  • This study aims to examine the level of students' satisfaction toward the services (i.e. accommodation facilities, transportation facilities, and recreation and sports facilities) provided by the public universities in Bangladesh. The study also aims to identify the major service factors that influence students' satisfaction in public universities in the country. A cross-sectional survey was conducted at six public universities to obtain primary data. A standardized questionnaire was distributed to a total of 500 randomly selected students to collect the data. Several statistical tools, namely, reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were employed to analyze the data. The findings revealed that recreation and sports facilities have the strongest impact on students' satisfaction in the public universities in Bangladesh. Transportation facilities also have positive and significant impact on student's satisfaction. However, the study found a negative correlation between accommodation facilities and students' satisfaction indicating that students are not satisfied with the accommodation facilities provided by the public universities. The findings of this study provide an insight about students' satisfaction that might be useful to authorities of the public universities and other higher educational institutions in designing policies for various services and facilities to be provided to their students.

  • Today rapidly changing internal and external environment of the universities such as the reduction of freshmen quota forces most universities to be facing a dangerous existence. It is an urgent thing for the universities to secure finance and good students. Because it was thought that to know freshmen's recognition of their choice of colleges would serve to establish the screening system of each university, we studied it through the survey of the freshmen in some universities. We randomly chose some national universities, private universities and educational universities to investigate who are responsible for their choice of colleges. It is shown that the influence of their high school teachers upon their students’ choosing universities is no more than 10%. As a result, the establishment of proper policy of admission to each university on its own that makes use of the characteristics of the region and the university will be effective in choosing good students.

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of smokeless tobacco consumption among male students of Zahedan universities and associated factors in 2012. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 431 students were selected from the universities of Zahedan using multi-stage random cluster sampling. The data collection tool was a questionnaire including questions about demographic information, history of smokeless tobacco consumption, and awareness of smokeless tobacco hazards. Data were analyzed by SPSS19 using Chi-square test and multinomial logistic regression, with p<0.05 considered significant. Results: At the time of conducting this study, 102 students (23.7%) had already consumed smokeless tobacco and 49 students (11.4%) were current users (consuming at least once in 30 days before the study). There was a significant relationship between history of smokeless tobacco consumption, university/college, place of living, mean GPA, and mother's education level (p<0.05). Also there was a significant association between knowledge and prevalence of smokeless tobacco use (p<0.001). Conclusions: There is a relatively high prevalence of smokeless tobacco consumption among the male students of universities of Zahedan, which shows the need to emphasize the provision and implementation of prevention programs in universities.

  • Private universities are going through difficulties in improving facilities for the disabled students due to financial reasons. Extension elevators, grips on both sides of the hallways for the visually disabled, handrails on the walls of ramps and stairs in the existing building, and improvement of the dormitory chambers are some items of such facilities in this analysis of MyongJi University. Hence, financial support based on the long-term plans and evaluations from the National Treasury to private universities with financial stringencies, will be a critical promotion in appropriating educational budgets and executing corresponding funds. This will eventually bring equal development of educational welfare for the disabled students among national, public, and private universities.

  • This study is conducted to determine whether Chinese students currently attending Korean universities are satisfied with their university life and to identify the problems they are experiencing. A survey was conducted with the graduate students attending K University and 202 students participated in the study. According to the study, most students are very satisfied with Korean universities and would recommend them to their friends. Regardless of gender, degree program, or major, the most difficult aspect of school life is understanding and communicating in class due to language problems. Even students with high TOPIK scores experience difficulties in communication and comprehension during class. One of the most significant problems that Chinese students have is a lack of interaction with Korean students. They want to interact with Korean students through club and team activities at the university. They requested that the university provide international students with opportunities to participate in various programs, such as sports activities, to help overcome feelings of alienation and isolation. Based on the study results, suggestions to support Chinese students to adjust educational environments in Korea were presented.
