  • This paper describes the fault location calculation using neuro-fuzzy systems in combined transmission lines with underground power cables. Neuro-fuzzy systems used in this paper are composed of two parts for fault section and fault location. First, neuro-fuzzy system discriminates the fault section between overhead and underground with normalized detail coefficient obtained by wavelet transform. Normalized detail coefficients of voltage and current in half cycle information are used for the inputs of neuro-fuzzy system. As the result of neuro-fuzzy system for fault section, impedance of selected fault section is calculated and it is used as the inputs of the neuro-fuzzy systems for fault location. Neuro-fuzzy systems for fault location also consist of two parts. One calculates the fault location of overhead, and the other does for underground. Fault section is completely classified and neuro-fuzzy system for fault location calculates the distance from the relaying point. Neuro-fuzzy systems proposed in this paper shows the excellent results of fault section and fault location.

  • This study was conducted to improve the productivety of Ligusticum chuanxiong HORT. and Cnidium officinale MAKINO by establishing the effects of cultivating conditions. Growth characteristics of underground part of L. chuanxiong under the different mulching treatment showed the highest growth and yield in black vinyl mulching treatment. The highest dry weight of underground parts per plant in mulching treatment was 47.9g at white shading treatment while the lowest one was 16.5g at black shading treatment. Growth characteristics of underground parts C. officinale under the different mulching treatment were the higher in black vinyl mulching rather than in rice straw mulching and white vinyl mulching. Dry weight of underground parts per plant of C. officinale under the different shading treatments was the highest(37.8g) under the white shading while it was lowest(12. 2g) under the black shading.

  • Research has begun to change the waterproofing design of domestic underground structure parts from the current negative-side waterproof design to the positive-side waterproof design. For this, active review from the design stage to prevent the ingress of external ground water into the waterproofing measures of the underground of apartment buildings is needed. Therefore, in this study, proper waterproofing method for the major leaks identified in the previous studies and a waterproofing method for the waterproof design of the underground floor and the outer wall is proposed. It is hoped that a follow-up study, such as a review of field applicability, for the proposed methods will provide an alternative to secure leakage stability in waterproof design.

  • An analysis of the current water leak status of understand structure (underground parking lots, staircases, plumbing systems, water reservoirs, etc.) of multi-family housing in South Korea shows that water leaks are found from cracks in all areas of the underground structure caused by the degradation environment (water pressure by underground water, humidity, temperature, earth pressure, soil behaviour and vibration, etc.), which result in various problems, including mold, malodour, debonding of finishing materials, exfoliation, breakout, water leaks in electrical boxes, efflorescence, sedimentation of calcium hydroxide, decoloration, rusting, damages and pollution among others. Therefore, this study aims to analyse the current status of water leaks in underground structure and use the results as the basic data for developing a standard guideline for water leaks and maintenance by parts of the underground structure of multi-family housing.

  • Closed steel supports of different shapes are used in mining and underground constructions. The supports are prefabricated from rolled, usually robust, steel profiles. The load carrying capacity of a support is considerably influenced by the active loading and passive forces. The passive forces are induced by interactions between the support and the surrounding rock mass. The analysis herein comprises three parts: The first part consists of structural geometry processing. The second part involves finding the numerical solution of a statically indeterminate structure for a specified load. The third part is calculation of the load carrying capacity and the components of internal forces and deformations. For this, the force method and numerical integration are used. The Winkler model is applied when the support interacts with the surrounding environment. The load carrying capacity is limited by the slip resistance of the connected parts and it is limited by reaching the ultimate state of the profile. This paper serves as a comprehensive reference for the determination of the load carrying capacity of closed steel supports and includes stepwise derivations of the governing formulas.

  • This paper describes the analysis to install an arrester for an underground distribution line effectively. Currently, the underground distribution cable is protected by the arrester connected with overhead distribution line. However, riser pole arrester can't protect all parts of cable like the end of the underground distribution cable. To solve this problem, we installed the arrester on each cable and have measured the overvoltage made by lightning surge in each situation. The location to get effective results has been decided from the measured voltage above.

  • Flow-able backfill is known as soil-cement slurry, void fill, and controlled low-strength material (CLSM). The benefits of CLSM include reduced equipment costs, faster construction, re-excavation in the future, and the ability to place material in confined spaces such as narrow parts nearly impossible for compaction or perimeter of underground power cables. A review of some recent full-scale tests carried out by KEPRI on slurry backfill materials for application in underground power cable was presented. Based on this research, applicability was assessed and compare to results of laboratory tests for improved slurry materials with optimal mixture contents.
