  • A holomorphic function f on D = {z : │z│ < 1} is called uniformly locally univalent if there exists a positive constant $\rho$ such that f is univalent in every hyperbolic disk of hyperbolic radius $\rho$. We establish a characterization of uniformly locally univalent functions and investigate uniform local univalence of holomorphic universal covering projections.

  • An entire function $f\;{\in}\;H(\mathbb{C})$ is called universal with respect to translations if for any $g\;{\in}\;H(\mathbb{C}),\;R\;>\;0,\;and\;{\epsilon}\;>\;0$, there is $n\;{\in}\;{\mathbb{N}}$ such that $$\mid$f(z\;+\;n)\;-\;g(z)$\mid$\;<\;{\epsilon}$ whenever $$\mid$z$\mid$\;{\leq}\;R$. Similarly, it is universal with respect to differentiation if for any g, R, and $\epsilon$, there is n such that $$\mid$f^{(n)}(z)\;-\;g(z)$\mid$\;<\;{\epsilon}\;for\;$\mid$z$\mid$\;{\leq}\;R$. In this note, we review G. MacLane's proof of the existence of universal functions with respect to differentiation, and we give a simplified proof of G. D. Birkhoff's theorem showing the existence of universal functions with respect to translation. We also discuss Godefroy and Shapiro's extension of these results to convolution operators as well as some new, related results and problems.

A universal design method using 3 Point task analysis and 9 universal design items

  • In order to examine universal design, 1 have developed two analytical methodologies based on 3P(point) task analysis: structured task analysis and task matrix analysis. I also extracted nine universal design items, namely (1) adjustment, (2) redundancy, (3) specification and function transparency, (4) feedback and (5) error tolerance, (6) effective acquisition of information, (7) ease of understanding and judgment, (8) comfortable operation, and (9) continuity of information and operation. Structured task analysis is used to uncover problems in each of the tasks constituting a job for each functionally challenged condition of users, and solutions to the extracted problems are examined in terms of the above-mentioned nine universal design items. Task matrix analysis calls for the production of a table for each task in a job. In each table, nine items form the columns, and the horizontal rows list all disability types. Then, solutions are formulated for each cell formed by the intersecting columns and rows. Using these two analysis methods, 1 have conducted a verification experiment for the universal design of a public bus. The results of the research have enabled me to propose various ,solutions from a system-based perspective, instead of coming up with the superficial and isolated solutions which are normally produced when conventional analytical methods are used.

  • In the context of lifelong education program for an aging society and information age, elementary school facilities are expected to accommodate various people in diverse age group and diverse physical abilities. Introduction of the 'Universal Design' concept seems inevitable in school environment in terms of public infra structure for community. However, in architectural point of view, unlike foreign examples, simply applied barrier-free and safety standards of domestic guidelines based on dimensional data does not function enough to achieve universal design in authentic manner. This study is focused on this issue and suggests the direction of improvement for architectural design guidelines. Through the comparative analysis of foreign and domestic design guidelines, two principles of universal design-'Flexibility in Use', 'Perceptile Information'- are found to be lacking in the domestic design guidelines for elementary school facilities. It is expected for government authority to develop more concrete guidelines to achieve universal design for school as a basic public space in the community.

  • 비정상 현상을 나타내는 지하수위 자료의 추정을 위해서 제한적 최대 우도치를 이용하는 universal kriging을 사용하였다. 제한적 최대우도법의 우수성을 판정하기 위해 가중 최소자승법을 이용하는 IRD-k와 비교 검토하였다. 교차 타당성에 있어서 RML과 k계 고유 확율함수는 거의 비슷한 결과를 갖고, 참값 대 추정치의 이산분포도와 지하수위 등고선도에 있어서도 2가지 방법이 거의 같은 결과를 만들었다. RNL을 이요한 universal kriging과 가중 최소자승법을 이용한 IRF-k가 비정상 함수자료의 추정에 있어서 거의 비슷한 결과를 만든 원인은 이용된 실험자료의 비정규분포와 적은 자료수에 기인하는 것으로 사료된다.

화자 검증 시스템을 위한 PCA 기반 MFDWC 특징 파라미터 (A PCA-based MFDWC Feature Parameter for Speaker Verification System)

  • 본 논문에서는 화자검증 시스템의 성능향상을 위해서 주성분 분석 (PCA) 기반 Mel-Frequency Discrete Wavelet Coefficients (MFDWC) 추출방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법에서는 멜척도 (Mel-scale)를 근사화한 각 레벨 (level)의 각 노드 (node) 에너지를 계산하기 위해 기존의 평균치 대신 주성분 분석을 이용한 첫 번째 eigenvector를 이용한다. 이 eigenvecto.의 제곱의 합은 1로서 일반적인 가중 함수 (weighting function)의 조건을 만족하고, 또한 각 화자마다 서로 다른 값을 갖게 되므로, 화자의 특징을 더 잘 나타내는 MFDWC를 추출할 수 있다. 화자검증은 Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) 기반의 백그라운드 모델과 화자 모델과의 점수를 비교하는 이진 결정 (binary decision) 방법을 이용하여 Universal 백그라운드 모델 (UBM)과 각 화자 모델의 값을 프레임단위로 비교하여 대상 화자의 수락/거부 여부를 결정하는 방법을 채택하였다. 특징 파라미터에 따른 화자 검증 성능변화를 확인하기 위하여 제안된 화자종속 가중함수를 이용한 MFDWC를 특징 파라미터로 이용한 경우와 Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC), Linear Predictive Cepstral Coefficients (LPCC), 기존의 MFDWC를 특징 파라미터로 이용한 경우에 대하여 성능비교실험을 수행한 결과 각각 $0.80\%,\;5.14\%,\; 6.69\%$의 향상된 성능을 나타내어 제안한 방법의 유효성을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • This paper describes the universal-type signaling service equipment which provides a signaling service function (R2 MFC, DTMF, Continuity check tone, and Audible tone sending and/or receiving) for call processing control in TDX-10 switching system. Based upon the structure of the TDX-10 switching system, the philosophy of design and technology on the universal-type signaling service equipment has been investigated in order to realize a reduction in size and cost, as well as assuring high reliability and flexible operation. Finally, the control method, fuctional operation and principal feature of the designed universal-type signaling service equipment have been described.

Correction of node mapping distortions using universal serendipity elements in dynamical problems

  • In this paper, the use of universal serendipity elements (USE) to eliminate node mapping distortions for dynamic problem is presented. Rectangular shaped elements for USE are being introduced by using a flexible master element with an adjustable edge node location. The shape functions of the universal serendipity formulation are used to derive the mass and damping matrices for the dynamic analyses. These matrices eliminate the node mapping distortion errors that occurs incase of the standard shape function formulations. The verification of new formulation will be tested and the errors encountered in the standard formulation will be studied for a dynamically loaded deep cantilever.

  • 비정상 확율함수인 지하수위 자료의 추정을 위하여 k계의 고유확율함수를 이용하였다. IRF-k의 우수성을 판정하기 위해 지하수위 자료가 정상 확율하수라고 가정하여 ordinary kriging과 비교 검토하였다. 교차 타다성에 의하며 IRF-k가 ordinary kriging에 비해서 지하수 분포 추정에 더 적합한 모델이다. 또한 추정치의 통계적 오차에 의하여도 IRF-k가 ordinary kriging에 비해 우수하다. IRF-k와 ordinary kriging은 지하수위 등고선과 3차원 표면 그림에 있어서 차이를 보이는데, IRF-k에 의해 만들어진 도면들이 더 정밀하다.
