A Study of Liquid Nitrogen Inert Gas System for LNGC Diesel Engine Crank Chamber (LNGC 디젤기관 크랭크 챔버용 액체질소 불활성가스 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • It is necessary to install the inert gas system(IGS) for preventing fire and explosion in LNGC main diesel engine crankcase besides oil mist detector(OMD) unit with $CO_2$ gas injector. Therefore, to design the liquid nitrogen IGS, analytical work is conducted for predicting the heat input load of liquid nitrogen heater with two-phase stratified flow model. This paper also presents the effects of changes in pipe diameter, saturated pressure, and inclination angle by ship's movement on cryogenic two-phase stratified flows. It is found that the stratified model gives reasonable predictions, and the model is effective to predict the heat input load of liquid nitrogen IGS.

Conceptual Design of Electric-Pump Motor for 50kW Rocket Engine (50kW급 로켓 엔진용 전기펌프 모터의 개념 설계)

  • Electric pump system is new technology for next generation propulsion unit. The system has simple structure which dose not need gas generator, injector and turbine and might better pump for low cost and low payload rocket. Therefore, this paper suggests conceptual design of electric-pump Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) which has 50 kW & 50,000 RPM for rocket. To satisfy the system's requirement, electromagnetic analysis is conducted for suitable inner and outer diameter of stator and rotor which uses 4000 Gauss cylinder magnet and Inconel 718 can to fix whole rotor. Futhermore, to confirm rotational vibration, rotordynamics analysis is conducted. By this analysis, Campbell diagram is printed. From the diagram, natural frequency could be determined for the only motor and dynamo meter test bench.

Evaluation of the Large Scale Petroleum-Contaminated Site for the Remediation of Landfarming (대규모 유류오염부지에 적용된 토양경작법의 정화효율 평가)

  • The remediation efficiency for a large scale petroleum-contaminated site was evaluated by using the Engineered Land-farming system which was consists of the following parameters; moisture & nutrient injector data, blower system, HDPE sheet and sump system. To enhance the degradation ability in the early stage, main nutrients such as nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) were adjusted for the site condition. As a result of the periodic tilling process, the concentration of contaminated soil was decreased to 348 mg/kg, which was lower than 500 mg/kg (regal standards) while satisfying remediation Efficiency of 82% (the maximum concentration of 1,893 mg/kg). The appropriate temperature range for an active operation was investigated between $28.9{\sim}35.6^{\circ}C$. For the contaminated soils having different initial concentration, the TPH (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons) concentration was decreased evenly along with the CFU (Colony Forming Unit), moisture content and contaminant concentration after 38days of gratifying the legal standards of under 500 mg/kg.
