  • Recently, the field of university PR(public relations) and UI(university identity) come to be emphasized as a remarkable one because the applicants to the universities are consistently reduced in Korea. The purpose of this thesis is to present a souvenir for university PR which is designed in a clothing commodity, easily accessible to visitors, helping students and university officials to keep a pride to our university. We have designed four kinds of clothing, ie T-shirts, polo-shirts, trousers, and hats, after scrutinizing those of other universities. By making change the length of sleeves and slacks, the four kinds were transformed into eight kinds of clothing commodities. The basic trend of this design is on the trompe l'oeil, with the colors being white, grey and black ones, which are of 100% cotton.

  • In 2009, two national universities were integrated into one and the following was newly named Gangneung- Wonju National University. Therefore, this university requires consolidation and promotion of UI(University Identity) as a college brand in order to secure and enhance its competitiveness. The purpose of this study was to design and develop campus-wear, ultimately, it can be used as a part of the Gangeung-Wonju University's UIP policy. A qualitative approach of searching==incorporating books, dissertations, and web-based information==was taken to investigate theoretical backgrounds. The campus-wears were collected from the selected universities in Korea and abroad for the distinct design development. The result of the research are as follows. The concept for the design planning was "wit, exciting & challenge for campus life". The developed UI had focused on expressing positive images of the University. Six items were chosen for the campus-wear design. The goal was to demonstrate practicality and fashion trend. The color arrangement primarily focused on the University's official color and pursued a bright, breeze look. The detailed techniques used for the actual production were printing, embroidery, and accessories. The UI products may not only instill the members of the university with the spirit and pride by strengthening the sense of belonging, but also create a synergistic effect in education by boosting the university promotion and by newly establishing standing as the integrated university.

  • From the early period of web design, there has discussed the need for style guide. But, it has not known specifically 'what it is' and 'how it should be applied'in the actual situation. Most web sites seem to be considered as 'would-be-same or similar'in those impressions. In case of domestic companies or corporations, the development of web style guide has been established, in addition to the trials to adopt Cl(corperate identity) into the web sites. In the universities, with the advent of the era of unlimited competitions among the universities, the need and the importance of web sites has been increasingly emphasized because most internet users, teenagers and twenties, have great interests in the universities and they actually constitute the university societies. But, in reality, the effort to adopt Ul(university identity) into the web sites has left so much to be desired. As one methodology, reflecting the characteristics of the university web sites and the financial reasons, it is assorted that the development of 'web style guide'is urgent. This report explains web style guide and its importance, in addition to the suggestion for the development of web style guide for the domestic university.

  • 다양한 디지털 가전제품을 제조하는 회사들은 초기에 제품 하나하나에 제품의 사용경험을 담는데 비중을 높여 개발을 하였다. 하지만 제품이 알려지고 종류가 많아지면서 각 제품들을 아우르는 사용자 경험요소 통합화가 필요하게 되었다. 이에 다양한 화면 사이즈와 Input Device를 가진 Handheld Device들 간의 일관된 사용 경험(user experiences)을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 하는 연구가 진행되었다. 대상이 된 제품들은 Digital Media Broadcasting의 수신, Multimedia 파일이 재생, 파일 creation 등이 가능한 Handheld Devices였고, 각 제품들은 특정 기능에 충실한 UI를 구현하고 있다는 특징이 있다. 따라서, 기존 제품의 사용성을 저해하지 않는 수준의 표준화가 필요하며 기존 UI 사용성과 표준화 UI 사용성 간의 조화가 중요 하였다. 기존 제품의 개별 특징을 분석하고 Handheld Device의 사용자 요구사항을 조사를 통해 사용경험 요소를 발굴하고 Navigation, Menu Hierarchy, Screen Layout 등의 설계를 통해 Prototype 개발을 하고 Usability Test를 통해 보완을 하였다. Usability Test는 한국, 미국, 영국, 중국 4개국에서 광범위한 사용자 조사가 이루어졌다. 국가 선정은 제품의 주요 시장 및 각 대륙을 대표하는 기준으로 선정되었다. 사용자 그룹은 연령, 지식 수준, 성별에 구분되었고 Web Survey 1000명, Usability Test는 각 국가별 총 100명이 넘는 참석자에 의한 데이터 분석이 이루어 졌다. 이렇게 조사된 데이터를 바탕으로 UI 사용경험 요소를 정의하고 제품의 공통 가이드와 개별 가이드를 개발하는 일련의 프로세스를 확립하고 검증하였다. 본 논문을 통해 대상 제품들의 다양한 특성을 살리면서도 user Interface의 일관성 원칙을 설립하기 위해 시도했던 방법과 과정을 기술하고, 이 과정을 통해서 얻은 결과와 실제적인 경험을 소개한다.

  • In recent rears. web portal system has received much attention as a user interface for the grid environment. Grid system uses symmetric key for authenticating user identity while the traditional portal system does a password-based authentication. Regarding this, many researches are progressing to integrate portal accounts with symmetric key. Specially. researches such as GAMA and PURSE are active and those focus on easy usability for users who familiar with password-based authentication. However the protection of data and resources is a critical issue in Grid environment, because those are shared through a wide-area network. In this paper, we suggest a new authentication mechanism which unify authentication mechanisms between portal system and grid service by using symmetric key. It will improve a security level in UI layer as much as in grid service.

  • A study on how a launcher as smart phone application was utilized as brand communication by deriving a characteristic element that could be changed into an extended function which carried out brand communication function going beyond the basic function of launcher pre-installed for the purpose of UI differentiation according to each device brand. In the results of analyzing the items and features of brand communication shown in each detailed item after classifying properties of launcher components into that of home component and personalization function element, (1) brand image identity element and (2) service marketing commitment element was derived.

