  • The aim of this study is to investigate the actual state for the development of the thermally comfortable uniform for workers on a low temperature storage. Observation, interview and survey were executed focusing on the environment, clothing, and human factors which have effects on the comfort of workers. Of 400 distributed, 253 questionnaires were analyzed through descriptives, frequency, ANOVA, t-test, multi-response analysis, correlation analysis with SPSS 12.0. The results are following. Coming and going between a selling area and cold storages, the workers showed to experience a big temperature gap. They indicated to feel cold on face and hands which were not covered by clothing and have got sick because of low temperature. The workers wanted the uniform made of functional fabrics, especially heat insulation fabrics. Female workers rather than male workers, the older, and the longer their working period were, the more uncomfortable they revealed to feel. The workers who works on the daily products part or mainly on the freezer appeared to feel cold more than any other workers. In conclusion, it was found that the uniform which consider steady state and unsteady state heat transfer together must be developed.

  • A mathematical model was developed for the prediction of the average temperature and RDT(RM Delivery temperature) in a roughing mill. The model consisted of three parts as follows (1) The intermediate numerical model calculated the deformation and heat transfer phenomena in the rolling: region by steady state FEM and the heat transfer phenomena in the interpass region by unsteady state FEM (2) The Off-line prediction model was derived from non-linear regression analysis based on the results of intermediate numerical model considering the various rolling conditions, (3) Using the heat flux in rolling region, temperature profile along thickness direction was calculated. For validation of the presented model, the rolling force per pass and RDT measued in on-line process was compared with those of model and the results showed close agreement with the existing data. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model, the various rolling conditions was tested.

  • The two-dimensional unsteady incompressible viscous flow behind rectangular bluff bodies between two parallel plates was analyzed numerically. The steady state flow and the vortex flow behind rectangular bluff bodies in the channel were investigated for two regimes i.e., the laminar(Re = 100, 300, 500) and the turbulent flows(Re = 10⁴∼10/sup 6/). The vortex shedding was generated by a physical disturbance(6%) numerically imposed at the rear of the bluff bodies for a short time. It was observed that the perturbed flow became periodic after a transient period. And in the case of unsteady inflow, the sinusoidal pulsatile flow was applied as the inlet condition in the turbulent flow of Reynolds number of 1.0×10/sup 5/. FLUENT code was employed to solve the problems. The power-law scheme was used to get stable linearized equations and the PISO algorithm was applied to finding the solution of them.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate the dynamic characteristics of fluidic thrust vector control using the co-flow injection. In previous research, both numerical and experimental approaches for steady state were conducted to investigate operation-parameters and detail flow structure of the fluidic thrust vector control system. Based upon the previous results, numerical unsteady calculation was conducted to analyze the dynamic characteristics of jet up- and down-ward vectoring so that the transition time and the pressure distribution along the wall, and so on were investigated.

  • Steady state turbulent airflow and unsteady characteristics of generation, transportation, and recovery behavior of contaminate particles in the simplified 2 dimensional Vertical Laminar Flow (VLF) type clean room was numerically simulated using the low Reynolds number k-over bar.epsilon- turbulent model. Characteristics of airflow in VLF type clean room are greatly affected by the recirculation zone around working surface. The recirculation zone must be considered at the time of clean room design because the recirculation zone whose area increases with increment of inlet velocity exerts bad influence upon the performance of clean room in terms of particle contamination. The location of maximum particle concentration changes from the location of particle source to the recirculation zone, while averaged particle concentration is reduced exponentially with time. Recovery time of clean room with spontaneous particle generation source is inversely proportional to inlet velocity. We introduce nondimensionalized recovery time through the dimensional analysis, which can indicates the general performance of clean room with design structure change. It was identified that .tau. is independent of inlet velocity and background concentration. Therefore .tau. can be the simple factor to compare the different structure of clean room in terms of dynamic response to contamination and becomes larger with better structure of clean room.

  • In this study, pitching stability derivatives of the conical shell configuration is predicted using commercial CFD code. Unsteady flow analysis with forced harmonic motion of the model is performed using overset mesh. The test is conducted about Basic finner missile configuration. The static and dynamic stability derivatives are good agreement with available experimental data. As the same way, a conical shell is analyzed in Mach number 1.6 and various reduced frequency. The static and dynamic derivatives are obtained from the time-pitching moment coefficient histories in each of four cases of mean angle of attack. The variation of reduced frequency is not affected static and dynamic derivatives. Increasing the mean angle of attack, static derivatives are increased slowly. Comparison of the Cm curves at the steady and unsteady state results shows that the Cm curve including the damping effect is lower than otherwise case, approximately 9-18 %.

  • It is known that the analysis of thermal stresses is substantially important in optimal design of casting mould. In this paper unsteady state thermal stresses generated in ingot and mould during the solidification process are analyzed by the two dimensional thermal elasto-plastic analysis. Distribution of temperature and stress of the mould is calculated using the finite element method and compared with experimental result. The significant results obtained in this study are as follows. At the early stage of the casting process, abrupt temperature change was shown in the vicinity of the inner surface of the mould. The largest temperature gradient is occurred at the corner of the mould. In the thermal stress analysis, compressible stress occurred in the inside wall of the mould where as tensile stress on outside wall. Smaller thermal stress is observed at the rounded corner. It is also observed that the shown is influenced by the thickness of the wall. A fairly good coincidence is found between analytical and experimental results, showing that the proposed analytical methodology is reliable.

  • In this study, we performed the CFD analysis to predict the cooling performance of the motor for golf-car application. The motor for the golf-car is different from the general motors in the cooling method and the operating condition. So, it is important to predict the motor's temperature generated by the electric losses. We investigated the inner temperature rise using the unsteady state analysis and compared with the experiment for the reliability evaluation of the CFD results through the present study.

  • Tank track rubbers, which undergo dynamic stresses and strains under various road conditions, leads to a result of considerable internal temperature rise due to the heat generation. Since rubber materials are not fully elastic, a part of the mechanical energy is converted into heat because of the hysteresis loss. Heat generation without adequate heat dissipation leads to heat build-up, i.e. internal temperature rise which, if excessive, exerts a bad influence upon the performance and the life of the tank track rubbers. The purpose of this paper is to predict temperature distributions of the rubber components off tank track subjected to complex dynamic loads under various read conditions. In steady state analysis temperature fields are displayed in contour shapes, and in unsteady analysis the temperature variations of some important nodes are represented graphically with respect to the running time of the tank.

  • This paper represents the numerical analysis for microenvironments various temperature and humidity in bed mattress. He purpose of this study is for healthful bed mattress by controling a bacteria with a prediction of the vapor and temperature distributions in the bed mattress. The numerical model is one dimensional unsteady state and the governing equations were discretized by fully implicit scheme. The numerical results were compared with experimental data, and showed a good agreement with them. Specially, the excess-relative humidity shows a lower distribution near the surface of mattress, meaning that the optimum living condition for bacteria will be caused.
