A Study on The Quality Comparison of Software Packages for Statistical Analyses (통계처리용 소프트웨어 패키지의 품질 비교에 관한 연구)

  • The multiplicity of software packages brings about a choice problem to the end-user and a multi-fold intensity to the competing developer. This study intends to provide guidelines solving the problems for both the end-user and the developer of packages for automatic statistical analyses. For the purpose, we adopt an appropriate evaluation model in terms of user-perceived quality through the applicable criteria and an evaluation method. The result of empirical study is described, which shows that the weight of each criterion is dynamic along usage levels. Briefly, functionality, usability, and reliability are key factors to contribute to the perceived quality. The empirical study also illustrates a comparative analysis on the dominant products, SAS and SPSS, in Korea.

User Experience Evaluation of Menstrual Cycle Measurement Application Using Text Mining Analysis Techniques (텍스트 마이닝 분석 기법을 활용한 월경주기측정 애플리케이션 사용자 경험 평가)

  • This study conducted user experience evaluation by introducing various text mining techniques along with topic modeling techniques for mobile menstrual cycle measurement applications that are closely related to women's health and analyzed the results by combining them with a honeycomb model. To evaluate the user experience revealed in the menstrual cycle measurement application review, 47,117 Korean reviews of the menstrual cycle measurement application were collected. Topic modeling analysis was conducted to confirm the overall discourse on the user experience revealed in the review, and text network analysis was conducted to confirm the specific experience of each topic. In addition, sentimental analysis was conducted to understand the emotional experience of users. Based on this, the development strategy of the menstrual cycle measurement application was presented in terms of accuracy, design, monitoring, data management, and user management. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the accuracy and monitoring function of the menstrual cycle measurement of the application should be improved, and it was observed that various design attempts were required. In addition, the necessity of supplementing personal information and the user's biometric data management method was also confirmed. By exploring the user experience (UX) of the menstrual cycle measurement application in-depth, this study revealed various factors experienced by users and suggested practical improvements to provide a better experience. It is also significant in that it presents a methodology by combines topic modeling and text network analysis techniques so that researchers can closely grasp vast amounts of review data in the process of evaluating user experiences.

  • As information radically increases owing to the proliferation of Internet, users are highly interested in information design that enables them to easily approach the information desired by them and shows the unsystematic information in summarized and recognizable information by rearrangement. In the problem, general users could not easily recognize such information design, because it was not designed on the basis of understanding the situation where users actually contacted, but used the method that visualized based on the result which emphasized the aspect of system. Studying map information retrieval site for improvement of efficiency of information delivery, this research analyzed user interface design problems of map information service through evaluation list acquired by investigating user interface design principle and mutually comparing with information visualization system evaluation standard.

  • With the rapid industrialization and civilization development, noise has become a major problem in cities and is a very serious issue for the environment. Noise induced in a factory has a bad influenced on operation efficiency, accuracy and detail of work. The purpose of this paper is to develop a new noise evaluation software for predicting acoustic condition including noise properties during the design of a factory. Majority of commercial softwares for this purpose have been developed in foreign countries and they are quite expensive and hard to use. A new home-made software tool has been developed in the present work, which aimed at providing a more user-friendly environment. The tool developed in this work consists of four major part; the prediction and evaluation of noise in system design, database design, noise analysis development and 3D graphic modeling. The outcome of present work is expected to provide domestic users with a more user-friendly and economic acoustic design tool.

Another View Point on the Performance Evaluation of an MC-DS-CDMA System

  • The results of performance analysis by adopting the channel scenarios characterized as Weibull fading for an multicarrierdirect sequence-coded division multiple access (MC-DS-CDMA) system are proposed in this investigation. On the other hand, an approximate simple expression with the criterion of bit error rate (BER) versus signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) method is derived for an MC-DS-CDMA system combining with maximal ratio combining (MRC) diversity based on the moment generating function (MGF) formula of Weibull statistics, and it associates with an alternative expression of Gaussian Q-function. Besides, the other point of view on the BER performance evaluation of an MC-DS-CDMA system is not only the assumption of both single-user and multi-user cases applied, but the phenomena of partial band interference (PBI) is also included. Moreover, in order to validate the accuracy in the derived formulas, some of the system parameters, such as Weibull fading parameter (${\beta}$), user number (K), spreading chip number (N), branch number (L), and the PBI (JSR) values, etc., are compared with each other in the numerical results. To the best of author's knowledge, it is a brand new idea which proposes the evaluation of the system performance for an MC-DS-CDMA system over the point of view with Weibull fading channel.

