  • Smithistruma japonica(lto) unrecorded species of Dacetini tribe in Korea was found in Is. Kekumdo, Chonnam Province and named Saw teeth scale ant. The form-characteristics difference between Smithistruma japonica(Ito) and Strumigenys lewisi Cameron was discribed with the result of observation by the scanning electron microscope(SEM). Total species of Dacetini tribe in Korean contained two species in two genus.

  • In this study, we report a new record of the clustered bur-reed Sparganium glomeratum (Laest. ex Beurl.) Beurl., from Yongneup Moor of Daeamsan Mt. in Gangwon-do, Korea. This species is distributed in the cool temperate and circumboreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere. As we recorded this species in a high-altitude wetland, we named it "Du-me-heuk-sam-neung" after the Korean word that translates to "Sparganium found in deep mountains." We provide descriptions of the morphological characteristics, photographs, and detailed illustrations of S. glomeratum, as well as a key to allied taxa in Korea.

  • A study on the classification of the Korean anthozoans is based on the materials which were collected during the period from October 1963 to May 1975 in the coastal seas of the South Sea and the East Sea of the South Korea. The results of the identification were turned out to be eight species, five genera, three families and one order. They are all unrecorded species in Korean anthozoan fauna. The newly recorded species are as follows: Family Alcyoniidae: 1. Bellonella rubra Brundin, 1896; 2. B. rigida Putter, 1900; 3. B. unicolor (Kukenthal, 1906); 4. Alcyonium gracillimum Kukenthal, 1906; Family Nephtheidae: 5. Paraspongodes spiculosa (Kukenthal, 1906); 6. P. hirotai (Utinomi, 1951); 7. Dendronephthya pectinata (Holm, 1985); Family Nidaliidae: 8. Siphonogorgia dofleini Kukenthal, 1906.

  • The present study on the classification and description of the marin Neogastropoda and Basommatophora was based on the materials which were collected during the period from 12 th to 17 th of July in 1989 at ten localities of Ullng Island , Korea. All of 7 families and 19 species were reported including the 16 unrecorded species from the Ullng Island as a result of this study. Among them, 3 species [Zafrona (Clathranachis) japonica (A.Adams , 1860), Enzinopsis menkeana (Dunker, 1860) and Pollia mollis, (Gould, 1860)] were new to the fauna of Korea.

  • The study on Uredinales of Korea was initiated by P. Hennings in 1899. After that abundant works were done by Naohide Hiratsuka. And Seiya Ito, P. & H. Sydow, K. Nakata, S. Takimoto, A.L. Jaczewsk, V. L. Komarov, W.A. Tranzschel and others also engaged in the research on this field. Since 1956 the author has collected the specimen in South Korea, chiefly around Prov. Kangwon, among which are found 12 species 4 genera of rusts and 22 species of additional hosts all unrecorded from Korea. The author has described in the paper 220 species 32 genera 3 families of rusts in Korea, including those collected, by this author. This works, it must be added, owe much to the literatures of Dr. Naohide Hiratsuka, Prof. of Tokyo University of Education. The author express his hearty thanks to him.

  • The fungi play important roles in maintaining the balance and homeostasis of natural ecosystems. We investigated fungal specimens indigenous to the Gayasan National Park located in the deep inlands of southeastern Korea from 2017-2020. Six fungal species in the Korean macromycota-Chiua olivaceoreticulata, Entoloma conchatum, Galerina sulciceps, Hebeloma radicosoides, Spongiporus gloeoporus, and Tricholoma sinoacerbum-were identified based on morphological characteristics and rDNA sequences. The six fungal speices were newly revealed on the Korean Peninsula, and it supports that the continuous investigaton is the best way to realize the mycosis.

  • Spiradiclis hainanensis H.S. Lo and S. purpureocaerulea H.S. Lo (Rubiaceae) are reported as new additions to the flora of Vietnam. In Vietnam, the genus Spiradiclis has been represented by only two species, S. leptobotrya (Drake) Pit. and S. caespitosa Blume. During our field investigations in the Lao Cai and Ninh Binh Provinces of northern Vietnam, we collected two interesting specimens of Spiradiclis that were earlier known only from China and unknown in Vietnam. Here, we report S. hainanensis and S. purpureocaerulea as previously unrecorded species from Vietnam. Detailed descriptions and color photographs are provided along with a taxonomic key for Spiradiclis species in Vietnam.

  • The fruiting bodies and roots of a Tuber species were collected from the rhizosphere of Quercus dentata in Pohang, Korea. The morphological characteristics of the ascoma and ectomycorrhizal roots were studied, and phylogenetic analyses were performed using the sequences of the internal transcribed spacer, large subunit rDNA, and β-tubulin DNA. Based on the features of the fruiting bodies, the species was identified to be Tuber huidongense, which has not been reported earlier in Korea. The morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis of T. huidongense are described in the present study.
