  • Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease with autosomal recessive inheritance and is common in Caucasian people. The prevalence of this disease is between 1/2,000 and 1/3,500 live births, and the incidence varies between populations. Although the CF transmembrane conductance regulator gene is expressed in the kidneys, renal involvement is rare. With advances in the treatment of CF, life expectancy has increased, and some previously unobserved disease associations are now seen in patients with CF. It is important to follow patients with CF for possible abnormalities that may accompany CF. In this paper, we present two rare cases of CF accompanied by nephrotic syndrome.

  • A series of structurally diverse amide derivatives of [6-(3,5-dimethyl-4- chloro-pyrazole-1-yl)-3(2H)-pyridazinone-2-yl]acetic acid were prepared and tested for their in vivo analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity by using p-benzoquinone-induced writhing test and carrageenan induced hind paw edema model, respectively. The analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity of the compounds, 7c, 7d and 7k were found to be equipotent to aspirin (as an analygesic) and indometacin (as an anti-inflammatory drug), respectively. The other amide derivatives generally resulted in lower activity on comparision with reference compounds.

  • Veterinary education is the foundation of veterinary services in the country. Starting from the service sector in the army, veterinary education and practice in Thailand have been standardized and progressed toward international veterinary standards. The 6-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine core curriculum is deployed to develop the curriculum for each Veterinary Education Establishment (VEE). The challenges for veterinary education and practices reflect the country's expectations of veterinary services. With regional and global collaboration, the VEEs have been developing tools and learning platforms for delivering qualified veterinary graduates that fit fast-growing society needs.
