Let A and B denote a point, a line or a circle, respectively. For a positive constant $a$, we examine the locus $C_{AB}$($a$) of points P whose distances from A and B are, respectively, in a constant ratio $a$. As a result, we establish some equivalent conditions for conic sections. As a byproduct, we give an easy way to plot points of conic sections exactly by a compass and a straightedge.

본 연구는 최근 개정된 교육과정과 관련하여 우리나라와 미국, 싱가포르, 영국, 일본, 호주의 중학교와 고등학교 교육과정을 비교 분석함으로써 앞으로의 수학 교육과정 개발을 위한 기초를 제공하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 미국, 싱가포르, 영국, 일본, 호주의 학교체계와 교육과정, 대학입학시험의 특징과 중학교와 고등학교 내용 체계의 특징을 간단히 살펴보고, 우리나라와 외국 교육과정의 성취기준과 교과서 및 대학입학을 위한 평가요목을 중심으로 중학교와 고등학교의 수학 내용 요소, 이수 계열, 나선형 구성 방식 여부를 비교 분석하였다. 이런 비교 분석 결과를 바탕으로 이후의 우리나라 교육과정 개발을 위한 시사점으로 해석, 기하, 통계와 확률 영역에서의 내용 요소에 대한 재고. 나선형 구성 방식에 대한 재고, 개인의 진로에 대한 다양한 선택권과 평가에의 반영을 제안하였다.

P대학에서는 교양수학 교과에 대한 기초학력 부진학생들의 문제해결력 향상을 위하여, 대학 교육역량강화사업의 일환으로 수학카페 운영과 함께, 기초수학 특강, 개인지도 및 컴퓨터 활용학습 등을 시행하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 여름 및 겨울방학을 이용하여 기초수학 특강을 실시하고, 그 결과를 중심으로 수학에 대한 기초학력 부진학생들을 위한 효율적인 기초수학 학습지도 방안을 살펴보고자 한다.

This study is a literature research on critical mathematics education. In this study, we analyzed the literature about critical theory and critical education, especially focused on Freire's educational works. And also, we reviewed studies and lesson examples about critical mathematics education. The purpose of this research is to improve understanding about critical mathematics education. We found the connection between the goals, teaching methods and contents of critical mathematics education and Freire's theory of critical pedagogy. Critical mathematics lessons stimulated student's sense of social agency and induced student's inquiry. Critical mathematics education has a merit on aspect of mathematical connection and communication by adopting social issues and student's discussion in mathematics lessons. Although there are many obstacles to overcome, critical mathematics education is one of the educational direction to seek.

We continue the study of power-Armendariz rings over IFP rings, introducing $k$-power Armendariz rings as a generalization of power-Armendariz rings. Han et al. showed that IFP rings are 1-power Armendariz. We prove that IFP rings are 2-power Armendariz. We moreover study a relationship between IFP rings and $k$-power Armendariz rings under a condition related to nilpotency of coefficients.

The purpose of this research is to identify the level of number sense, the attitude toward mathematics and the mathematics teaching efficacy of pre-service elementary special education teachers and to verify the mediation effect of mathematics teaching efficacy between number sense and attitude toward mathematics. 70 university students participated in research. The results from this study are as following: First, the level of number sense among pre-service elementary special education teachers was not so high. They had negative attitude toward mathematics and their mathematics teaching efficacy was on the average level. Second, positive correlationships were shown between number sense and attitude toward mathematics and between number sense and mathematics teaching efficacy. The mediating effect of the mathematics teaching efficacy in the relationship between number sense and attitude toward mathematics was found. The limitations of the study and directions for future studies were discussed.

Practical Mathematics is one of the career elective subjects in the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum for high school. This study examined how well the practical mathematics textbooks reflect the recommendations and visions suggested by related professions and organizations with respect to career preparation, especially for students enrolling in engineering industry-focused specialized high schools. Also, this study looked more closely into the contents of practical mathematics in terms of the consistency among different textbooks and the advancement from middle school contents in similar domains.
