To analyze between water quality and community structure of benthic macroinvertebrates, we selected four reservoirs (Lake Sayeon, Lake Daeam, Seonam reservoir and Lake Hoeya) in Ulsan-si and studied them from February 2010 to October 2010. The annual mean BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) in the four lakes was $14.2mg\;L^{-1}$, and Seonam reservoir had the highest deviation in BOD. The maximum BOD for every lake was in February and their minimum in May, except for Lake Hoeya whose minimum was in July. The means of various nutrients were as follows: TN $0.051mg\;L^{-1}$, TP $0.100mg\;L^{-1}$, $NH_3-N\;0.606mg\;L^{-1}$, and $NO_3-N\;0.014mg\;L^{-1}$. The maximum TN was measured in June and the maximum and minimum TP were measured in March and in May respectively in the four lakes. Benthic macroinvertebrates were surveyed in April and October 2010. The number of benthic macroinvertebrates species was in the range of 16~36 and the average number of individuals were 58~208 inds. $m^{-2}$. Seonam reservoir, which has the highest mean TN ($0.082mg\;L^{-1}$) and $NO_3-N$($0.023mg\;L^{-1}$), had the largest number of species (36 species, 208 inds. $m^{-2}$). Pearson's correlation between the number of macro invertebrates species and TN was 0.962 (P<0.05), and between the species and $NO_3-N$ was 0.999 (P<0.05). These results show that the number of benthic macroinvertebrates species of the four lakes in Ulsan-si is significantly correlated with TN and $NO_3-N$.

Fe based (Fe$_{68.2}$C$_{5.9}$Si$_{3.5}$B$_{6.7}$P$_{9.6}$Cr$_{2.1}$Mo$_{2.0}$Al$_{2.0}$) amorphous powder, which is a composition of iron blast cast slag, were produced by a gas atomization process, and sequently mixed with ductile Cu powder by a mechanical ball milling process. The Fe-based amorphous powders and the Fe-Cu composite powders were compacted by a spark plasma sintering (SPS) process. Densification of the Fe amorphous-Cu composited powders by spark plasma sintering of was occurred through a plastic deformation of the each amorphous powder and Cu phase. The SPS samples milled by AGO-2 under 500 rpm had the best homogeneity of Cu phase and showed the smallest Cu pool size. Micro-Vickers hardness of the as-SPSed specimens was changed with the milling processes.

Predicting the behavior of rheological polymers is highly shear rate- and temperature-dependent. The Cross-WLF viscosity model has become a powerful solution that describes the shear rate- and temperature-dependent characteristics. To estimate the behavior of polymers in computational simulations, the coefficients of the Cross-WLF model should be well identified. An identification technique was proposed to determine the Cross-WLF viscosity model coefficient. The assumption is that the Cross-WLF viscosity model well describes the real characteristics of polymers when the calculated viscosity with the parameters is identical to the reference data. In this study, Auto-desk Moldflow data were used as a reference. The numerical examples showed that the proposed method accurately identifies the Cross-WLF viscosity model coefficients.
Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in person's mood, energy, and ability to function. Compared with manic episode, the depression episode causes more serious results such as restless, loss of interest or pleasure, or thoughts of death or suicide and the cure rate of depression episode is lower than that of manic episode. Furthermore, a long term use of antidepressants in bipolar patients may result in manic episode. Our interest is to investigate the effect of antidepressant on switch of moods of bipolar patients and to estimate the transition probabilities of switch between moods, depression and (hypo) manic. In this study, three approaches are applied in terms of multi state model. Parametric model is applied using left censoring data and nonparametric model is implemented under illness-death model with counting process. In order to estimate the effect of covariates, a multiplicative model is used. These all methods have similar results.
