In this paper, a low-power CMOS interface circuit is designed and demonstrated for capacitive sensor applications, which is implemented using a standard 0.35-${\mu}m$ CMOS logic technology. To achieve low-power performance, the low-voltage capacitance-to-pulse-width converter based on a self-reset operation at a supply voltage of 1.5 V is designed and incorporated into a new interface circuit. Moreover, the external pulse signal for the reset operation is made unnecessary by the employment of the self-reset operation. At a low supply voltage of 1.5 V, the new circuit requires a total power consumption of 0.47 mW with ultra-low power dissipation of 157 ${\mu}W$ of the interface-circuit core. These results demonstrate that the new interface circuit with self-reset operation successfully reduces power consumption. In addition, a prototype wireless sensor-module with the proposed circuit is successfully implemented for practical applications. Consequently, the new CMOS interface circuit can be used for the sensor applications in ubiquitous sensor networks, where low-power performance is essential.
Nowadays, ubiquitous technology which combines sensors and network technology is emerging and it is called ubiquitous sensor network (USN). In this paper, mobile application for baby care using smart sensor is proposed. The proposed mobile application consists of mobile networks to transfer the information. It detects various information such as falling detecting, crying and fever detecting of infants. It keeps infants from external threats. The developed mobile application will be examined by simulation.

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) can be used in military surveillance, in which highly confidential data needs to be transmitted. In effect, security becomes a very important aspect in such networks. We present an efficient key management scheme for WSN. Our scheme is an improvement over SHELL [1] and mostly relies on communication within a cluster of nodes.

In ubiquitous sensor networks(USNs), various sensing devices deployed in wireless sensor networks collect meaningful data from physical environments and the data are delivered to neighbor node through radio interfaces for further processing. In this processing, efficiently using of the limited source of low power and low cost is USNs on the point of energy consumption. In this paper, we measure and analyze the power consumption of LR-WPAN.

In this paper, an adaptive range aggregation spatial index method is proposed for spatial range query in ubiquitous sensor networks. As the ubiquitous sensor networks are the new information-oriented paradigm, many energy efficient spatial range query methods in ubiquitous sensor networks environment are studied vigorously. In sensor networks, users can monitor environment scalar data such as temperature and humidity during user defined time and spatial ranges. In order to execute spatial range query efficiently, rectangle based index methods are proposed, such as SPIX. But they define the return path as the opposite of its query transmit path. However, the sensor nodes in queried ranges are closed to each other, they can't aggregate the sensed value in a queried range because their query transmission paths are different. As a result, the previous methods waste energy unnecessarily to aggregate sensing data out of the queried range. In this paper, an adaptive aggregation index method is proposed that can aggregate values in a user defined range adaptively by using its neighbor information. It is shown that sensor power is saved efficiently by using the proposed method over the performance evaluation.
With the recent advances in Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) technology, low cost and low power consumption wireless micro sensor nodes have become available. However, energy-efficient routing is one of the most important key technologies in wireless sensor networks as sensor nodes are highly energy-constrained. Therefore, many researchers have proposed routing protocols for sensor networks, especially cluster-based routing protocols, which have many advantages such as reduced control messages, bandwidth re-usability, and improved power control. Some protocols use information on the locations of sensor nodes to construct clusters efficiently. However, it is rare that all sensor nodes know their positions. In this article, we propose another cluster-based routing protocol for sensor networks. This protocol does not use information concerning the locations of sensor nodes, but uses the remaining energy of sensor networks and the desirable number of cluster heads according to the circumstances of the sensor networks. From performance simulation, we found that the proposed protocol shows better performance than the low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH).

Recently, In order to provide ubiquitous service, we develop each middleware and interface for sensors networks, RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) and GPS(Global Positioning System). We use GPS for the location-based services, RFID for identifying the distribution logistics services, sensor networks for collecting the context data such as temperature, humidity, barometric pressure. Recently, there is increasing the need of integrated interface for using these sensor elements complexly in agriculture and livestock, construction, medical applications and, etc. This paper developments a integrated common interface for supporting efficiently process of sensing data using RFID, GPS and sensor network. This interface have the filtering function, parsing function, queuing function, interface management function, access function and, etc. We present the integrated frame structure combined with the collected context data in GPS, RFID and sensor networks and, support the open interface for providing complex ubiquitous application systems. Therefore, this interface will be efficiently used the system using RFID, GPS and sensor network, and supported many ubiquitous application services.
MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Network)s have been researched primary at routing protocols and at the guarantees of QoS(Quality of Service) for mobile environments. Otherwise the Ubiquitous Sensor Networks (USNs) have some limitations in power energies and in processing of sensing data, as well as their network topologies are frequently changed by fading off and node failures. Thus we should redesign network protocols with concerning to energy efficiency for the USNs above all. In this paper, we focus on the protocol interface for managing for USNs based on the surveys. And then we figure the topology of USNs out and design the network protocol interface to make power saved, with data gathering and processing more efficient using our designed packet structures.

Security is critically important for ubiquitous sensor networks that are usually used for the military and serveillance in environments that are opened to attacks, such as, eavesdroping, replay attacks of abnormal messages, forgery of the messages to name a few. ZigBee has emerged as a strong contender for ubiquitous sensor networks. ZigBee is used for low data rate and low power wireless sensor network applications. To deploy ubiquitous sensor networks, the collected information requires protection from an adversary over the network in many cases. The security mechanism should be provided for collecting the information over the network. However, the ZigBee protocol has some security weaknesses. In this paper, these weaknesses are discussed and a method to improve security aspect of the ZigBee protocol is presented along with a comparison of the message complexity of the proposed security protocol with that of the current ZigBee protocol.
