This paper introduced truss model and one-way slab elastic Model to analyse flexure of unbonded prestressed concrete member. After cracking, we could determine concrete membrane depth, deflection and stress. In order to do that, an numerical example of simply supported one way slab which has non-external membrane support(s=0) is analysed. The analytical results using the analytical model were compared with several experimental results and were generally satisfied.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the inelastic behavior of precast segmental prestressed concrete bridge piers. A computer program, named RCAHEST (Reinforced Concrete Analysis in Higher Evaluation System Technology), for the analysis of reinforced concrete structures was used. Material nonlinearity is taken into account by comprising tensile, compressive and shear models of cracked concrete and a model of reinforcing steel. An unbonded tendon element based on the finite element method, that can represent the interaction between tendon and concrete of prestressed concrete member, is used. A joint element is newly developed to predict the inelastic behaviors of segmental joints. The proposed numerical method for the inelastic behavior of precast segmental prestressed concrete bridge piers is verified by comparison with reliable experimental results.

The effective thermal conductivity of two-phase materials such as unbonded silica sands saturated with a nanofluid was measured at high temperature using the transient thermal probe method. The nanofluid used in this study was a water-based mixture of 0.1 vol% $Al_2O_3$ nanoparticles with a diameter of 45 nm. The convection problem for fluids was prevented with this measurement method because the fluid was confined to within very small pore spaces. Based on the prediction model for unbonded sands, the thermal conductivities of the saturating nanofluid at high temperatures could be determined with the measured effective thermal conductivities for the two-phase material. In the results, increases in the thermal conductivity ratios of the nanofluid to pure water when temperatures were varied from $30^{\circ}$ to $80^{\circ}C$ were within the range of 4.87%~5.48%.
This is a preliminary study on the development of precast beam-column joints for dry construction methodology. Precast beam column joints with thru-connectors (BCJ_TC) using high strength bars or PS strands were developed and their seismic performance including strength degradation, stiffness degradation and energy dissipation capacity was experimentally evaluated. Test results showed that compressive failures at the end blocks of PC beam members occurred dominantly while PC columns including panel zones were free from any damage. However, the connections confined with CFRP at the end block showed much improved seismic performance than that of the unconfined connections. Connections with neoprene pad fillers between beam and column interfaces were better than the other connections in all the seismic performances except initial stiffness. To improve the seismic performances of BCJ_TC, compressive strength of the concrete at the end block need to be increased to compensate for the additional compressive stresses due to unbonded connectors and deformation of connectors should be controlled respectively.
A three dimensional nonlinear finite element analysis is used to study the influence of various design decisions for tieback walls. The numerical model simulates the soldier piles and the tendon bonded length of the anchors with beam elements, the unbonded tendon with a spring element, the wood lagging with the shell elements, and the soil with solid 3D nonlinear elements. The soil model used is a modified hyperbolic model with unloading hysteresis. The complete sequence of construction is simulated including the excavation, and the placement and stressing of the anchors. The numerical model is calibrated against a full scale instrumented tieback wall at the National Geotechnical Experimentation Site (NGES) on the Riverside Campus of Texas A&M University. Then a parametric study is conducted. The results give information on the influence of the following factors on the wall behavior : location of the first anchor, length of the tendon unbonded zone, magnitude of the anchor forces, embedment of the soldier piles, stiffness of the wood lagging, and of the piles. The implications in design are discussed.
This study deals with literature review, developing a predicting equation for the ultimate stress of prestressing steel, and experimental test with the parameters affecting the ultimate stress of prestressing steel in reinforced concrete beams strengthened by external prestressing. The ACI predicting equation for the ultimate stress of unbonded prestressing steel is analyzed to develop a new integrated predicting equation. The proposed predicting equation takes rationally the effect of internal reinforcing bars into consideration as a function of prestressing steel depth to neutral depth ratio. In the experimental study, steel reinforced concrete beams strengthened using external prestressing steel are tested with the test parameters having a large effect on the ultimate stress of prestressing steel. The test parameters includes reinforcing bar and external prestressing steel reinforcement ratios, and span to depth ratio. The test results are analyzed to confirm the rationality and applicability of the proposed equation for predicting the ultimate stress of external prestressing steel.

An unbonded post-tensioned anchor using a 15.2 mm diameter 7-wire strand was developed based on finite element analysis and experimental testing. In order to evaluate its performance, static load tests and load transfer tests were conducted following KCI-PS101. The static load tests and additional strand tensile tests confirmed that the developed anchor had a capacity more than nominal tensile strength of a 7-wire strand without any damage or deterioration. According to the result of load transfer tests for many different reinforcing details, specimens with no additional reinforcing bars sustained at least 1.64 times the nominal tensile strength of the strand.
Unlike external bonded steel plate or carbon fiber, the external unbonded strengthening using hi-strength bar has some advantages in speed and simplicity of installation. It is not required surface preparations and not affected by environmental conditions. A set of nine laboratory tests on RC beams strengthened using the hi-tension bars are reported. Anchoring pin developed in former research is installed at the end of beam to connect the hish-tension bar to RC beam. The test results strengthened by hi-tension bars are compared with those of non-strengthened specimens. The main test parameters are the cross-sectional area of the high-tension bar, distance of stirrups and condition of supports. Test results show that the beams reinforced are superior to reference specimens, especially for the strength and deformation capacity. Also, shear resisting effect of hi-strength bar can be confirmed in the specimens which have lack of stirrups.

This paper concentrates on the nonlinear analysis of prestressed concrete (PSC) containment structures. Unlike a commercialized program which adopts the perfect bond assumption between concrete and tendon in the analysis of PSC structures, a numerical algorithm to consider the slip effect, simultaneously with the use of commercialized programs such as DIANA and ABAQUS, is introduced in this paper For bonded tendons, the apparent yield stress of an embedded tendon is determined from the bond slip relationship. And for unbonded tendons, Correction for the strength and stiffness of unbonded internal tendons is achieved on the basis of an iteration scheme derived from the slip behavior of tendon along the entire length. Finally, the developed algorithm is applied to two PSC containment structures of PWR and CANDU to verify its efficiency and applicability in simulating the structural behavior of large complex structures, and the obtained result shows that both containment structures represent the ultimate pressure capacity larger than about 3 times of the design pressure.
Recently, prestressed H-Beam bridges with external unbonded Tendons are increasingly built. The mechanical behavior of prestressed steel H-beams is different from that of normal bonded PSC beams in a point of the slip of tendons at deviators and the change of tendon eccentricity that occurs, when service load are applied in external unbonded steel H-beams. The concept of prestressing steel structures has been widely considered, in spite of long and successful history of prestressing concrete members. In the study, The flexural test on prestressed steel H-beams has been performed in the various aspects of prestressed H-beam including the tendon type and profile. The load was plotted against the deflection and the strain respectively in the steel beam and prestressing bars. The value expected with the equation of internal force equilibrium and compatibility between the deflection of the bars and the H-beam was found to correlate well with the measured data.