  • Hyochang Park was the royal tomb of the Joseon Dynasty, where were the tombs of Prince Munhyo and his birth mother Ui-bin Seong, king Soonjo's concubine Sook-Ui Park and Youngon princess by a concubine. It was upgraded from Hyochang tomb to Hyochangwon at King Gojong. The Japanese imperialism destroyed Hyochangwon and made it into a park, also moved to Seosamneung in 1944. After returning from Chongqing after liberation, Kimgu made the independence movement tomb in the empty space of Hyochang Park. There were 3 martyr's tomb, provisional government figure tomb. Kimgu himself was buried in Hyochang Park after his death in 1949. During the regime of Rhee Seung-man and Park Jeong-hee, there was a constant attempt to change the identity of Hyochang Park, where independence activists were buried. Hyochang Stadium, Wonhyo buddhist priest's Statue and North Korean Anti-Communist Tower were established. After democratization in 1987, the independence activist tomb of Hyochang Park began to gain meaning again. The 6th Republic succeeded the provisional government in the Constitution, also the national cemetery and independent park of Hyochang Park were attempted but the social consensus could not be achieved. This study focuses on the historical middle layer and symbolism of Hyochang Park and aims to contribute to social consensus on the identity of Hyochang Park by making a storytelling on the theme of 'Independence Road'.

  • 'Heongbu and Nolbu 1' is a series of the on-line game 'Tales Runner.' It is based on a traditional Korean fairy tale. However, the game characters in Heongbu and Nolbu 1 wear casual clothes even though the game is set in the Joseon Dynasty. Therefore, this paper presents proposed game characters clothes based on traditional Korean costumes from the Joseon Dynasty. This work should help inspire gamers and game designers with the beauty of Korean traditional costumes and familiarize them with an aspect of Korean people's identity. A literature review of online games and game characters was carried out, and game characters' clothes were analyzed. The design motifs of historical relics of the Joseon era were evaluated. Three styles, one traditional and two "fusion" styles integrating traditional and modern elements were proposed for each of the 4 characters: Chowon, Ruff, Bada and Abell. The chulrik and jurip were used as design motifs for Chowon. A traditional chulrik, short chulriks and pants are suggested. Second, the dongari and jeonrip were used as design motifs for Ruff. A traditional dongdari, sapok pants, deck pants and a vest are suggested. Third, the jeogori and chima were used as design motifs for Bada. A traditional female hanbok, arm warmers, short-sleeved jeogori and dress are suggested. Fourth, the dang-ui and daeran-chima were used as design motifs for Abell. A traditional dang-ui and daeran-chima, blouse, skirt, jumper and tight Bermuda shorts are suggested. The length, shape and color were converted into new styles, but some traditional elements such as the git and goreum were retained.

Identity of thermogenic reaction to Korean ginseng through bibliography - Focusing on oriental medicine interpretation (서지학적 고증을 통한 인삼 승열작용의 정체성 - 한의학적 해석을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the characteristics of and solution to thermogenic reactions to Korean ginseng through bibliographic research. A review of bibliography on the thermogenic reaction induced by ginseng indicated that people who lack fluids, have fever in lungs, a stuffy chest, coughing up sputum, a strong pulse, and constipation due to fever in the stomach may exhibit such a reaction. In the herbal medicine book of the Qing Dynasty, Bon-Cho-Jeong-Ui (本草正義) recorded that wild simulated ginseng is slightly cold and replenishes the body's liquid reserves. The book also describes the field cultivated ginseng is slightly warm and enhancing stamina. Bon-Kyung-Bong-Won (本經逢源), Bon-Cho-Pyon-Dok (本草便讀), and Bon-Cho-Jeong-Ui were published authors in the Qing Dynasty, and they explained that ginseng fine root is bitter, supplements bodily fluids, and can be easily ingested because it is cold. Wol-Ji-In-Sam-Jeon (月池人蔘傳) and Bon-Cho-Bi-Yo (本草備要) described fresh ginseng assweet, bitter, and slightly cold in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, respectively. On the basis of this bibliographic description, the thermogenic reaction induced by Korean ginseng can be overcome by using ginseng fine root, fresh ginseng, or wild simulated ginseng. These ginseng radices are slightly cool, replenish human bodily fluids, and show the physiological effects of easy ingestion properties.

A Research for Tradition and Identity of Saam Acupuncture Method (사암침법의 전통과 독자성에 관한 연구)

  • Objectives : Ever Since it was made in the middle of 17th century by Saamdoin, Saam acupuncture method has been handed down to acupuncturists as a written form, playing a huge role in using for treating diseases of people in Korea. Saam acupuncture method development of any process, and have been propagated in a foreign country to study. Methods : Analysis of ancient medical books, we studied the evolution of Saam acupuncture method. And we looked abroad Saam acupuncture method have been propagated abroad by examining how. Results : At the end of Joseon Dynasty, lots of clinical cases were added to Saam acupuncture method and as a result, it helped acupuncturists understand how it really worked. During the Japanese colonial era, it was introduced to more people thanks to the development of a printing technique. After Korea's liberation from Japan, many scholars have studied Saam's acupuncture method, and they also have applied it to clinical cases in various ways. Conclusions : With its superiority and creativeness, Saam acupuncture method spread to Japanese acupuncturists in the name of Meridian Therapy during the Japanese colonial era. It had a great impact on medicine in China and many other countries, as well.
