  • It was examined the key criterion of the time of property revelation as Uljin-Geumgangsong wood. For this purpose, we investigated in physical properties in pine wood (Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc.) and representative Uljin-Geumgangsong wood (Pinus densiflora forma erecta Uyeki). The results are as follows; Air-dry density of Uljin-Geumgangsong wood have higher values over about 20 percent than that of pine wood. And also heartwood rate of Uljin-Geumgansong wood have higher values above 70 percent. The number of vertical resin canals per $1mm^2$ in Uljin-Geumgangsong wood was 40 percent greater than in pine wood. As the average diameters of axial resin canals were 67.8 mm and 67.3~69.9 mm in pine wood and in Uljin-Geumgangsong wood, respectively, there was no significant difference among wood species. There tends to be an increase in diameters as annual rings increase. The number of horizontal resin canals in Uljin-Geumgangsong-1 was approximately 55 percent greater than in pine wood and Uljin-Geumgangsong-2. The number of resin canals in pine wood and Uljin-Geumgangson-2 decreased while it increased in Uljin-Geumgangsong-1 as annual rings increased. No significant difference was found in the number of rays among wood species and between earlywood and latewood of same wood species. As annual rings increased the number of rays decreased in both pine wood and Uljin-Geumgangsong. The heights of rays were greater in pine wood than Uljin-Geumgangsong and no difference was found between earlywood and latewood. In conclusion, rings of tree for the time of property revelation as Uljin-Geumgangsong wood is assumed about more than 150 years.

  • The fundamental studies for exploit natural resources was investigated on Uljin pottery stones that estimated the amount of mineral deposits at 350 million tons. The results obtained are as follows; In the chemical composition of Uljin pottery stones the amount of Al2O3 are a little compared with other pottery stones and that of Na2O and K2O are a large. Fe2O3 content is lower than 0.3 wt%, thus whiteness of its is 83. The major minerals composition of Uljin pottery stones are quartz and feldspar mineral. The refractoriness (SK) of its is 14. Lattice constants of quartz in Uljin pottery stones are 4.8865 $\AA$ in a-axis and 5.3852 $\AA$ in c-axis. Lattice constants were expanded by HCl treatment and sintering. Microstructures of Uljin pottery stones are linked up with the crystal particles under 10 microns in size.

  • Supply of ntrition-balanced feed is very important for growth of fish, especially for growth of early period of fish. Therefore, most of commercial feeds for larval and juvenile fish are relatively expensive due to high level of the several nutrients to satisfy their requirements for growth. Overfeeding larval fish may increase fish production cost because of larvae feeds high price and deteriorate water quality, eventually reduce growth of fish. (omitted)

  • Several nutrients in feed are needed for growth and maintenance of fish and protein among them is probably the most important factor influencing its growth and determining feed cost due to high Proportion. Besides, dietary energy level is critical because protein source in the feed was utilized as energy source when the feed deficient in energy was fed to fish, whereas when the feed excess in energy was fed to fish, feed consumption decreased and resulted in growth reduction due to lack of necessary other nutrients for the normal growth (Lovell 1989). • Cytogenetic and hematological analysis was performed in peripheral blood of cattle in the vicinity of Uljin nuclear power station and control area. The frequency of micronuclei(MN) in peripheral blood lymphocytes from cattle was used as a biomarker of radiobiological effects resulting from exposure to environmental radiation. An estimated dose of radiation was calculated by a best fitting linear-quadratic model based on the radiation-induced MN formation from the bovine lymphocytes exposed in vitro to radiation over the range from 0 Gy to 4 Gy. MN ratio in lymphocytes of cattle from Uljin nuclear power station and control area were 8.90/1,000 and 9.60/1,000, respectively. There were no significant differences in MN frequencies and hematological values in cattle between Uljin and control area.

  • Physiological responses and tolerance limit of hybrid striped bass $(Morone\;Chrysops\;male{\times}\;M.\;saxatilis\;female),$ were investigated on salinity changes from 33 psu to 0 psu and from 0 to psu 33 psu in two separate trials, respectively. In the acute salinity decrease from sea water (33 psu) to fresh water (0 psu), plasma level of cortisol, glucose, total protein, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) were not affected, however, $Na^+,\;Cl^-$ and osmolality significantly decreased. In the acute salinity increase from fresh water to sea water (33 psu), plasma cortisol level did not change. Glucose and total protein concentrations in plasma and hematocrit (Hct) decreased, whereas AST, ALT, $Na^+,\;Cl^-$ and osmolality increased. The hybrid striped bass can overcome the acute changes of salinity, from 0 psu to 33 psu or from 33 psu to 0 psu, But salinity decrease stressed the fish much more than salinity increase.
