We present B, V, I time series CCD photometry for the variable star TU UMi to classify its variable type. The observations were performed using 61cm telescope equipped with 2K CCD camera at Sobaeksan Optical Astronomy Observatory (SOAO). Judging from the amplitude ratio $({\Delta}i/{\Delta}v)$ and color variation $({\Delta}(b-v),\;{\Delta}(v-i))$. TU UMi should be a W UMa type eclipsing binary. We obtained two primary times of minimum lights (HJD 2453848.0446, HJD 2453848.2309) from our observations and determined new orbital elements (Min I=HJD 2452500.1344+0.37708907${\times}$E) for TU UMi.

We obtain the first complete CCD light curves (LCs) of the contact binary AP UMi in the VRI bands and analyzed them by means of the PHOEBE code. A spotted model is applied to treat the asymmetry in the LCs. The LC morphology clearly shows the O'Connell effect and the solution shows an influence of star spots on both components. Such effect of star spots is common between the RS CVn and W UMa chromospherically active stars. Based on the obtained solution of the LCs we investigate the evolutionary state of the components and conclude that the system is a pre-intermediate contact binary (f = 0.29) with mass ratio q = 0.38, and it is an A-type W UMa system where the less massive secondary component is cooler than the more massive primary one.
Hybrid capture-based targeted sequencing is being used increasingly for genomic variant profiling in tumor patients. Unique molecular index (UMI) technology has recently been developed and helps to increase the accuracy of variant calling by minimizing polymerase chain reaction biases and sequencing errors. However, UMI-adopted targeted sequencing data analysis is slightly different from the methods for other types of omics data, and its pipeline for variant calling is still being optimized in various study groups for their own purposes. Due to this provincial usage of tools, our group built an analysis pipeline for global application to many studies of targeted sequencing generated with different methods. First, we generated hybrid capture-based data using genomic DNA extracted from tumor tissues of colorectal cancer patients. Sequencing libraries were prepared and pooled together, and an 8-plexed capture library was processed to the enrichment step before 150-bp paired-end sequencing with Illumina HiSeq series. For the analysis, we evaluated several published tools. We focused mainly on the compatibility of the input and output of each tool. Finally, our laboratory built an analysis pipeline specialized for UMI-adopted data. Through this pipeline, we were able to estimate even on-target rates and filtered consensus reads for more accurate variant calling. These results suggest the potential of our analysis pipeline in the precise examination of the quality and efficiency of conducted experiments.
We study on the standing crop and edaphic factor of grasslands in Chulwon near the D.M.Z. The widespread and most abundant grasses are Arundinella hirta and Miscanthus sinensis in the upland fields of D.M.Z. The vascular flora of grasslands in Umi-dong and Sukda-dong near the D.M.Z. and composed of total 25 species, the most important of which ace Arundinella hirta and Miscanthus sinensis These two species contribute greatly to the standing crop of live naterial was in excess of $107.6g /m^2$. Correlation between standing ccop and water content, organic matter, total nitrogen, or avail-able phosphorus of grassland soils in area studied is high significant. It is argued that these edaphic factors affect the growth of grasses in Umi-dong and Sukda-dong grasslands.

MIMO systems utilizing multiple antenna transmission and reception is one of the key technologies to enhance the capacity of 5G wireless communications. In order to obtain an appropriate performance evaluation of MIMO techniques, the usage of wireless channel model reflecting spatial channel characteristics is required, such as the 3-dimensional spatial channel model(3D SCM) proposed by 3GPP TR36.873 documentation. In this paper, we implement and verify the channel simulation environment based on 3D SCM, to present and compare the characteristics of UMi and UMa environments. We also apply MIMO transmission to the UMa scenario to investigate the channel correlation among antenna elements with different array distances and to identify the corresponding throughput changes. By evaluating the channel power correlations for randomly distributed users within the sector for different horizontal and vertical antenna distances, we present the statistical characteristics which determine the transmission performance under the SCM environment.

In this study, to evaluate the anti-obesity effects of mulberry leaf tea and its fermented product by Monascus pilosus, we investigated body and organ weight, blood and liver biomarkers in mice fed 1% tea infusions instead of water for 8 weeks. Mice were divided into three groups such as a normal control (NC), unfermented mulberry leaf tea infusion (UMI) and fermented mulberry leaf tea infusion (FMI). Although it is not significant, tea infusion groups showed reduction of body weight gains compared with NC group. Moreover, contents of LDL-cholesterol and lipid peroxide (LPO), altherogenic index, and xanthin oxidase (XO) activity were significantly decreased, and glutathione S-transferase (GST) activity was significantly elevated. The results from this study suggested that UMI and FMI may have an anti-obesity activity, upregulate antioxidant enzymes and reduce levels of oxidants related to liver damage.

This thesis defines an end-to-end billing process model. The processes in the model can be mapped to the TMN(Telecommunications Management Network) model which is based on an international telecommunications management standard. We have identified two interfaces in this billing process model. Part 1 of this thesis provides a protocol-independent design of the UAI(Usage Accounting interface) between the service provider and the network provider. Part 2 of this thesis provides information modeling of the UMI(Usage Metering Interface) between the network provider and the equipment provider. This interface is applied to the B-ICI(Broadband ISDN Inter-Carrier Interface) environment.

University libraries have been facing challenges to accomplish both roles of traditional libraries as physical places and virtual libraries which service electronic resources effectively. University libraries need to establish a strategic plan as a positive tool for designing the future of university libraries addressing threats and opportunities at the same time. This study suggested the core elements be involved in strategic plans of university libraries through comparatively analyzing the actual documents of strategic plans of academic libraries in America, England, Canada and Australia. These strategic plans were divided into formal elements and content elements. In addition, this study presented the latest strategic plans of academic libraries such as UMI. OULS, UBCL, and USL. As a result of research, this study provided the directions and basic materials in order to establish strategic planning at university libraries in Korea.
Phytochemical study on the rhizomes of Curcuma aeruginosa has yielded three sesquiterpenes, which were identified as zedoarol (1), curcumenol (2) and isocurcumenol (3). The structures of the compounds were determined by Infrared Spectroscopy (IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1D and 2D NMR) and Mass Spectroscopy (MS). The crude extracts and pure compounds obtained were tested against pathogenic microbes and cancer cell lines
