  • This study was performed to propose a development guide for the periphery of local industrial park in the region of Hongseng-gun located at the mid-west of Chungnam province., which is a representative agrarian society, has been approached to a super-aged society where the region shows a continuous decrease in population, and the composition ratio of old ages is about 17.1%. Also, the region is a period of a low ebb due to the traditional agriculture based industrial structure in producing mainly simple productions. Many local governments in agrarian and fishing regions have been efforted for luring some businesses in their regions by constructing industrial complex competitively in order to solve such structural problems in such local regions. However, in some cases, these efforts cause certain destructions in the local original natural environment due to such development of industrial complex and the decrease in the settlement environment of residents. The objective of this study is to establish a local development plan for building the sustainable and comfortable settlement environments based on the settlement of the residents and the labors in such industrial complex by preventing sprawl developments in the construction of general industrial complex. This study was processed as following procedures. First, this study drew the trend in the change of the local society of H-gun through collecting literatures and analyzing it. Second, this study proposed a proper level of settlement environments required to the development of surroundings in such industrial complex based on the survey of the consciousness of residents using a statistical method. Finally, this study proposed a development guide for the surroundings based on the proposed level of settlement environments.

  • Urban green spaces, as a means to mitigate social problems and environmental risks, are getting more attention in evaluating urban environment. The inequity of green space distribution is becoming a major issue in urban planning and management. This study investigated the characteristics of green space in 3 districts (Jung-gu, Dongdaemun-gu, Seongdong-gu), that are composed of 46 administrative divisions in central Seoul, to analyze the environmental equity of urban green spaces. The correlations between the amount of green space, including the coverage of street trees, and the socioeconomic status of each administrative division were analyzed. To deduce the effects of plant coverage on the urban temperature regime, the relationship between the normalized difference of vegetation index (NDVI) and land surface temperature (LST) was analyzed. The research revealed that the mean NDVI of an administrative division was negatively correlated with the percentage of basic living recipients and disabled people. The LST of a division with low NDVI was higher due to the lack of green coverage. Such environmental inequities were closely related to residential building type, which was strongly affected by the economic status of residents. The LST of an apartment area was $2.0^{\circ}C$ lower than that of single-family houses and multi-housing areas. This is expected as the average NDVI of the apartment area was more than twice as high as the other environments considered in this study. The inequity can be exacerbated without urban planning which is deliberately designed to reduce it.

  • Recently, the gated community has been increasing due to various reasons such as demand for differentiated areas and security, but various problems have been raised, including regional conflicts, traffic restrictions and disconnection of surrounding areas. Therefore, this study empirically considered what kind of spatial effect the gated community has on the surrounding area by analyzing the vitality using floating population big data and analyzing pedestrian accessibility using network analysis and social network analysis. As a result, it was found that the overall vitality in the study area was greatly affected by the land use and the building use. However, focusing on apartment complexes, even in the same land use, when the form of the complex is open to the outside, there is a lot of floating population, so the vitality is high. In terms of accessibility, assuming that the gated community is open, it was found that as the physical connectivity improved, there were more roads for pedestrians to choose from, and the accessibility improved as traffic and exchanges occurred in the disconnected space. The value of improving property rights and residential environment is also precious, but it is necessary to review how to reflect the improvement of local permeability in enhancing the publicness of cities and the value and direction of communities that can coexist with the region.

  • A BIM, which is being applied actively to the construction and civil construction industries, is a technology that can maximize efficiency of various sectors from initial planning and design, construction, and maintenance, to demolition; however, it is in the introductory phase in the field of domestic landscaping. In order to introduce and promote BIM in the field of landscape design, this study developed a prototype of a library and template and analyzed the performance of trial application. For the development of a prototype, annotations and types were analyzed from floor plans of existing small parks, and components of landscape template were deduced. Based on this, play facilities, pergola, and benches were madeintofamily and templates, making automatic design possible. In addition, annotations and tags that are often used in landscape design were made, and a 3D view was materialized through visibility/graphic reassignment. As for tables and quantities, boundary stone table, mounding table, summary sheet of quantities, table of contents, and summary sheet of packaging quantities were grouped and connected with floor plans; regarding landscaping trees, classification criteria and name of trees that are suitable for domestic situations were applied. A landscape template was created to enable the library file format(rfa) that can be mounted on a building with BIM programs. As for problems that arose after the trial application of the prepared template, some CAD files could not be imported; also, while writing tables, the basis of calculation could not be made automatically. Regarding this, it is thought that functions of a BIM program and template need improvement.

  • In Korea, the address-point matching technique has been used to provide geocoding services. In fact, this technique brings the high positional accuracy. However, the quality of geocoding result can be limited, since it is significantly affected by data quality. Also, it cannot be used for the 3D address geocoding and the reverse geocoding. In order to alleviate issues, the paper has implemeted proposed geocoding methods, based on street-based addresses matching technique developed by US census bureau, for street-based addresses in Korea. Those proposed geocoding methods are illustrated in two ways; (1) street address-matching method, which of being used for not only 2D addresses representing a single building but also 3D addresses representing indoor space or underground building, and (2) reverse geocoding method, whichas converting a location point to a readable address. The result of street-based address geocoding shows 82.63% match rates, while the result of reverse geocoding shows 98.5% match rates within approximately 1.7(m) the average position error. According to the results, we could conclude that the proposed geocoding techniques enable to provide the LBS(Location Based Service). To develop the geocoding methods, the study has perfoermed by ignoring the parsing algorithms for address standardization as well as the several areas with unusual addresses, such as sub-urban areas or subordinate areas to the roads, etc. In the future, we are planning the improved geocoding methods for considering these cases.

