The cases of animals unusual behavior have been reported occasionally before a major disaster occurs. Could animals unusual behavior associated with a major disaster occurrence, if so, could we foreknow a disaster occurrence? The purpose of study is to quest an answer through literature reviews on the relation between animals unusual behavior and premonitory symptoms of an earthquake. These empirical studies are classified three parts according as methodological framework; statistical analysis, experimental analysis, observation analysis. The results are simply divided as two, 'animals unusual behavior may be seen as a precursor of pre-disaster phenomena' and 'difficult to see.' A number of studies have been performed abroad, however there is no one in Korea. Most of the studies point out common limitations-difficult to verify the reliability of data, accidentally get and fewer samples of data, difficulty of ensuring appropriate data, etc. That is why more related research with animals unusual behavior and disaster occurrence is needed to validate cause-and-effect relation of animal unusual behavior and pre-disaster phenomena.

Among varieties of the mediastinal tumors, benign developmental cysts [Entergenous cysts] occur about 10% of them. From the primitive foregut, tracheobronchial tree and esophagus develop at 3 weeks of its embryonal age, and bronchogenic cyst arises from accessory or supernumerary lung bud. Usually it remains isolated with surrounding structures, and causes no specific symptoms. But few cases of bronchogenic cysts have fistulous communication with esophagus causing compressive symptoms. We report a case of unusual complicated case of bronchogenic cyst with review of literatures.

Cutaneous injuries stung by jellyfish are not uncommon in human exposed to marine environments. Most of the cases occur to scuba divers, fishermen, and travelers swimming at the beach. The symptoms vary from mild dermatosis to fatal systemic reaction. Some group of jellyfish like Atlantic Portuguese man-of-war (Physalia physalis) provokes acute severe skin injuries with systemic symptoms of nausea, bradycardia, and rarely anaphylaxis. But it is unusual case that allergic dermatitis caused by Scyphistoma which is polyp stage of jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) happened to zoo keepers working at indoor dolphin pool. This case report is about dermatosis with symptoms such as painful, irritant, itching, and erupted skin lesions on the neck and face of zoo keepers working at dolphinarium in Seoul zoo, Korea.

The radiographic diagnosis of typical Stafne bone cavity could be done easily with cyst-like round or oval radiolucency near the angle of the mandible, under mandibular canal with or without involving mandibular base, and no symptoms. However there are some atypical cases suggesting possible variations of this entity. We report a quite unusual case, where Stafne bone cavity was lastly included in the differential diagnosis list. Histological examination of salivary gland tissues confirmed the final diagnosis.

After underground excavation being introduced in dometic, many technologies have been storing up. One of them, measurement, has been recognized as an important item under excavation construction. But, unlike a large-scale construction, it was not been treated importantly at the general small-scale structures with poor ordering and original design was unchanged under construction was normal if the problem didn't occur on monitoring. In this paper, the site which safe and economical management as well as shortening construction period was made effectively using measurement result was introduced. Also, the site which was completed safely with analyzing measurement and reinforcement when unusual symptom happened was introduced. Using measurement result effectively will be able to obtain the safety and prevent unnecessary economical loss.

Colorectal carcinoma is a well-known malignancy in adults. However, it is rare in children. Besides, it also has different behaviour in paediatric age-group and usually presents with non-specific symptoms like abdominal pain, weight loss, and anaemia. This usually leads to delay in diagnosis. Adenocarcinoma in children has unfavourable tumour histology (mucinous subtype) and advanced disease stage at presentation which lead to poorer prognosis in children. Family history, genetic typing and sibling screening are essential components of management as this malignancy is frequently seen associated with hereditary syndromes. We describe a case of unusual presentation of rectal carcinoma in a 12-year-old girl.

While syringomyelia is not a rare spinal disorder, syringomyelia associated with a spinal arachnoid cyst is very unusual. Here, we report a 62-year-old man who suffered from gait disturbance and numbness of bilateral lower extremities. Spinal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed the presence of a spinal arachnoid cyst between the 7th cervical and 3rd thoracic vertebral segment and syringomyelia extending between the 6th cervical and 1st thoracic vertebral segment. The cyst had compressed the spinal cord anteriorly. Syringomyelia usually results from lesions that partially obstruct cerebrospinal fluid flow. Therefore, we concluded that the spinal arachnoid cyst was causing the syringomyelia. After simple excision of the arachnoid cyst, the symptoms were relieved. A follow-up MRI demonstrated that the syringomyelia had significantly decreased in size after removal of the arachnoid cyst. This report presents an unusual case of gait disturbance caused by syringomyelia associated with a spinal arachnoid cyst.

Pancreaticopleural fistula (PPF) is a rare complication in patients with pancreatitis. Its symptoms are similar to those of empyema or pleural effusion; therefore, it is important to consider PPF in the differential diagnosis. Herein, we describe the diagnosis and treatment of PPF in a patient presenting with unusual empyema and delayed hemoptysis.

In January 2021, unusual outbreak of shoot rot symptoms was observed in young spikenard (Aralia cordata) plants growing in vinyl greenhouses located in Chuncheon and Yanggu, Gangwon Province, Korea. The symptoms initially appeared on young shoots of the plants at or above the soil surface level. Later, the infected shoots wholly rotted and blighted. The incidence of diseased plants in the vinyl greenhouses investigated ranged from 5% to 30%. Eight isolates of Rhizoctonia sp. were obtained from shoot lesions of the diseased plants. All the isolates were identified as Rhizoctonia solani AG-2-1 based on the morphological characteristics and anastomosis test. Three isolates of R. solani AG-2-1 were tested for pathogenicity on young shoots of spikenard plants using artificial inoculation. All the tested isolates induced shoot rot symptoms on the inoculated plants. The symptoms were similar to those observed in spikenard plants from the vinyl greenhouses investigated. This is the first report of R. solani AG-2-1 causing shoot rot in spikenard.

The present case report describes a complication involving facial blanching symptoms occurring during inferior alveolar nerve block anesthesia (IANBA). Facial blanching after IANBA can be caused by the injection of an anesthetic into the maxillary artery area, affecting the infraorbital artery.
