In past decades, a maximum standard vessel size for chemical tankers is not normally larger than 55,000 TDW due to the characteristic of chemical product shipment which is so variable but small quantity unlike single product carries such as crude oil tankers. These days, as demand of very large chemical tanker is rising due to the change of market trend of chemical product shipment, 75,000 TDW class chemical tanker has been developed. The newly developed vessel's structure has been designed based on CSR (Common Structural Rule) for double hull oil tankers (hereafter CSR) published by IACS (International Association of Classification Societies). However, due to the large difference from typical oil tankers, many items should be specially considered such as on deck transverse and corrugated bulkheads. In addition, two longitudinal bulkheads without upper stool have been constructed in order to maximise the number of cargo tanks and the volume of each cargo tanks. In this study, key word of the vessel has been briefly reviewed and the structural reliability of the proposed vessel has been investigated.
In a composite beam, a shear connector is installed to resist the horizontal shear on an interface between steel beams and reinforced concrete slabs. The steel-wire-integrated deck plate slab is commonly used at the wide section beam. Then vertical bars are installed at the upper wire of the ends of the steel truss girder to ensure safety during the construction. The new type of shear connector is made of deformed bar and steel plates, and must function as vertical bars but must have higher shear capacity. This paper examines the ways to develop and utilize this new shear connector. From the push-out experiments, a shear connector made of a continuous deformed bar and steel plate showed a higher shear capacity and ductility than a ${\phi}16$ stud connector, and functioned as a vertical bar.

Hollow Core Slab is a very efficient system that can reduce weight and its use has increased. Void slab is a concrete slab that has voids substituted with void material. Because of its saved volume of concrete, void slab can reduce weight of slabs. Also, it can't only save concrete but also can reduce carbon-emission. However, because of the unclear bearing strength at the part of void substituted with voiding material, several problems occur in constructing field. In this study, void slab including void material was built and local bearing strength test was carried out for 3 types of load(truck load, support load and Jack support load). As a result, bearing strength of void neck and upper void material is more than allowable load. And also, bearing strength of specimens with using deck and not using deck are also over allowable loads.

Since railway bridge frequently have a chance of passing train load close to design load, it is necessary to reflect sufficiently fatigue property in early design phase for many structural details. Nevertheless fatigue cracks are reported partly in deck plate girder of railway steel bridge because of the weight and arrangement of axial load acting on railway bridge, the application of improper structural details for fatigue problem etc.. One of main cause for fatigue crack at the welded part of upper flange and web is caused by the eccentricity action of train load due to the difference of center to center spacing between the main girder supporting sleeper and the rail acting train load. For the existing deck plate girder of railway steel bridge, in this study, field survey, field measurement and a series of structural analysis were performed. In addition, the characteristics of structural behavior, the causes and repair/ retrofit of fatigue crack were examined in the target bridge.

Experiments were carried out to measure the variation of the compass error on ship's head up bearing by magnetic compass and electromagnetic compass on berthing at the pier in order to obtain a basic information on the utilization of autopilot system using electromagnetic compass in fishing boat. The wooden fishing boat, turned on attracting fish lamps of power consumption 85kW, steering magnetic compass and electromagnetic compass indicated westerly compass error with 7$^{\circ}$ and 13 $^{\circ}$~16$^{\circ}$ respectively. The FRP fishing boat, turned on attracting fish lamps of power consumption 130kW, electromagnetic compass indicated easterly compass error 19$^{\circ}$~23$^{\circ}$. The steel fishing boat, turned on ship's navigation equipments of power consumption 225kW, steering magnetic compass indicated westerly compass error with 16$^{\circ}$. While the difference of compass error using electromagnetic compass indicated westerly compass error with 68$^{\circ}$ on the upper deck when the navigation and fishing equipment turn on compare to turn off the equipment, it had easterly compass error with 16$^{\circ}$, 32$^{\circ}$, 20$^{\circ}$ on the forecastle deck, wheel house and compass deck respectively.

The purpose of this study was to calculate the temperature difference of the sectional elevation according to the asphalt thickness of the steel box girder bridge deck and provide data on the design basis accordingly. Asphalt thicknesses produced four steel box girder model specimens of 0mm, 50mm, 100m and 150mm. In each model, 17 to 23 temperature sensors were attached to upper concrete and steel box girders. Six temperature gauges were selected to compare the temperature difference with Euro codes. The maximum and lowest temperature were calculated at the reference atmospheric temperature of each model, and the temperature difference (slope) was calculated based on this calculation. Four models of temperature difference are presented at each model. The 0mm to 100mm temperature difference models showed a -0.9 to -1.5 degree lower temperature difference compared to the temperature difference of Euro codes at the top of the slab. Overall, the measured temperature difference was found to be between 5.45% and 8.33% compared to the Euro code. The standard error coefficient, which was calculated by multiplying the average temperature with the standard error, was calculated from a range of 2.50 to 2.51 times the average at the top and bottom. It is estimated that the proposed temperature difference model can be used as a basic data when calculating temperature difference criteria for bridges in Korea.

For a long times it has been believed that the Magnus effect of the rotating cylinder could be utilized for the lifting devices applicable to marine practices. It has been reported that the rotating cylinder installed on upper deck of commercial vessel could play a energy saving role however the idea might be applicable in a very rare case in ship building practices. In this study special high lift rudder system equipped with the trailing edge rotor has been suggested in correspondence with the increasing requirement of greater rudder force. Through the numerical simulation it is cleared that the trailing edge rotor could play a role in enhancement of circulation and refinement of boundary layer of the rudder system. At the same time it is found out that the lift force of the rudder system without rotation of trailing edge rotor could be doubled when the circumferential velocity of the trailing edge rotor is equal to twice of the inflow velocity.

This paper conducted a simulation to research the motion of a vessel, which had the flooding accident in the Bering Sea in 2014, thereby being flooded and un-steerable. As the wind condition was very harsh, the vessel was modeled as 3D including large upper deck structures and the Fujiwara's method was used for an estimation of the effect of wind forces and moments acting on ship. In the case of wave influence, AQWA-Drift that enables considering the effects of drift force and AQWA-Naut that enables considering the effects of green water were mainly used. Basically, loading and flooding condition were equal to the accident condition but half-drained condition was also used to consider drain ability. Furthermore, both 6 DOF and 5 DOF option that Yaw motion is fixed, were utilized to compare the steerable and un-steerable condition. As a result, the author found out that what roll angle triggers green water, how often it happens, and how the vessel moves on the stormy weather condition.

The tall and slender main crane is generally installed on the upper deck to load and unload the equipment or something heavy in the drilling rig or the ship. So the natural frequency of the crane equipment is very low, therefore, there is some possibility of excessive vibration at the emergency state due to sudden stop during the crane operation. This study describes a fatigue assessment due to heavy vibration during brake test of sudden stop because it is necessary the safety of crane is estimated against the heavy vibration. In order to find out the applied force, the vibration measurement and analysis have been performed.

Recently it was reported that the vibration problems on the oil pipe support structure of the crude oil carrier were occurred. in order to investigate the vibration characteristics and the causes of the vibration occasionally. the vibration measurements and impact tests for the oil Pipe structure were carried out. From the measurement results severe vibration was caused by the resonance between the transversal natural frequency of the structure and $6^{th}$ order excitation force of the main engine. Providing the proper countermeasures a series of the vibration analyses were carried out based on the measurement results. From the analysis results, it was concluded that the vibration characteristics of the oil pipe structure were affected by the oil pipes, support structure itself, upper deck structure and the installation spaces and the standard design was established for the crude oil carriers.
