  • The development of an enrichment method for the rapid and effective identification of Salmonella spp. in sewage or food was studied. As a growth factor for Salmonella, 10 mM cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) in trypticase soy broth with 0.6% yeast extract (TSBYE) increased cell number five-folds and 0.6% yeast extract in selenite broth increased cell number ten-folds of control. Bile salts in selenite broth was tested for the selection of S. enteritidis in a mixture with Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Lactobacillus plantarum and Escherichia coli. The latter four strains were effectively inhibited at 0.1% bile salt. A two-step culture method was used to enrich Salmonella spp.; a primary-enrichment and secondary- enrichment culture. At a primary-enrichment step, selenite broth with 0.6% yeast extract and 10 mM cAMP was used, and at a secondary-enrichment step, 0.1% bile salt was additionally used. Culture times of a primary- enrichment and a secondary-enrichment step were 8 hr and 6 hr, respectively. In this procedure, cell number increased from 10$^{0.3}$ to 10$^{8.5}$ with inhibition of other strains within 14 hr. In the case of an initial cell concentrarion as low as 10$^{-2}$ cfu/ml, a cell number increased to 10$^{7}$ cfu/ml by using a 10 hr primary-enrichment and 6 hr secondary-enrichment procedure.

  • This paper presents a circuit configuration of multilevel inverter to increase the number of output voltage levels by using conventional 5-level inverters connected in series. Most of all it can maximize the number of output voltage levels by employing input voltage sources, which have the power of five. When it synthesizes the same number of output voltage levels, the proposed inverter can save the number of switching devices compared with the conventional cascaded H-bridge cell inverter. So it can reduce the size, cost, power consumption of the system. We implemented computer-aided simulation and experiments for a 25-level inverter employing two 5-level inverters.

  • The horizontal thermal storage tank with heat pipe which is suitable for the sensible heat storage system is able to store a hot water from the heat source such as heating pad efficiently and to supply a hot water to load rapidly. And arrangement of heating pad play an important role in thermal flow and thermal storage efficiency. In this experiments, number of heating pad is ranged from three, five and nine, and when there is no change on number of heating pad, arrangements are two types of concentration-type and dispersion-type. Strong entrainment take place in the case of concentration-type of heating pad, and rapid temperature rise(${\Delta}{\doteqdot}1.6{\sim}3.2^{\circ}C$) in the tank is obtainable on the concentration-type than dispersion-type. In the constant number of heating pad, the concentration-type has the higher efficiency with about $5{\sim}6%$ than the dispersion-type Therefore, concentration-type of heating pad is an efficient design in constant number of heating pad.

A Heuristic Polynomial Time Algorithm for Crew Scheduling Problem

  • This paper suggests heuristic polynomial time algorithm for crew scheduling problem that is a kind of optimization problems. This problem has been solved by linear programming, set cover problem, set partition problem, column generation, etc. But the optimal solution has not been obtained by these methods. This paper sorts transit costs $c_{ij}$ to ascending order, and the task i and j crew paths are merged in case of the sum of operation time ${\Sigma}o$ is less than day working time T. As a result, we can be obtain the minimum number of crews $_{min}K$ and minimum transit cost $z=_{min}c_{ij}$. For the transit cost of specific number of crews $K(K>_{min}K)$, we delete the maximum $c_{ij}$ as much as the number of $K-_{min}K$, and to partition a crew path. For the 5 benchmark data, this algorithm can be gets less transit cost than state-of-the-art algorithms, and gets the minimum number of crews.

  • It has long been known that weapon target assignment (WTA) problem is NP-hard. Nonetheless, an exact solution can be found using Brute-Force or branch-and bound method which utilize approximation. Many heuristic algorithms, genetic algorithm particle swarm optimization, etc., have been proposed which provide near-optimal solutions in polynomial time. This paper suggests polynomial time algorithm that can be obtain the optimal solution of WTA problem for the number of total weapons k, the number of weapon types m, and the number of targets n. This algorithm performs k times for O(mn) so the algorithm complexity is O(kmn). The proposed algorithm can be minimize the number of trials than brute-force method and can be obtain the optimal solution.

Development of Traffic Accident Prediction Model Based on Traffic Node and Link Using XGBoost (XGBoost를 이용한 교통노드 및 교통링크 기반의 교통사고 예측모델 개발)

  • This study intends to present a traffic node-based and link-based accident prediction models using XGBoost which is very excellent in performance among machine learning models, and to develop those models with sustainability and scalability. Also, we intend to present those models which predict the number of annual traffic accidents based on road types, weather conditions, and traffic information using XGBoost. To this end, data sets were constructed by collecting and preprocessing traffic accident information, road information, weather information, and traffic information. The SHAP method was used to identify the variables affecting the number of traffic accidents. The five main variables of the traffic node-based accident prediction model were snow cover, precipitation, the number of entering lanes and connected links, and slow speed. Otherwise, those of the traffic link-based accident prediction model were snow cover, precipitation, the number of lanes, road length, and slow speed. As the evaluation results of those models, the RMSE values of those models were each 0.2035 and 0.2107. In this study, only data from Sejong City were used to our models, but ours can be applied to all regions where traffic nodes and links are constructed. Therefore, our prediction models can be extended to a wider range.

