This paper deals with the process and requirements of a capstone design project performed by undergraduate students. We discuss about the preliminary study for the capstone design, the derivation of a subject, the level descriptor of the subject, and the system requirements. And then, we summarize the results of the capstone design project entitled as Microsoft Azure based IoT (Internet of Things) system which is performed by 4 undergraduate students during 10 months. This system is composed of a Zigbee sensor network, the TCP/IP Internet, an IoT server, and a smartphone application program, with which we can gather the sensor data and control actuators at the far away area.

Machine element design is a very important course in the undergraduate program of mechanical engineering in that it presents traditional design concepts. While computer aided design(CAD) receives more attention, students tend to ignore the machine element design or traditional design concepts. However, design methodologies related to machine elements are utilized quite often in practical fields. Also, design methodologies provide good insight for the decision making process of modern design. Generally, CAD is used for simple drafting without the real design process in the undergraduate program. Design software has been developed for various machine elements. Through menu display, a user can select or furnish the design input such as design objects, dimensions, environmental forces and usages, and safety factors. Then the software carries out the design processes which are the same as those of textbooks. The result of the design is filtered to have the values in the standards. The designed machine element is drawn via commercial CAD software. The software has been developed with C language on a personal computer. The developed software is being utilized successfully in a design course, and the experiences are discussed in this paper. The software can be used in industries which require the repeated process of the machine element design.

본 연구는 기업에서 원하는 즉시 '현장 투입형 인재양성'을 위해, 디자인학과의 학부과정에서 어떠한 방식으로 산학협력형 수업을 진행하여야 바람직한 교육적 효과를 달성할 수 있을 것인가에 대한 사례연구이다. 이를 위해 필자는 다음과 같은 방법으로 연구를 진행하였다. 2005학년도 1학기의 산학협력형 교과목 운영을 위하여 2004년도 12월부터 1)자료 조사의 작업에 착수하였다. 이 단계에서는 산학협력을 위한 내 외적인 환경을 살펴보고, 모범적인 산학협력형 교과목의 운영 사례를 찾고자 하였다. 조사자료를 토대로 2)바람직한 산학협력형 수업 운영을 위한 가설을 수립하고, 수업을 실제로 수행해 보면서 이를 검증하고 발전시키고자 하였다. 3)2005년 1월부터 본 대학 디자인학부 3학년에 개설된 '인터랙터브 디자인' 교과목을 위하여 디지털 사교와 관련된 디자인 과제를 선정하고, 산학협력 업체를 수배하였다. 학기가 시작되기 전까지 4)MSN 메신저를 위한 각종 아이템을 납품 관리하는 기업인 '와이즈포스트'와 공동으로 교육과정을 설계하였다. 개학 후 협력업체와 함께 5)3학년학생 20명을 대상으로 교육과정을 운영하였다. 학기말에 이르러 6)기업체와 공동으로 학생의 과제를 평가하고, 1학기가 끝난 후 방학 기간을 통하여 7)1학기의 과제물 중 우수한 것을 선정하여 상품화하는 과정을 거쳤다. 이러한 과정을 통하여 디자인학부 과정에서도 현장 투입형 인재양성 프로그램을 운영할 수 있다는 가능성을 확인하고 일반 실습수업과 산학협력 수업 운영의 장단점을 종합적으로 파악할 수 있었다. 또한, 산학협력형 수업에서는 교수자의 역할이 일반 실습형 수업에서의 역할과 크게 차이가 나기 때문에 교수자는 이를 인식하고 능동적으로 대처해야 한다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다.

최근 공학교육의 발전을 촉진하고 실력을 갖춘 공학기술 인력을 배출하기 위해 공학교육인증에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 이 공학교육인증에서는 학생들에게 포트폴리오 작성을 요구하고 있으며, 포트폴리오는 대학의 전 과정을 통해 달성한 학생 자신의 교육적 성과로서 학생 개개인의 교육 관련 활동과 실적물이 포함되어 있다. 특히, 설계교과목에 대한 포트폴리오에는 졸업 시까지 학생이 만든 설계 결과물이 축적되며, 결과물은 학생의 설계능력에 대한 달성도를 평가할 뿐 아니라 취업 또는 진학 시 중요한 자료로 활용될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 실습교과목, 공학설계, 졸업설계에 대한 포트폴리오의 양식에 대해 설명하고, 이를 이용한 활용법에 대해 소개한다.

