}$, and L/D) on the critical inlet water flow rate($W_{f,in}_crit$ for both lower and upper bounds. In addition, two simple formulas for lower and upper bounds that can be used in an emergency for quick results have been presented.

According to Asian Development Bank report Pakistan is among water scarce countries. Climate scenario on the basis IPCC fifth assessment report (AR5) revealed that annual mean temperature of Pakistan from year 2010-2019 was $17C^o$ which will rise up to $21C^o$ at the end of this century, similarly almost 10% decrease of annual rainfall is expected at the end of the century. It is a changing task in underdeveloped countries like Pakistan to meet the water demands of rapidly increasing population in a changing climate. While many studies have tackled scarcity and stream flow forecasting of the Upper Indus Basin (UIB) Pakistan, very few of them are related to socio-economic and climate change impact on sustainable water management of UIB. This study investigates the pattern of current and future surface water availability for various demand sites (e.g. domestic, agriculture and industrial) under different socio-economic and climate change scenarios in Upper Indus Basin (UIB) Pakistan for a period of 2010 to 2050. A state-of-the-art planning tool Water Evaluation and Planning (WEAP) is used to analyze the dynamics of current and future water demand. The stream flow data of five sub catchment (Astore, Gilgit, Hunza, Shigar and Shoyke) and entire UIB were calibrated and validated for the year of 2006 to 2011 using WEAP. The Nash Sutcliffe coefficient and coefficient of determination is achieved ranging from 0.63 to 0.92. The results indicate that unmet water demand is likely to increase severe threshold and the external driving forces e.g. socio-economic and climate change will create a gap between supply and demand of water.
Purpose: To evaluate the three-dimensional trueness of upper and lower denture bases produced using a digital light processing (DLP) printer and immersed in a constant-temperature water bath. Methods: An edentulous model was prepared and fitted with denture bases and occlusal rims manufactured using base plate wax. After scanning the model, denture bases, and occlusal rims, complete denture designs were created. Using the designs and a DLP printer, 10 upper and 10 lower complete dentures were manufactured. Each denture was scanned before (impression surface of upper denture base before constant temperature water bath [UBC] and impression surface of lower denture base before constant temperature water bath [LBC] groups) and after (impression surface of upper denture base after constant temperature water bath [UAC] and impression surface of lower denture base after constant temperature water bath [LAC] groups) immersion in the constant-temperature water bath. Scanned files were analyzed by comparing reference and scanned data, with statistical analysis conducted using the Kruskal-Wallis test (α=0.05). Results: Statistical analysis revealed no significant differences between the UBC and LBC groups, nor between the UAC and LAC groups (p>0.05). However, significant differences were observed between the UBC and UAC groups and between the LBC and LAC groups, i.e., before and after the constant-temperature water bath for both maxillary and mandibular denture bases (p<0.05). Conclusion: Denture bases not immersed in the constant-temperature water bath (UBC and LBC groups) exhibited error values within 100 ㎛, whereas those immersed in the water bath (UAC and LAC groups) showed error values exceeding 100 ㎛.

In a hot water extraction process, the flow pattern of upper region in a storage tank is a major reason of mixing between hot water and cold water. In this study, the temperature distribution in a storage tank was measured to predict the flow pattern of upper region, and the degree of stratification was analysed to the variables dominating a extraction process. And also, it was found that the degree of stratification improved expecially in a low flow rate in case of using modified distributor I(DMI) as a outlet port type.

It was studied the phenomena of transient freezing of an inclined water-saturated enclosure. One side of the test section was cooled and the other sides were insulated. The effects of the initial temperature, the inclination angle on the temperature field and the shape of the ice-water interface were observed. In the beginning of freezing, with increasing the inclination angle the freezing rate was increased and in the stable density layer centered $4^{\circ}C$, the freezing was fast as the convective fluid flow became small. When the initial temperature was above the $4^{\circ}C$, the frozen thickness in the upper part of inclined surface was thinner than that in the lower part, but with time the frozen thickness of upper part was thicker than that of lower part, below the $4^{\circ}C$, the frozen thickness in the upper part was thicker than that of lower part from the begining, and above the $8^{\circ}C$ in the beginning upper part was thinner with concave, but with time thicker the upper part, vanishing concave.
Land use pattern in the Wangsuk river watershed was investigated on the bases of physiognomic vegetation maps made from the aerial photograph interpretation and field check. Landscape structure was analyzed using a GIS program supported by ArcView. Landscape structure depended on the geographical position of the river, such as the upper, middle and lower river. Watersheds of the upper and middle rivers were dominated by forests composed of secondary forest and plantation. But agricultural fields dominated that of the middle and lower river. Urban area and agricultural fields increased in from the upper toward the lower river watersheds. In addition to, a transformation of agricultural pattern into an institutional agriculture was characteristic in the middle and lower river basins. Water qualities of the Wangsuk river were usually better in the order of the upper, middle, and lower river, but they were fluctuated according to the site. Such fluctuation would due to self-purification of the river and land use pattern of the watershed as the non-point source. In this viewpoint, a strategy to manage the water quality in the level of watershed is urgently required.

The evaluation of the effluent water quality of sewage treatment plant is one of the most important factor in calculating total maximum daily loads (TMDLs). Current method to calculate 95% upper limit of effluent water quality of sewage treatment plant assuming normal distribution of data needs to be implemented in case of non-normal distribution. We have investigated the applicability of percentile ranking method as a non-parametric statistical analysis in case of non-normal distribution of data.