  • Video protocol analysis is a popular and effective technique in many research disciplines including industrial design and HCI for understanding the interactions between people, and between people and machines. Analysing and transcribing video recordings is, however, notoriously time consuming, and a variety of single-user computer based tools have been developed to ease the task. This paper examines collaborative video analysis. The motivation for groupware tools for video analysis is described, and the desirable features of such tools are identified. The following section reviews related work on video analysis and on single-user video analysis tools. The review is used to derive a set of design goals for collaborative video analysis tools. We then detail prototype's user interface, its collaborative facilities, and its implementation. The preliminary evaluation is described prior the conclusions which identify directions for further work.

  • Information is an essential factor leading the rapid progress which is one of the distinguished characteristics in modem society. As more information is required and as more is supplied by individuals, governmental units, businesses, and educational institutions, the greater will be the requirement for efficient methods of communication. One possibility for improving the information dissemination process is to use computers. The capabilities of such machine are beginning to be used in the process of Information storage, retrieval and dissemination. An important problems, that must be carefully examined is whether one technique for information retrieval is better for worse than another. This paper examines problem of how to evaluate an information retrieval system. One specific approach is a cost accounting model for use in studying how to minimize the cost of operating a mechanized retrieval system. Through the use of cost analysis, the model provides a method for comparative evaluation between systems. The general cost accounting model of the literature retrieval system being designed by this study are given below. 1. The total cost accounting model of the literature retrieval system. The total cost of the literature retrieval system = (the cost per unit of user time X the amount of user time) + ( the cost per unit of system time X the amount of system time) 2. System cost accounting model system cost = (the pre-search system cost per unit of time X time) + (the search system cost per unit of time X time) + (the post search system cost per unit of time X time) 1) Pre-search system cost per unit of time = cost of channel per unit time + cost of central processing unit per unit time + cost of storage per unit time 2) Search system cost per unit of time = comparison cost + document representation cost. 3) Post-search system cost per unit of time. = cost of channel per unit time + cost of central processing unit per unit time + cost of storage per unit time 3.   • This study compares and analyzes user experiences of intelligent personal assistant services based on the evaluation criteria of human-computer interaction to explore positive elements of user experiences and factors that could be improved. The research was conducted on Apple's Siri, Google's Google Associate, and Samsung's Bixby, which is presently the smartest personal assistant service on the market. The research method was to compare and analyze the concepts and characteristics of the current services through a literature review and by interviewing seven UI/UX design experts for the second 2 weeks using contextual inquiry. The interview reorganized Peter Morville's user experience honeycomb, reducing his seven usability principles down to five, asking questions about usability, convenience, visual attractiveness, reliability, and satisfaction. On the basis of the reconfigured usability principle, the assessment was conducted on the basis of the assessment timing and the system usability scale. This study is meaningful in that it analyzed the user experience of artificial intelligence personal assistant services both quantitatively and qualitatively.

  • This study examines user satisfaction in public libraries nationwide. It analyzes service quality factors that affect user satisfaction of public library patrons and identify sub-factors of service quality that affect the overall user satisfaction. User satisfaction factors were developed to measure library satisfaction in all aspects of the library service. Six variables were identified, including volume of books, staff, programs, facilities, online services, and information availability. According to survey findings, general library satisfaction was strongly correlated with information availability, facilities, and staff. Relatively lower levels of satisfaction were identified in the areas of online services and programs. All six service quality factors were statistically significantly associated with user satisfaction, where information availability, facilities, and volume of books showed stronger associations than the other three factors.

  • This study aims to develop a comprehensive technological framework anchored in a theoretical model to assess user satisfaction with university library websites (ULWs) in Myanmar. Adopting a quantitative approach, data were obtained via convenience sampling and subsequent inferential analysis. The target population for this study investigated users of various ULWs in Myanmar who were utilizing six university libraries. Of the collected responses, 273 valid surveys were analyzed using SPSS (version 25) and AMOS. Tools such as structural equation modeling and confirmatory factor analysis played pivotal roles in data interpretation and hypothesis validation. The proposed model highlights the significance of information quality, system quality, and librarian services in influencing both perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEOU), culminating in user satisfaction. Notably, information quality and librarian services primarily impact PU, while system quality is more influential on PEOU. Interestingly, while PU has a direct bearing on user satisfaction, PEOU does not. Moreover, demographic elements such as age, gender, and education level introduce considerable differences in the utilization of ULW services. Drawing from the study's findings, recommendations are made for ULW managers in Myanmar to bolster services, aligning with user preferences. The resulting framework offers tangible benefits to Myanmar's educational sector, including academia, government entities, librarians, and policy framers. This pioneering research delves into the realm of ULWs in Myanmar's higher education sector. Practically, the research underscores the necessity for stakeholders, encompassing Myanmar's library experts and governing bodies, to elevate the standard of ULWs. Theoretically, a salient takeaway is the direct linkage between heightened usefulness and increased user satisfaction.
