Development of Training Instruments on Visual functions using HMD type Display and Investigation of its Demand

  • We constructed 3-D images by HMD (Head Mount Display) type and polarization technique through which a training instrument of binocular function based on clinical vision therapy was developed and investigated its demand. To design the instrument that performs Test- Diagnosis - (Prescription) - Training - Treatment we provided a customized training method for the trainers using optical IT instruments of binocular test. Through the contents and the instruments of the vision therapy technology developed in this work we can replace the current vision test instruments to those costing 60% lower price in eye clinics and eye glasses shops. By replacing the existing vision test instruments it is possible to create a new market of the vision therapy in vision training instruments.

Visual Servoing of a Mobile Manipulator Based on Stereo Vision

  • In this study, stereo vision system is applied to a mobile manipulator for effective tasks. The robot can recognize a target and compute the position of the target using a stereo vision system. While a monocular vision system needs properties such as geometric shape of a target, a stereo vision system enables the robot to find the position of a target without additional information. Many algorithms have been studied and developed for an object recognition. However, most of these approaches have a disadvantage of the complexity of computations and they are inadequate for real-time visual servoing. However, color information is useful for simple recognition in real-time visual servoing. In this paper, we refer to about object recognition using colors, stereo matching method, recovery of 3D space and the visual servoing.

Light-Adaptive Vision System for Remote Surveillance Using an Edge Detection Vision Chip

  • In this paper, we propose a vision system using a field programmable gate array(FPGA) and a smart vision chip. The output of the vision chip is varied by illumination conditions. This chip is suitable as a surveillance system in a dynamic environment. However, because the output swing of a smart vision chip is too small to definitely confirm the warning signal with the FPGA, a modification was needed for a reliable signal. The proposed system is based on a transmission control protocol/internet protocol(TCP/IP) that enables monitoring from a remote place. The warning signal indicates that some objects are too near.

Identification of structural systems and excitations using vision-based displacement measurements and substructure approach

  • In recent years, vision-based monitoring has received great attention. However, structural identification using vision-based displacement measurements is far less established. Especially, simultaneous identification of structural systems and unknown excitation using vision-based displacement measurements is still a challenging task since the unknown excitations do not appear directly in the observation equations. Moreover, measurement accuracy deteriorates over a wider field of view by vision-based monitoring, so, only a portion of the structure is measured instead of targeting a whole structure when using monocular vision. In this paper, the identification of structural system and excitations using vision-based displacement measurements is investigated. It is based on substructure identification approach to treat of problem of limited field of view of vision-based monitoring. For the identification of a target substructure, substructure interaction forces are treated as unknown inputs. A smoothing extended Kalman filter with unknown inputs without direct feedthrough is proposed for the simultaneous identification of substructure and unknown inputs using vision-based displacement measurements. The smoothing makes the identification robust to measurement noises. The proposed algorithm is first validated by the identification of a three-span continuous beam bridge under an impact load. Then, it is investigated by the more difficult identification of a frame and unknown wind excitation. Both examples validate the good performances of the proposed method.

정상시력과 저시력 읽기에서 맥락효과 (The context effects in reading Hangul in normal and low vision)

  • 본 연구에서는 두 가지 읽기 방법으로 저시력인과 정상시력인의 문장 맥락효과를 비교하였다. 실험 1에서는 자기조절읽기(self-paced reading) 방법을, 실험 2에서는 신속순차제시(rapid serial visual presentation) 방법을 사용하여 문장과 무선단어열에서 정상시력 참가자와 저시력 참가자의 읽기속도를 비교하였다. 두 실험 결과에서 저시력 참가자의 읽기속도는 정상시력 참가자에 비해 현저히 감소하였으나, 맥락효과는 읽기 방법에 따라 상반된 양상을 보였다. 자기조절읽기를 사용한 실험 1에서는 정상시력보다 저시력에서 맥락효과가 컸고, 신속순차제시를 사용한 실험 2에서는 저시력보다 정상시력에서 맥락효과가 컸다. 본 결과는 맥락 정보가 처리될 시간이 충분히 허용되는 읽기 상황에서는 정상시력에 비해 저시력 읽기에서 맥락의 역할이 증가하나, 시간적 제약이 주어지는 읽기 상황에서는 반대로 정상시력에 비해 저시력 읽기에서 맥락의 역할이 감소함을 시사한다.

