  • In this paper, the frequency estimator and DFT filter gain compensation for UFR(Under Frequency protection Relay) is introduced. Due to the sudden appearance of generator loads or faults in power system, the frequency is supposed to deviate from its nominal value. Because a frequency calculation is based on phase information, it needs sufficient sampling data to figure out a precious frequency. Therefore the frequency measurement for UFR needs excellent qualities such as high speed and precision with low sampling frequency Authors propose the frequency estimator which compares the vector differences and the DFT filter gain compensation which identifies DFT filter error and correct it. Using the frequency estimator and compensation, UFR which has the 0.01[ms] calculation delay and 0.003[Hz] measurement error is implemented with digital processor.

  • In this study, we systemize the theoretical validity for applying RRM to three-stage cluster sampling method and derive the estimate and it's variance of sensitive parameter. We derive the minimum variance form under the optimal values of the subsample sizes when the costs are fixed. Under the some given precision, we obtain the optimal values of the subsample sizes and derive the minimum cost form by using them. We apply the three-stage cluster RRM to field survey and suggest some necessary points for practical use.

  • In order to provide basis for an accurate concentration determination of volatile organic compounds(VOCs) in air, four different institutions participated in simultaneous measurements of several VOC species under the experimental scheme of the Measurement and Analysis Division(MAD) of the Korea Society for Atmospheric Environment(KOSAE). Two types of experiments were undertaken by collecting and analyzing ambient air samples from the 7th floor of Natural Science Building, Han Tang University during two day periods of the late May 1998. The first typer of experiment was conducted as five consecutive experiments at 2-hour intervals by two institutions. On the other hand. the second type of experiment was performed as two -10hr sampling by three different institutions. The data obtained from different type of experiments were examined using various statistical approaches. In general, the results of these experiments indicated that the VOC data produced by a number of Korean institutions be fairly agreeable.

  • In this study we are concerned with the diagnostics method of cross-classified categorical data using logistic regression model of binary response models for cell proportions. under this model, we could examine the goodness-of-fit of the models using Pearson's $x^2$test statistic and likelihood ratio statistic. Under this model, these statistics are assumed that sample survey schemes are with replacement sampling model. But these statistics are often inappropriate for analysing contingency tables consists of complex sampling schemes obtained sample survey data. In this study we are examined diagnostics procedures detecting any outlying cell proportions and influential observations on design space in logistic regression modeltake account of the survey design effects.

  • Turbulent thermal mixing experiments by the injection of two parallel non-isothermal water jets have been performed. The turbulent velocities and fluctuations under the isothermal conditions have been measured using LDV system. The velocity vectors have been plotted in two dimensions from the data measured at 29$\times$16 points. The thermal mixing experiments also have been conducted, where we used 45 K-type thermocouples with a sheath diameter of 0.020" which were fixed with 5 mm distance in a line at a measured height. The measured heights were 5, 10, 20, 30, 40 cm from the upper end of rectangular nozzles. We measured the turbulent temperatures under the various flow velocity conditions with 12$^{\circ}C$ $\leq$ $\Delta$T $\leq$4$0^{\circ}C$. The sampling frequency and sampling time were about 420 Hz and 10 seconds, respectively. The measured results of equal velocity parallel jets were analyzed axially and radially to obtain the variation of temperature fluctuation.tion.

  • Objectives: Flow rate stability is very important for obtaining reliable measurements. However there is no easily used method for checking whether the flow rate set at the initial stage is sustained during sampling. The purpose of this study was to develop a method to evaluate the flow rate performance of gas sampling pumps with adsorbents commonly used to sample gases. Materials and methods: We tested the back pressure of gas sampling pumps commonly used in Korea with adsorbents such as charcoal and silica tubes and attempted to discover the combination conditions of adsorbents in accordance with back pressure required by ISO standard 13137. Results: We found the combination of sampling adsorbents to be applicable to the pressure drop required by the ISO standard for evaluating flow rate stability under increasing pressure drop and long term (eight-hour) performance. Conclusions: This evaluation method of using a sampling media matrix for checking flow rate stability as proposed by this study could be a highly useful tool for determining the reliability of the performance pumps before sampling.

  • The injection molding process is a process in which thermoplastic resin is heated and made into a fluid state, injected under pressure into the cavity of a mold, and then cooled in the mold to produce a product identical to the shape of the cavity of the mold. It is a process that enables mass production and complex shapes, and various factors such as resin temperature, mold temperature, injection speed, and pressure affect product quality. In the data collected at the manufacturing site, there is a lot of data related to good products, but there is little data related to defective products, resulting in serious data imbalance. In order to efficiently solve this data imbalance, undersampling, oversampling, and composite sampling are usally applied. In this study, oversampling techniques such as random oversampling (ROS), minority class oversampling (SMOTE), ADASYN(Adaptive Synthetic Sampling), etc., which amplify data of the minority class by the majority class, and complex sampling using both undersampling and oversampling, are applied. For composite sampling, SMOTE+ENN and SMOTE+Tomek were used. Artificial neural network techniques is used to predict product quality. Especially, MLP and RNN are applied as artificial neural network techniques, and optimization of various parameters for MLP and RNN is required. In this study, we proposed an SA technique that optimizes the choice of the sampling method, the ratio of minority classes for sampling method, the batch size and the number of hidden layer units for parameters of MLP and RNN. The existing sampling methods and the proposed SA method were compared using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 Score to prove the superiority of the proposed method.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate how elementary school students execute sampling with what designs in order to gather information under a situation that requires collecting data and information about their household and everyday life, and to examine how they use tools, including table or graph, etc., in order to perform efficient analysis of data and information they surveyed, also what results they acquire. To test this, the researcher set up a situation in advance that requires collecting data, and, under this circumstance, the researcher instructed and guided school students to look for methods how to design and survey in order to gather data by having them discuss tasks, involving small groups or entire class, and seek its solutions by themselves through trial and errors. The results from surveys revealed that a lesson, which will have students do sampling and arrange statistical data and analyze the results, was possible to carry out in the class of 6th grade of elementary school.

  • A weathered residual soil is a soil-like material derived from the in situ weathering and decomposition of rock which has not been transported from its original location. Undisturbed sampling of residual soils is extremely difficult, which has an important effect on investigating the strength and compression characteristics. Thus, a special undisturbed sampling device (direct shear box with shoe) was developed and undisturbed samples were successfully obtained for direct shear tests, Direct shear testing was conducted under unsoaked and soaked condition. As a result, the shear strength of soaked samples was less than that of unsoaked samples, and it was verified that direct shearing of undisturbed samples can evaluate reasonably the shear strength and the slope stability.
