  • This study evaluated macrofungal specimens collected from the Gangwon, Jeonnam, and Chungnam provinces of Korea in 2015~2016. All specimens were identified at the species level using a combination of morphological characteristics and rDNA sequence data. Among them, eight macrofungal species, Coprinopsis romagnesiana, Daldinia loculata, Gymnopus biformis, Gymnopus montagnei, Gymnopus sepiiconicus, Hebeloma danicum, Pholiota limonella, and Russula brevipes, are new records for macromycota in Korea.

  • Aquatic oligochaete plays an important role in freshwater ecosystem. These worms, therefore, have already been extensively studied around the world. But compared to other countries with East Asia, only 48 species of aquatic oligochaetes have been recorded in Korea. This is because taxonomic study of aquatic oligochaete is in just beginning stages. Our specimens of this study had been collected from eighteen locations in Korean peninsula. Analyzing them we identified twenty unrecorded species including one species of aelosomatid: Paranais orientalis, Pristina breviseta, P. notopora, P. foreli, P. synclites, Bratislavia prosetosa, Allonais gwaliorensis, Aulodrilus pluriseta, Limnodrilus neotropicus, L. maumeensis, L. amblysetus, Tubifex ignotus, Potamothrix cf. bedoti, P. bavaricus, Peipsidrilus cf. pusillus, Psammoryctides albicola, Varichaetadrilus vestibulatus, Tasserkidrilus cf. acapillatus, Propappus volki, Aeolosoma japonicum.

The results obtained are as follow: 1. A total of seven species including 2 unrecorded species, Olethreutes hemiplaca MAYRICK. and Olethreutes doubledayana BARRET, were found as mulberry attacking leaf rollers. 2. The dominant species of mulberry leaf rollers in Korea was identified as O. hemiplaca M. followed by Adoxophyes orana B.

They are as follows; Dioicomyces anthici Thaxter on Anthicus confucii Marseul, Laboulbenia melanaria Thaxter on Anisodacthius tricuspidatus Morawitz, L. philonthi Thaxter on Philonthus wuesthoffi Bernhauer, Peyritschiella japonicus Terada on Philonthus japonicus Sharp, and Scaphidiomyces baeocerae Thaxter on Scaphisoma unicolor Achard. Among these species, L. melanaria Thaxter, S. baeocerae Thaxter and the male thallus of D. anthici Thaxter are newly described from South Korea. L. Philonthi Thaxter and P. japonicus Terada are newly collected in some places where were unlike with the examined region ago.

  • We examined endophytic fungi from the needle leaves of three species of conifers in Korea: Abies nephrolepis, Thuja koraiensis, Pinus koraiensis. Endophytic fungi were isolated from the surface-sterilized leaves and identified based on morphological characteristics and Internal transcribed spacer sequences of rDNA. Three species of endophytic fungi isolated in this study were the first reported in Korea: Cryptosporiopsis actinidiae, Pestalotiopsis mangiferae, Pyrenochaeta cava.

  • Stenomacrus deletus (Thomson, 1897), belonging to Orthocentrinae of Ichneumonidae, is newly recognized in South Korea. Most Stenomacrus species are known as koinobiont endoparasitoids of dipteran, lepidopteran, and coleopteran hosts. In this study, an additional species is recorded for the first time from South Korea. Diagnoses of genus and an unrecorded species, as well as illustrations of this species are provided.