시기능 훈련방법에 의한 양안시 기능적.감각적 증상 개선 효과 연구 (The Study on the Improvement of Function and Sensation Symptoms of Binocular Vision for Vision Training Methods)

  • 목적: 이 연구의 목적은 시기능 훈련 대상자들의 시기능 훈련방법의 차이에 따른 시기능 증상 개선 효과를 조사하였다. 방법: 시기능 훈련 대상자는 안질환과 조절이상 및 수직사위가 없는 양안시 이상자 35명을 대상으로 추적 관찰하였고, 훈련기간은 8주간 매주 한번은 안경원에 방문하여 시기능 훈련에 따른 변화를 측정하였다. 결과: 시기능 훈련 대상자의 시기능 훈련방법의 차이에 따른 기능적 및 감각적 증상이 개선되었다. 그리고 Worth 4 Dot검사, 입체시 검사 및 적색렌즈 융합 속도 검사는 유사한 결과를 보여 주었다. 결론: 본 연구에서 시기능 훈련 방법에 따라 환자의 사위량, 기능적 및 감각적 증상 변화가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

편측 시야 차단이 동적균형에 미치는 영향에 관한연구 (An experimental study on the dynamic balance when obscuring vision in half of the both eye)

  • This study was conducted to find out effect of dynamic balance performance in normal adult when obscuring vision in half of the both eye and to prepare the basic data treatment of brain damage patient with visual field deficit. The subject for this study included 40 healthy right-handed and 20 left-handed were dynamic balance performance when obscuring vision in half of the both eye. who age from 20 to 30 years in normal adult without neurosurgical orthopedic, performance balance disability or other medical disorders. Of these individuals 20 right-handed and 20 left-handed were executed dynamic balance performance when obscuring vision in half of the both eye. individuals of right, left-handed were executed dynamic performance when obscuring vision in half of the both eye measure with a Balance Performance Monitor (BPM) Data print Software Version 5.3. In other to determine the statitsical significance of the result, instrumentation was used to t-test, chisquare of the SAS(Strategic Application Software) The result of the study were that: 1) Significant differences in LOS were found right-handed and left-handed subject when dynamic performance without obscuring vision and obscuring vision(p<0.05). 2) Significant differences in LOS were founded left-handed when dynamic performance were executed obscuring vision and without obscuring vision(p<0.05). 3) Significant differences in LOS were founded right-handed when dynamic performance were executed obscuring vision and without obscuring vision(p<0.05).

  • This paper reviews the published literature that is concerned with color vision impairment from industrial and environmental exposure to neurotoxic substances, and we evaluated whether testing for color vision impairment could be an affordable procedure for assessing these neurotoxic effects. In general, most cases of congenital color vision impairment are red-green, and blue-yellow impairment is extremely rare. However, most of the acquired color vision impairment that is related to age, alcohol or environmental factors is blue-yellow impairment. Therefore, many studies have been performed to identify this relationship between exposure to neurotoxic substances, such as organic solvents and heavy metals, and the prevalence of blue-yellow color vision impairment. The test for color vision impairment is known to be very sensitive to the early signs of nervous system dysfunction and this can be useful for making the early diagnosis of neurotoxic effects from exposure to very low concentrations of toxic substances.

Development of Mission and Vision of College of Korean Medicine Using the Delphi Techniques and Big-Data Analysis

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to introduce the procedures and methods for mission and vision development at a College of Korean Medicine (CKM), which established its mission and vision using Delphi techniques and big data analysis on various members and stakeholders. Methods: A total of 754 participated in the Delphi survey. A Delphi survey was conducted with professors, students, parents, and alumni stakeholders to establish Daegu Haany University CKM's mission and vision. The data were analyzed through content analysis and big data analysis of keywords. Results: As a result of the study, the most important keywords to be included in the mission and vision were "professionalism" and "morality." Included in the mission were the concepts of "morality" and "professionalism," which were emphasized by the four groups. All surveyed stakeholders regarded "scientific," and "global" as important themes to be included in the vision. Conclusions: The present study confirmed that there were themes commonly prioritized by all stakeholders for college mission and vision, and a difference in demand for educational goals between professors and students was also affirmed. Therefore, institutions of higher learning should develop their mission and vision by appropriately reflecting the needs of the interest groups.

봉독약침이 류마티스 관절염 환자의 기능회복 및 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Bee Venom Acupuncture on the Rehabilitation and Quality of Life in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients)

  • Objective: To evaluate the effects of bee venom acupuncture(BVA) on the rehabilitation and quality of life in rheumatoid arthritis(RA) patients Methods: Patients with RA were treated with the BVA therapy twice a week for 3 months. Tender joint counts, swollen joint counts, morning stiffness, Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate(ESR), C-reactive protein(CRP), patient global assessment, physician global assessment, Korean health assessment questionnaire(KHAQ) were estimated and analyzed before and after BVA therapy. Results: Tender joint counts, swollen joint counts, morning stiffness showed significant decrease after BVA therapy. But, as acute inflammatory reactants, ESR showed no significant difference and CRP showed significant increase after BVA therapy. Patient global assessment, physician global assessment, and KHAQ index showed significant improvement after BVA therapy. Conclusions: BVA therapy can improve rehabilitation and health-related quality of life in RA patients as well as clinical symptoms and signs. Further study is required in more population with large scale including acute inflammatory reaction of BVA therapy.
