  • It is essential to investigate the structure and the main characteristic of Home USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Network) technologies in built ubiquitous environment while designing future residential space. For this study, three different housing types have been selected to implement ubiquitous technologies for residential space; those are regular, elderly, and single residence units. It is certain that efficiency of ubiquitous home design is improved if main components of each specific housing type are analyzed precisely in digital way and design models are prepared accordingly. Ubiquitous technology, in conclusion, has to be applied not on)r with systematical mechanism or electronic setting but in human-centered atmosphere as well, keeping with deep consideration for bio-housing service factors in eco-friendly surrounding; we call this Ubiquitous Humanism.

  • With the introduction of the ubiquitous technology, the housing culture centers have demonstrated future housing image or technology. But Ubiquitous Home Services in the future housing were more focused on implementation of environment for the future than exhibition that consumers can experience. The purpose of this study was to identify ubiquitous home services which were realized in domestic future housing and to compare those with results of previous researches on demand for u-services. For this study, field study was conducted with 3 domestic future housings and 14 previous studies on demand of u-services were analyzed by the standard of residents demand. The results of the study showed that u-services for housework and leisure life more than those for security and health, were applied in the future housing. However, residents prefered u-services for security and control of indoor environment to those for housework and leisure life. As a result, it was found thatu-services which residents needed mainly were discordant with those that were displayed frequently in future housing. Also developing u-services reflected the needs of residents, a test bed has to be established in the future housing and then pre-evaluaiton can be conducted.

  • In this work, we have investigated the national economic effects of the ubiquitous industry(UI) for a u-Korea(ubiquitous Korea) project. Since the UI are now playing the more and more important role in Korean economy, it will be very appropriate to provide the policy makers with the accurate and reliable information regarding the role of UI in the national economy. This paper employs input-output analysis to examine the impacts of UI while carefully taking into account the unique situations of Korea. The meaningful results have been obtained by utilizing the rich experiences of the UI. To be more specific, the economic effects of UI on the production-inducing, added value-inducing, export & import-inducing and employments have been addressed in the work.

  • In this paper, we have studied about the ubiquitous service map for the effective u-City service providing. Through the research, we are going to propose the fact that it can be implemented ubiquitous services according to city characteristics. The proposed research could make it possible to be an intelligent decision making system by city characteristics. Also, nation, local government, companies can be assigned their appropriate load according to the proposed system for the effective u-City services.

  • Up to the present point in time, the level diagnosis system for urban reactivation have utilized various methods for establishment and management in Korea and overseas, such as city competitiveness evaluation, urban decay diagnosis, etc. However, contrary to performing diagnosis and evaluations on general cities in existing studies, it is found to be a very complex and difficult task to perform a diagnosis on the level of U-City due to its unique characteristics. It is difficult to determine the level of a U-City using a level diagnosis system used for general cities because a U-City is comprised of a connection/fusion of various structural elements. Therefore, in order to perform a systematic diagnosis of a U-City, it is necessary to primarily observe the structural characteristics of a U-city to derive a diagnosis system based on the relativity between each structural element. This study aims to propose a directivity of a U-City level diagnosis system in comprehensive consideration of various elements, such as the objective of a U-City, as well as the structural elements that compose a U-City based on the definitions prescribed in U-City legislations, including ubiquitous city planning, ubiquitous city infrastructure, ubiquitous city technology, services, etc. The results of this study are expected to provide a resolution for the regional quality differences of U-Cities, and also establish a stepping-stone for the realization of U-Cities with high degree of completion.

  • This paper represent a method of U-Learning based on advanced e-Learning. Ubiquitous computing configuration and advanced Information technology. As we know well, the 21th century is called knowledge based informational society. Many scholar stress that the improved 21th century's educational paradigm be able to success based on advanced educational paradigm. Therefore, we discuss the material for e-Learning fields including with necessity, vision, law, quality authorization etc. Also, we discuss the relational technologies including with meta data, standardization, identification etc. Finally, we propose a method for constructing the U-Learning based on advanced e-Learning and Ubiquitous computing configuration.

  • Up to now, a lot of houses, roads and other urban facilities have been damaged by natural disasters such as flash floods and landslides. It is reported that the size and frequency of disasters are growing greatly due to global warming. In order to mitigate such disaster, flood forecasting and alerting systems have been developed for the Han river, Geum river, Nak-dong river and Young-san river. These systems, however, do not help small municipal departments cope with the threat of flood. In this study, a real-time urban flood forecasting service (U-FFS) is developed for ubiquitous computing city which includes small river basins. A test bed is deployed at Tan-cheon in Gyeonggido to verify U-FFS. Wireless sensors such as rainfall gauge and water lever gauge are installed to develop hydrologic forecasting model and CCTV camera systems are also incorporated to capture high definition images of river basins. U-FFS is based on the ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System) that is data-driven model and is characterized by its accuracy and adaptability. It is found that U-FFS can forecast the water level of outlet of river basin and provide real-time data through internet during heavy rain. It is revealed that U-FFS can predict the water level of 30 minutes and 1 hour later very accurately. Unlike other hydrologic forecasting model, this newly developed U-FFS has advantages such as its applicability and feasibility. Furthermore, it is expected that U-FFS presented in this study can be applied to ubiquitous computing city (U-City) and/or other cities which have suffered from flood damage for a long time.

For this study, Thermistor elements and Thermopile black body have been selected to implement ubiquitous technologies for bio-sensors and wireless network such as WiBro has been used to transfer sensing data to the BSN (Bio-Sensor Network) gateway. It is certain that efficiency of ubiquitous space design is improved if main components of each specific sensor network are analyzed precisely in digital way and corresponding communication modules are prepared accordingly. • Ubiquitous computing indicates that can use communication network of high-capacity anytime, anywhere, anyone as meaning that network exist everywhere. Ubiquitous means computing environment that human can use computing technology naturally although a person does not feel computers because many computers distributed and linked each other. Current research of Ubiquitous is studied mainly at the United States of America, Japan, Europe, etc,. It is becoming new hot issue of IT field. In this research, we examines a trends and a development strategy of Ubiquitous market's such as the United States of America, Japan, Europe. And we study Information-oriented society based on Korea's Ubiquitous and u-Korea vision of new paradigm.