The aim of this study is to provide the values and descriptive implications of the Design Thinking (DT) method into the context of educational problems of practice in an undergraduate course. To achieve the research objective, both quantitative and qualitative studies were conducted. For the qualitative study, the student's productions and reflections on the experience of the application of the DT into educational problems were analyzed. For the quantitative research, one-group pre and post-test were designed to validate the effectiveness of the DT method into educational contexts in terms of creativity level to measure the student's Creativity Potential and Practiced Creativity, Academic Self-Efficacy Scale, and Problem-Solving Inventory. This study validated that the DT method had a statistically significant influence on those three competencies and also illustrated the detailed process from a qualitative viewpoint. The results and implications reflect the potential of the DT approach with the educational problem of practice, especially, in the ill-structured problem-solving contexts for student-centered instructional setting.

Purpose - This paper discusses cross-cultural management (CCM) in China and how its business students get prepared by university cross-cultural management courses for an international market. Research design, data, and methodology - It was therefore decided to do an online content analysis looking at CCM courses offered by a number of Chinese universities first, and second to conduct a quantitative survey on CCM courses as well as topics among Chinese undergraduate business students at a large Eastern Chinese university. Results - From fundamental aspects, seven Chinese cultural standards emerge which highly influence the behaviour of the Chinese. There is a tendency to imply the integration of not only local but also cross cultural issues in academic management courses. Besides Hong Kong, there are currently 17 Chinese universities and schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) that explicitly requires cross-cultural management competencies in undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. In addition, the study confirmed that two-third of the sample (Chinese undergraduate business students) had taken cross-cultural management courses. Conclusions - The results of this research have made it clear that Chinese universities and schools are aware of the importance of cross-cultural management competencies.

Innovation and entrepreneurship education is becoming an important development opportunity for colleges and universities to realize curve overtaking. Affected by the physical and mental development characteristics, female college students in innovative undertaking showed different growth characteristics. In order to further promote female college students' innovative undertaking, we should combine the characteristics of female design with innovation entrepreneurship education path. As one of the three women's colleges, the general innovation and entrepreneurship course system of Shandong Women's University provides a wide education of innovation and entrepreneurship consciousness and thinking for all students. The undergraduate major of business Administration (entrepreneurial management) provides the whole system education of entrepreneurship, and through "system guarantee, professional construction, course system, competition assistance and project cultivation", female students' entrepreneurial consciousness is cultivated and their entrepreneurial ability is improved.

The use of holographic standardized patient (HSP) with mixed reality can provide students with the opportunity to enhance clinical reasoning skills. This is still relatively new, so there is a lack of guidelines for educators. Thus, we aimed to develop the instructional model of HSP-based education, for enhancing clinical reasoning skills in undergraduate healthcare education, which could systematically guide educators in designing and implementing HSP-based teaching and learning activities appropriately. Using a design and development research, a theoretically constructed initial mode in this study was iteratively improved and underwent validation through expert review and model usability test. Features of the model were discussed, along with theoretical and practical implications and suggestions for further research.

Purpose: This study was conducted to develop and test the effects of an emotional intelligence program for undergraduate nursing students. Methods: The study design was a mixed method research. Participants were 36 nursing students (intervention group: 17, control group: 19). The emotional intelligence program was provided for 4 weeks (8 sessions, 20 hours). Data were collected between August 6 and October 4, 2013. Quantitative data were analyzed using Chi-square, Fisher's exact test, t-test, repeated measure ANOVA, and paired t-test with SPSS/WIN 18.0. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. Results: Quantitative results showed that emotional intelligence, communication skills, resilience, stress coping strategy, and clinical competence were significantly better in the experimental group compared to the control group. According to the qualitative results, the nursing students experienced improvement in emotional intelligence, interpersonal relationships, and empowerment, as well as a reduction in clinical practice stress after participation in the emotional intelligence program. Conclusion: Study findings indicate that the emotional intelligence program for undergraduate nursing students is effective and can be recommended as an intervention for improving the clinical competence of undergraduate students in a nursing curriculum.

The purpose of this study was to verify the stability of environmental disposition through analyzing the short term effect of the 'Interior Design History' course on students environmental dispositions, especially their interior image preferences toward traditional/modern, female/masculine, and simple/complex characteristics. The pre-test post-test control group experimental design was used. The independent variable was the experience of the Interior Design History course, and the dependent variable was environmental disposition measured by IIPS(Interior Image Preference Scale). The measurements were done at both beginning and end of fall semester, 1997. Subjects were using 71 undergraduate students of Drafting course (control group) and 35 undergraduate students of Interior Design History course (experimental group) at Y University. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and F-test through ANOCOVA. This research revealed no effect of the Interior Design History course on students interior environmental dispositions. The stability of those environmental dispositions and also the validity of the IIPS were proved.
