In order to implemented antenna for RFID tag which the size is same as conventional name card, the structure of the antenna is meander type, matching method for improvement characteristics of the antenna use T matching method, ground plane is inserted at the antenna substrate fer mounting RFID chips. The substrate size of implementation is $100\times60\;mm^2$ and the FR4 substrate is used. Results of the experiment, the center frequency of the implemented antenna is 427 MHz, -10 dB return loss bandwidth is 8 MHz, maximum return loss is 21 dB, the radiation pattern is omnidirectional. From these results, we are conformed application for UHF RFID tag antenna.

  • This paper presents a tag emulator for a UHF band RFID system. The tag emulator supports the 1800-6C and EPC global class 1 generation 2 standards. The transmitted signal from a reader is generated using the PIE coding and ASK modulation methods. Signals of a tag are from the FM0 coding and ASK modulation methods. The ARM7 processor carries out the overall control of the system and signal analysis of incoming data. The verification of the tag emulator employs the application platform implemented in C++. Users can define parameter values for protocol during the application run. The tag emulator presented in this paper allows evaluating various design alternatives of the target RFID system in real applications.

  • In this paper, we examined the operating principle of a passive tag antenna for RFID system in UHF band. Based on the study, we proposed a novel RFID tag antenna which adopts the inductively coupled feeding structure to match antenna impedance to a capacitively loaded commercial tag chip. The proposed tag antenna consists of microstrip lines on a thin PET substrate for low-cost fabrication. The detail structure of the tag antenna were optimized using a full electromagnetic wave simulator of IE3D in conjunction with a Pareto genetic algorithm and the size of the tag antenna can be reduced up to kr=0.27($2 cm^2$). We built some sample antennas and measured the antenna characteristics such as a return loss, an efficiency, and radiation patterns. The readable range of the tag antenna with a commercial RFID system showed about 1 to 3 m.

  • A regulated low phase noise differential colpitts VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) for mobile RFID system is presented. The differential colpitts VCO meets the dense reader environment specifications. The VCO use a $0.35{\mu}m$ technology and achieves tuning range $1.55{sim}2.053 GHz$. Measuring 910 MHz frequency divider output, phase noise performance is -106 dBcMz and -135dBc/Hz at 40 kHz and 1MHz offset, respectively. 5-bit digital coarse-tuning and accumulation type MOS varactors allow for 28.2% tuning range, which is required to cover the LO frequency range of a UHF Mobile RFID system, Optimum design techniques ensure low VCO gain(<45 MHz/V) for good interoperability with the frequency synthesizer. To the author' knowledge, this differential colpitts VCO achieves a figure of merit(FOM) of 1.93dB at 2-GHz band.

  • In this paper, the system level EMC radiated emission test results of KoDSat(Korea Demonstration Satellite), its affects upon the Launch vehicle and H/W improving methods regarding its over exceed value of EMC specification are discussed. Regarding its over exceed value, we estimated that DAU of KoDSat generated the exceeded EMC noise source, and these test results were analyzed using the EMC2000 tool to find out how did it affect the FTS(Flight Termination Subsystem) of KSLV-1(Korea Small Launch Vehicle). To diminish the EMC noise source of UHF(430.1Mhz) band level, we redesigned the DAU power board to be applied the various schemes for EMI noise reduction such as grounding, shielding and EMI filtering, and also verified these reworks to analyze its diminishing affects in UHF band level by means of performing the DAU box level EMC test and performing the second KoDSat's system level EMC test.

  • In this paper, we proposed a high sensitivity sensor that can detect the concentration change of Nacl aqueous solutions by using a slot coupling capacitor resonator in sub-microwave band. The resonator applied to the sensor consists of a parallel plate capacitor connected to an inductive slot utilizing the ground plane of the microstrip line. Based on the measurement data of the dielectric characteristics according to the concentration change, the resonance frequency was determined in the UHF band where the concentration change is evident and the Nacl aqueous solution is inserted into the capacitor. Based on the simulation, the proposed resonator was designed and fabricated. The concentration level was varied from 0 to 400 mg/dl as 100 mg/dl step, and the transmission scattering coefficient ($S_{21}$) was successfully measured. Experimental results show that it is applicable to the concentration detection sensor in Nacl aqueous solution by obtaining minimum 1.8 dB($S_{21}$) at each step.

  • This research illustrates how the simulation environment for operating the simultaneous man/unmanned aerial vehicle teaming is constructed. X-Plane program, HILS for the ducted fan aircraft (unmanned) and CTLS (manned aircraft) with communication devices are interfaced to simulate the basic co-operational flight. The X-plane and HILS can allow operators to experience the maned and unmanned aircraft operation in the airspace on the ground in turn they can perform various simulated missions in advance before the actual flight. For the test purpose, the data link between man/unmanned aircraft and ground control station is examined using C Band and UHF radio channels by the manned aircraft.

  • This paper presents the miniaturization of circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna for UHF-band RFID portable reader. The proposed antenna has a group of four I-slots on a conventional corner-truncated square microstrip patch and it is shown that the antenna size is reduced compared to the antenna without I-slots. A 76 mm by 76 mm small antenna with four I-slots is fabricated with 6.4 mm thick FR4 substrate and its 10 dB return loss bandwidth, the gain and the axial ratio are measured to be $938{\sim}975\;MHz$, $-0.88{\sim}-2\;dBi$, and $3.27{\sim}13.21\;dB$ within the 10 dB return loss bandwidth, respectively.

  • In this paper, we propose an application model of RFID that needs not be worried about battery degradation problems and offers convenience of hand-carry. We design the RFID application model which can track medium distance target RFID Tag and detect the signal difference between multi-detectors in a room area using 900MHz frequency band. In the case of multi-ID Tag in one detector, we approach TDMA scheme.

  • In this paper, a portable RFID reader which operated in 900MHz UHF band is designed and fabricated and the characteristics of the manufactured portable RFID reader is analyzed through measurement. Analysis of measurements results is achieved based on EPC Class 0 standards that proposed by EPC Global. The proposed RFID reader communicate with tags about 11kbps speed, and have 20 dBm for its maximum RF output power. The proposed portable RFID reader can recognize maximum 68 tags per second, and when reader's output power is 20 dBms, maximum recognition distance is 30cm. And the total size of implemented RFID reader is $71mm{\times}55mm$, that is the maximum 90%, minimum 14% reduced size compared with marketed product.