The Chromatic Number Algorithm in a Planar Graph (평면의 채색수 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, I seek the chromatic number, the maximum number of colors necessary when adjoining vertices in the plane separated apart at the distance of 1 shall receive distinct colors. The upper limit of the chromatic number has been widely accepted as $4{\leq}{\chi}(G){\leq}7$ to which Hadwiger-Nelson proposed ${\chi}(G){\leq}7$ and Soifer ${\chi}(G){\leq}9$ I firstly propose an algorithm that obtains the minimum necessary chromatic number and show that ${\chi}(G)=3$ is attainable by determining the chromatic number for Hadwiger-Nelson's hexagonal graph. The proposed algorithm obtains a chromatic number of ${\chi}(G)=4$ assuming a Hadwiger-Nelson's hexagonal graph of 12 adjoining vertices, and again ${\chi}(G)=4$ for Soifer's square graph of 8 adjoining vertices. assert. Based on the results as such that this algorithm suggests the maximum chromatic number of a planar graph is ${\chi}(G)=4$ using simple assigned rule of polynomial time complexity to color for a vertex with minimum degree.

  • A number of Internet application services are used with the development of Internet backbone nowadays. Well-known services such as WWW, ]n, email are provided at first time. Tremendous unwell-known services are presented according to the demands of various contents. After analyzing PDU information of the packet using unwell-known port travelling on the internet, searching internet service type and its statistical data is provided with internet traffic analyst as very useful information. This paper presents the mechanism to extract the internet application services operated on (un)well-known port of UDP or TCP used occasionally through netflow and tcpdump method introduced by ethereal and the operation scheme of the service. Afterwards to get the detailed statistics of the analyzed application service, the agent and the server environment, the agent gathering raw data traffics and the server adapting the traffic received from the agent BNF(Backus-Naur Form) method, is also introduced. Adapting the presented mechanism eve. LAN of Andong national university, the internet traffic service type and the detailed statistics of the analyzed application services which provides with internet traffic analyst are presented as very useful information.

High-Voltage 4H-SiC pn diode with Field Limiting Ring Termination (Field Limiting Ring termination을 이용한 고전압 4H-SiC pn 다이오드)

  • 4H-SiC un diodes with field limiting rings(FLRs) were fabricated and characterized. The dependences of reverse breakdown voltage on the number of FLRs, the distance between p-base main junction and first FLR, and activation temperatures, were investigated. Al and B ions were implanted and activated at high temperature to form p-base region and p+ region in the n-epilayer. We have obtained up to 1782V of reverse breakdown voltage in the un diode with two FLRs on loom thick epilayer. The differential on-resistances of the fabricated diode are $5.3m{\Omega}cm^2$ at $100A/cm^2$ and $2.7m{\Omega}cm^2$ at $1kA/cm^2$, respectively. All pn diodes with FLRs have higher avalanche breakdown voltages than that of diode without an FLR. Regardless of the activation temperature, the un diode with a FLR located 5um apart from main junction has the highest mean breakdown voltage around 1600V among the diodes with one ring. On the other hand, the pn diode with two rings showed different behavior with activation temperature. It reveals that high voltage SiC pn diodes with low on-resistance can be fabricated by using the FLR edge termination.

  • A study of new materials that are light-weight, high in strength has become vital to the machinery of auto industries. But then, there are a lot of problems with developing such materials that require expensive tools, and a great deal of time and effort. Therefore, the improvement of fatigue strength and fatigue life are mainly focused on by adopting residual stress. And Influence of corrosive condition for corrosion fatigue crack was investigated, after immersing in 3.5%NaCl, $10%HNO_3$+3.5%HF, $6%FeCl_3$. The immersion period was performed for 365days. The compressive residual stress was imposed on the surface according to each shot velocity based on shot peening, which is the method of improving fatigue life and strength. Fatigue life shows more improvement in the shot peened material than in the un peened material in corrosion conditions. The threshold stress intensity factor range was decreased in corrosion environments over ambient. Compressive residual stress of surface on the Shot-peen processed operate resistance force of fatigue crack propagation. The fatigue crack growth rate of the Shot-peened material was lower than that of the un peened material. Also m, fatigue crack growth exponent and number of cycle of the shot peened material was higher than that of the un peened material. That is concluded from effect of da/dN.