Using 171 groundwater chemistry data, seawater intrusion in the Ulsan area was studied. The area near the downstream area of the Taehwa River shows the higher Cl concentrations(11,300 mg/L in maximum), whereas the Cl concentrations are generally low in the eastern coastal area maybe due to the geology of the area. When Cl concentrations are very low, groundwater shows Br:Cl weight ratios significantly deviating from the Br:Cl ratio of seawater($34.7{\times}10^{-4}$). However, Br:Cl ratios are very close to the value of seawater when Cl concentrations are higher than 100 mg/L. Eleven groundwater samples having very high Cl concentrations(>500 mg/L) show that ionic ratios for Ca, Mg, $SO_4$, $HCO_3$ and $SiO_2$ are considerably different from those of seawater. This indicates that the origin of the high Cl groundwaters occurring along the Taehwa River are likely to be the residual salines from the salterns previously located on the alluviums rather than the seawaters intruded recently. These waters seem to be accumulated in the sediments before the drastic expansion of the city. Considering the characteristics of the urban groundwater system where the inflow exceeds the outflow, it is anticipated that the high Cl concentration in the groundwater show a decreasing trend in the future.
The turbidity in several wells of Samdong-myeon, Ulsan, exceeded potable groundwater standard (1 NTU). Mineralogical analysis showed that the fine suspended particles are ferrihydrite spheres with a size of less than $0.5\;{\mu}m$ and helical iron-oxidizing bacterial filaments, and their aggregates. Ferrihydrite was almost amorphous only showing two electron diffraction rings, and contained Si and P. Helical bacterial filaments were almost replaced by ferrihydrite. The helical bacteria have played an important role in the ferrihydrite formation by becoming the loci for ferrihydrite precipitation as well as oxidizing ferrous iron. The physicochemical conditions of low pH, low redox potential, high Ca concentration, and high alkalinity are consistent with the hydrogeochemical characteristics of carbonate groundwater, implicating that the inflow of deep ferriferous carbonate groundwater and its oxidation have caused the ferrihydrite turbidity in several wells of the study area.
In this study, materials and color formation techniques were assessed for black potteries excavated from the Janghyeon-dong, Jungsan-dong and Gyodong-ri sites during the Proto-Three Kingdoms period in Ulsan, Korea. Although the black potteries were black superficially, the inner cores were either black or reddish yellow. Microscopy analysis identified that body clay was used for reddish iron oxide rich soils with quartz, alkali feldspar and mica, along with grains of myrmechite texture. Additionally, as marginal differences exist in the contents of SiO2, Fe2O3 and CaO, the composition of the host rock and clay distributed around the sites was affected. Thus, we can deduce that pottery was made by soiling at a short distance. Raman spectroscopy results revealed that the black layer of the black pottery was used as amorphous combustion carbon. In addition, as a transparent layer of brown lacquer was observed on the substrate that was in contact with the surface layer, the black layer of the pottery induced black color development by a combination of combustion carbon and lacquer. Based on the mineral composition and microtexture of the body clay, the firing temperature of the potteries seemed to range from 750 to 850℃, whereas the lacquer layer was pyrolyzed at 468℃ by thermal analysis. Therefore, a combined layer of combustion carbon and lacquer, which formed the black color, was painted after the body clay was fired.
As part of the next-generation Compact Advanced Satellite 500 (CAS500) project, CAS500-4 is scheduled to be launched in 2025 focusing on the remote sensing of agriculture and forestry. To obtain quantitative information on vegetation from satellite images, it is necessary to acquire surface reflectance through atmospheric correction. Thus, it is essential to develop an atmospheric correction method suitable for CAS500-4. Since the absorption and scattering characteristics in the atmosphere vary depending on the wavelength, it is needed to analyze the sensitivity of atmospheric correction parameters such as aerosol optical depth (AOD) and water vapor (WV) considering the wavelengths of CAS500-4. In addition, as CAS500-4 has only five channels (blue, green, red, red edge, and near-infrared), making it difficult to directly calculate key parameters for atmospheric correction, external parameter data should be used. Therefore, thisstudy performed a sensitivity analysis of the key parameters (AOD, WV, and O3) using the simulated images based on Sentinel-2 satellite data, which has similar wavelength specifications to CAS500-4, and examined the possibility of using the products of GEO-KOMPSAT-2A (GK2A) as atmospheric parameters. The sensitivity analysisshowed that AOD wasthe most important parameter with greater sensitivity in visible channels than in the near-infrared region. In particular, since AOD change of 20% causes about a 100% error rate in the blue channel surface reflectance in forests, a highly reliable AOD is needed to obtain accurate surface reflectance. The atmospherically corrected surface reflectance based on the GK2A AOD and WV was compared with the Sentinel-2 L2A reflectance data through the separability index of the known land cover pixels. The result showed that two corrected surface reflectance had similar Seperability index (SI) values, the atmospheric corrected surface reflectance based on the GK2A AOD showed higher SI than the Sentinel-2 L2A reflectance data in short-wavelength channels. Thus, it is judged that the parameters provided by GK2A can be fully utilized for atmospheric correction of the CAS500-4. The research findings will provide a basis for atmospheric correction of the CAS500-4 in the future.