  • A higher spatial resolution is preferable to support the accuracy of detailed climate analysis in urban areas. Airborne LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) and satellite (KOMPSAT-2, Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-2) images at 1 to 4 m resolution were utilized to produce digital elevation and building surface models as well as land cover maps at very high(5m) resolution. The Climate Analysis Seoul(CAS) was used to calculate the fractional coverage of land cover classes in built-up areas and thermal capacity of the buildings from their areal volumes. It then produced analyzed maps of local-scale temperature based on the old and new input data. For the verification of the accuracy improvement by the precise input data, the analyzed maps were compared to the surface temperature derived from the ASTER satellite image and to the ground observation at our detailed study region. After the enhancement, the ASTER temperature was highly correlated with the analyzed temperature at building (BS) areas (R=0.76) whereas there observed no correlation with the old input data. The difference of the air temperature deviation was reduced from 1.27 to 0.70K by the enhancement. The enhanced precision of the input data yielded reasonable and more accurate local-scale temperature analysis based on realistic surface models in built-up areas. The improved analysis tools can help urban planners evaluating their design scenarios to be prepared for the urban climate.

  • The purpose of this study is to quantitatively and effectively evaluate the factors affecting flood damage by watershed. National Water Resource Plan(MOCT, 2001) has been developed Potential Flood Damage(PFD) which indicates flood vulnerability. But, it is only a simple grouping and it does not provide guidelines for flood control planning based on detailed evaluation of sub-components. In this study, we used PFD in the Han River basin according to the method applied in the National Water Resource Plan (existing method) and improvement based on actual flood hazard area and data. As an application method, after analyzing by yearly change(2009~2014), we compared and analyzed the tendency of the sub - components that constitute the potential and risk rather than the current grouping. As the result, it was possible to accurately evaluate the existing and improved methods, and it was possible to derive the vulnerability rankings, but the existing methods have different results from the actual watershed tendency. Therefore, the PFD of the improvement method that correctly reflects past history and watershed characteristics is more appropriate for the evaluation of flood vulnerability in the watershed. In addition, it is reasonable to establish a flood control plan referring to this and prevent flood damage in advance.

  • The population is concentrated in the metropolitan areas in Korea, and low-density residential areas are transforming into high density residential areas through redevelopment to meet this demand. However, large-scale redevelopment in a short period of time has a negative impact on the urban climate, such as generating a heat island effect due to the reduction of urban green areas. In this study, the change in surface temperature from 2013 to 2022 in the redevelpment areas of Godeok-dong and Dunchon-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, was analyzed using Landsat 8 satellite images. In the Godeok-dong area, the difference in surface temperature was analyzed for the target redevelopment area, forest area, mixed forest and urban area, and low density residential area. In the Dunchon-dong area, the difference in surface temperature was analyzed for the target redevelopment area, forest area, and low density residential area. The difference in surface temperature was analyzed through multiple regression analysis conducted yearly over the three different stages in redevelopment period. The results from the multiple regression analysis show that in both areas, the land surface temperature of target redevelopment area was higher than that of the forest area and lower than low density residential area. It can be seen that these results occurred because the low-density residential area in Godeok-dong and Dunchon-dong had a lower green area ratio and a higher building-to-land ratio than the target redevelopment area. The results of this study suggest that even if low-density residential areas are transforming into high-density areas, adjusting the management of green areas and building-to-land ratio can contribute to lessen urban heat island effect.

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the background of the plans and the spatial characteristics of the garden at the Anglo-Korean School, an educational institution established in Gaeseong in 1906 by Yun Chi-ho and the American Methodist Church. The time scope of the study is from 1906, when the school was opened, to the early 1920s, when the basic building structure of the school was completed. The spatial scope is the school complex, located in Gaeseong, and its affiliated facilities. The contents of the study include the planning background and purpose, spatial layout, and plants used in the school garden. This study reviewed Yun Ch'i-ho's papers and Warren A. Candler's papers at Emory University, documents, photos, and maps produced in the early 20th century. The results show that the school garden was first mentioned at the school's opening and that with a strong will, Yun Chi-ho insisted on establishing a school garden. The garden was located around the engineering department building and was divided into several sections and lots. Economic plants, such as fruit trees, comprised the garden and were sourced from the Methodist Church of the South, USA. This study reveals that the garden at the Anglo-Korean School functioned as a training ground for agriculture and horticulture education and was differentiated from Seowon, a traditional Korean academy that symbolically spaced Neo-Confucianism and that emphasized the views of the surrounding nature during the Joseon Dynasty.
