  • Ubiquitous computing is an emerging technic for various areas such as public, private (individual), military, industrial, medical sectors. The applications of ubiquitous computing are expected to be prevailed from home to office. Unfortunately, it is not effective to apply existing system/software development methodologies into this emerging ubiquitous computing applications. In this paper, MBASE (Model-Based system Architecting and Software Engineering) is applied as a development method of ubiquitous computing applications. The advantage of MBASE is to identify mismatches of product, process, property, and success models and resolve them in developing the ubiquitous computing applications. A SmartView, a ubiquitous computing application, is presented as a case study o f MBASE.

  • The emergence of ubiquitous autonomic computing and network environment will change the service architecture information system which will be a new application area in SCM/logistics systems. In this study we surveyed the technical trend map of ubiquitous and its application in SCM/logistics support system design. We described the evolutional model of ubiquitous computing community for SCM/logistics system. It is consisted of three view points; self-growing, autonomic, and context-aware, which will allow the decision makers to be benefited from web and mobile technology and are useful for proactive SCM/logistics support system. Finally, we suggested a cooperative research planning for the development ubiquitous system between the government research center, university, and industry research activities.

  • Ubiquitous Computing은 소프트웨어 Architecture를 구현하는데 있어서 많은 도전들을 필요로 한다. 그 중에 하나는 User가 한 컴퓨터에서 다른 컴퓨터로 이동할 경우의 User Mobility를 고려한 것으로 User뿐 아니라 Application도 같이 이동하여 예전의 컴퓨팅 환경을 그대로 복원하게 되며 User가 작업하던 뜯을 계속해서 할 수 있게 만드는 것이다. 본 논문은 이러한 Ubiquitous Computing 환경을 만들기 위해 MuSa Architecture를 제안하고, Application 이동에 필요한 Manager들을 설명하도록 한다.

  • The object of this paper is to describe the ubiquitous computing technologies for ship, which is produced and assembled by many steel blocks. It includes the testing of a 2.4GHz wireless communications platforms and radio-frequency identification technology with the blocks disturbing the wireless communication. The power line communication that is established in a ship already is also experimented for some data transfer. Also, possible application areas of the ubiquitous computing technology to ships are discussed. At last, the test bed copied from an actual vessel was installed and data acquisition tests were established using wire and wireless communication. In this paper, we implemented some ubiquitous computing technologies in the test bed simulating a ship environment and investigated the basic characteristics of ubiquitous computing technologies.

  • The emergence of ubiquitous computing environment will change the service architecture of business information systems such as Decision Support System(DSS), which will be a new application. Recent mobile DSSs allow the decision makers to be benefited from web and mobile technology. However, they seldom refer to context data, which are useful for proactive decision support. Meanwhile, ubiquitous applications so far provide restricted personalization service using context and preference of the user, that is, they do not fully make use of decision making capabilities. Hence, this paper aims to describe how the decision making capability and context-aware computing are jointly used to establish ubiquitous applications. To do so, an amended DSS paradigm: CKDDM(Context-Knowledge-Dialogue-Data-Model) is proposed in this paper. What will be considered for the future decision support systems when we regard ubiquitous computing technology as an inevitable impact that enforces the change of the way of making decisions are described. Under the CKDDM paradigm, a framework of ubiquitous decision support systems(ubiDSS) is addressed with the description of the subsystems within. To show the feasibility of ubiDSS, a prototype system, CAMA-myOpt(Context-Aware Multi Agent System-My Optimization) has been implemented as an illustrative example system.

  • 최근 급속하게 발달하고 있는 컴퓨터 네트워크와 인터넷을 기반으로 시간과 공간적인 제약에 구애받지 않고 지능적인 서비스를 수행하기 위한 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅(Ubiquitous Computing)이 등장하였다. 이러한 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅을 가능하게 하는 핵심 기술로 물리 적 객체에 부착된 태그의 정보를 무선 주파수를 통하여 처리하는 RFID(Radio Frequency Identification : 무선 주파수 식별) 기술이 주목받고 있다. 그러나 현재 RFID 관련 연구는 태그와 리더에 관련된 하드웨어적인 연구들만 활발하게 진행되고 있고, 실제 이를 서비스하기 위한 소프트웨어 기술과 관련된 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅의 핵심 기술로 주목 받고 있는 RFID응용 서비스를 효율적으로 처리 할 수 있는 소프트웨어 아키텍처에 관한 연구를 진행하였다. 먼저 기존에 제안된 EPC 네트워크 아키텍처와 어플리케이션 개발 및 통합에 이용되는 개념적인 어플리케이션 아키텍처들의 특징을 비교 및 분석하고 각각의 아키텍처들이 가지고 있는 장 단점을 기반으로 새로운 아키텍처를 제안하였다.

  • In this paper, an environmental monitoring and diagnosis system based on ubiquitous computing technology, shortly u-Eco Monitoring System, is proposed. u-Eco Monitoring System is designed to: 1) Collect information from the manufacturing processes via ubiquitous computing technology, 2) Analyze the current status, 3) Identify the cause of problem if detected by rule-based and case-based reasoning, and 4) Provide the results to the operator for proper decision making. Based on functional modeling, a generic architecture is derived, followed by application to a manufacturing system in iron and steel making industry. Finally, to show the validity of the proposed method, a prototype is developed and tested. The developed methods can be used as a conceptual framework for designing environmental monitoring and diagnosis system for industrial practices by which monitoring accuracy and response time for abnormal status can be significantly enhanced, and relieving operator pressure from manual monitoring and error-prone decision making.

  • 최근 인터넷의 보급 및 컴퓨터 네트워크 기술의 발전과 더불어 차세대 컴퓨팅 패러다임으로 불리는 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅(Ubiquitous Computing)을 실현하기 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이는 컴퓨터 네트워크와 인터넷을 기반으로 하여 시공간의 제약에 구애 받지 않고 인간을 중심으로 한 서비스를 수행하는 기준이 될 것이다. 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅을 위한 핵심 기술로서 USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network)이 제시되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는, 센서 정보를 표준화된 형태로 서술하기 위한 정보 서술 표준과 USN 센서 서비스에 대한 디렉토리 서비스 프로토콜 응용 표준에 대해 연구하였다.
