  • An optical sensor was developed to detect nanoparticles, turbid materials and microorganisms in water simultaneously. Three different light sources like UV-LED, NIR-LED and laser diode have been employed to develop the optical sensor based on the scattering light and fluorescence light. The sensor system has high selectivity and sensitivity, that it can be used to monitor the quality of drinking water.

  • $Ga_2O_3$ one-dimensional (1D) nanostructures were synthesized by using a thermal evaporation technique. The morphology, crystal structure, and sensing properties of the $Ga_2O_3$ nanostructures functionalized with Pt to $NO_2$ gas at room temperature under UV irradiation were examined. The diameters of the 1D nanostructures ranged from a few tens to a few hundreds of nanometers and the lengths ranged up to a few hundreds of micrometers. Pt nanoparticles with diameters of a few tens of nanometers were distributed around a $Ga_2O_3$ nanorod. The responses of the nanorods gas sensors fabricated from multiple networked $Ga_2O_3$ nanorods were improved 3-4 fold at $NO_2$ concentrations ranging from 1 to 5 ppm by Pt functionalization. The Pt-functionalized $Ga_2O_3$ nanorod gas sensors showed a remarkably enhanced response at room temperature under ultraviolet (UV) light illumination. In addition, the mechanisms via which the gas sensing properties of $Ga_2O_3$ nanorods are enhanced by Pt functionalization and UV irradiation are discussed.

  • This paper presents integrated polymeric spectrometer module which offers compact size, easily-fabricated structure and low cost. The proposed spectrometer module includes the nano diffraction grating with non-uniform pitch and planar optical waveguide with concave mirror to be fabricated by UV imprint lithography. To increase the reflection efficiency, we designed the nano diffraction grating with triangular profiles. The polymeric planar spectrometer includes a spectral bandwidth of 700 nm, resolution of 10 nm and precision below 5 nm. This polymeric planar spectrometer is well-suited for sensor system.

  • Herein, we propose a simple fabrication method for MXene-coated V-groove sensors for applications. To enhance the sensitivity of this sensor, we applied MXene particles, instead of conventional metal layers, as a sensing material on the sensor's surface. This allows for an easier fabrication, as well as higher sensitivity of the sensor compared to those of our previously demonstrated metal-based V-groove sensor. Additionally, polyurethane-acrylate, a UV-curable liquid polymer, can be easily applied using micro-electromechanical systems-based surface-texture micromachining. The sensor sensitivity is approximately 0.08 /mm, and it can be improved by increasing the number of V-grooves. We believe that the proposed MXene-based wearable sensor offers a great potential in detecting various types of motions characteristic of human activities.

  • There are many studies and products using a test paper impregnated with chemical solution can react with ozone. The color of a test paper can indicate the concentration of ozone. The purpose of this research is to design and manufacture a system using ultraviolet light source to measure the ozone density. This new technique is based on the characteristic of decomposition from ozone into oxygen under ultraviolet light. We used two sources of ultraviolet light including UV lamp and UVLED to determine the decomposition of ozone. This system is built with the electronic components, sensors and sealed pump tube to measure the ozone density in units of $g/cm^3$,ppm,ppb. In this paper,, we present some initial results of measuring the ozone density from ozone generator after completing inspection for safety.

  • Er-doped ZnO(ZnO:Er) films were deposited onto MgO wafers by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis at 550 $^{\circ}C$ varying the concentration of Er in the deposition source from 0.5 wt% to 3.0 wt%. Annealing of the films in a vacuum was carried out to increase the intensity of ultraviolet(UV) emission from the films. The annealing temperature was between 600$^{\circ}C$ and 800$^{\circ}C$. The crystallographic properties and surface morphology of the films were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscope(SEM), respectively. The properties of photoluminescence(PL) for the films were investigated by the dependence of PL spectra on the annealing temperature. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) was conducted to find the composition change in the films by the annealing.

  • In this study, automatic assembly and evaluation system fer phone camera module is conceptually designed. The designed core(Auto focus & UV curing, Image Test) equipments adopts a clustering mechanism and compactible structure using index table for minimum tact time. Using a ball screw actuator and absolute encoder in each axis, we can verifies the repeatability and position accuracy of system within ${\pm}3{\mu}m$. In result of simulation test, the proposed system is expected up to 30% in productivity than manual operation.

  • The Third Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded that many collective observations gave a aspect of a global warming and other changes in the climate system. Future earth observation using satellite data should monitor global climate change, and should contribute to social benefits. Especially, human activities has given the big impacts to earth environment This is a very complex affair, and nature itself also impacts the clouds, namely the seasonal variations. JAXA (former NASDA) has the plan of the Global Change Observation Mission (GCOM) for monitoring of global environmental change. SGLI (Second Generation GLI) onboard GCOM-C (Climate) satellite, which is one of this mission, is an optical sensor from Near-UV to TIR. This sensor is the GLI follow-on sensor, which has the various new characteristics. Polarized/multi-directional channels and 250m resolution channels are the unique characteristics on this sensor. This sensor can be contributed to clarification of coastal change in sea surface. This paper shows the introduction of the unique aspects and characteristics of the next generation satellite sensor, SGLIIGCOM-C, and shows the preliminary research for this sensor.