This study was carried out to investigate the occurrence and distribution of ALS inhibiting herbicide-resistant weeds and to estimate the appeared areas of resistant weeds in the paddy fields of Gyeongnam province of Korea in 2017 and 2018 using a soil assay method. Compared with the 2012 survey, this study showed that the infested ratio of ALS inhibiting herbicide-resistant weeds increased from 1.0% to 66.8% and the infested area increased from 876 ha to 49,008 ha. The infested area of ALS inhibiting herbicide-resistant weeds was estimated in Ulsan-si (8.4%), Hapcheon-gun (8.3%), Haman-gun (7.9%), Goseong-gun (7.9%), Hadong-gun (7.3%), Jinju-si (7.2%), Changnyeong-gun (7.0%), Gimhae-si (6.4%), Miryang-si (5.5%), Busan-si (4.9%), Uiryeong-gun (4.6%), Namhae-gun (4.3%), Geochang-gun (4.2%), Changwon-si (3.8%), Geoje-si (2.9%), Yangsan-si (1.8%), Sancheong-gun (0.9%) and Tongyeong-si (0.4%), and the herbicide resistant weeds was not occurred in Hamyang-gun. The most dominant ALS inhibiting herbicide-resistant weeds in paddy fields were Monochoria vaginalis, followed by Echinochloa oryzicola, Lindernia dubia, Scirpus juncoides, Ludwigia prostrata, Cyperus difformis, Sagittaria trifolia and Rotala indica. ALS inhibiting herbicide-resistant M. vaginalis, L. dubia, and E. oryzoides occurred throughout Gyeongnam province, and ALS inhibiting herbicide-resistant S. trifolia and R. indica were only found in Gimhae-si. Therefore, these results will be utilized to estimate population dynamics of ALS inhibiting herbicide-resistant weeds and provide proper management practices in the paddy fields of Gyeongnam province.
In stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), the accurate location of treatment sites should be guaranteed from the respiratory motions of patients. Lots of studies on this topic have been conducted. In this letter, a new verification method simulating the real respiratory motion of heterogenous treatment regions was proposed to investigate the accuracy of lung SBRT for Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy. Based on the CT images of lung cancer patients, lung phantoms were fabricated to equip in $QUASAR^{TM}$ respiratory moving phantom using 3D printer. The phantom was bisected in order to measure 2D dose distributions by the insertion of EBT3 film. To ensure the dose calculation accuracy in heterogeneous condition, The homogeneous plastic phantom were also utilized. Two dose algorithms; Analytical Anisotropic Algorithm (AAA) and AcurosXB (AXB) were applied in plan dose calculation processes. In order to evaluate the accuracy of treatments under respiratory motion, we analyzed the gamma index between the plan dose and film dose measured under various moving conditions; static and moving target with or without gating. The CT number of GTV region was 78 HU for real patient and 92 HU for the homemade lung phantom. The gamma pass rates with 3%/3 mm criteria between the plan dose calculated by AAA algorithm and the film doses measured in heterogeneous lung phantom under gated and no gated beam delivery with respiratory motion were 88% and 78%. In static case, 95% of gamma pass rate was presented. In the all cases of homogeneous phantom, the gamma pass rates were more than 99%. Applied AcurosXB algorithm, for heterogeneous phantom, more than 98% and for homogeneous phantom, more than 99% of gamma pass rates were achieved. Since the respiratory amplitude was relatively small and the breath pattern had the longer exhale phase than inhale, the gamma pass rates in 3%/3 mm criteria didn't make any significant difference for various motion conditions. In this study, the new phantom model of 4D dose distribution verification using patient-specific lung phantoms moving in real breathing patterns was successfully implemented. It was also evaluated that the model provides the capability to verify dose distributions delivered in the more realistic condition and also the accuracy of dose calculation.
