  • Gastric duplication cyst is a rare congenital anomaly of the gastrointestinal tract and is especially uncommon in adults. Most cases in adults are discovered incidentally on radiological examination or gastric endoscopy. Accurate diagnosis of these cysts before resection is difficult. Differential diagnoses are varied. Malignant transformation of a gastric duplication cyst is very rare. We present three cases of asymptomatic noncommunicating gastric duplication cysts in adults.

  • Brachydactyly type C is a limb malformation characterized by shortening of the second, third, and fifth middle and/or proximal phalanges, but it has variable phenotypic expressivity. Mutations in the growth differentiation factor-5 (GDF5) gene cause isolated brachydactyly C. Herein, we report a familial case with isolated brachydactyly type C characterized by brachymesophalangy of both second and third digits, with a GDF5 missense mutation, and discuss the phenotypic variability of the condition. Identifying more cases with genetic confirmation will help elucidate the clinical and genetic characteristics of this condition in the Korean population.

  • The major hurdle of conventional chemotherapeutics is the toxicity to normal tissue. The possible therapeutic advantage(s) of nano-particle encapsulated chemotherapeutics (nano-molecules) may be the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect. Nano-molecules with increase volume may incorporated into the tumor tissue selectively, which is composed of rather sparse structure. EPR effect may cause of increased effectiveness with lower tixicity to normal tissue of nano-chemotherapeutics. (omitted)
