HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE IMAGING OF GLOBULAR CLUSTERS IN TWO FACE-ON LOW SURFACE BRIGHTNESS GALAXIES UGC 5981 AND UGC 6614

  • We present a study searching for globular cluster systems (GCSs) of two face-on low surface bright- ness galaxies (LSBGs), UGC 5981 and UGC 6614. Based on HSTWFPC2 images of F555Wand F814W filters, we detect 12 and 18 GC candidates for UGC 5981 and UGC 6614, respectively. Although these two LSBGs have very different bulge properties, they have very similar specific frequencies ($S_N$) of 0.1. However, $S_N$ ~ 0.1 is quite small even for their late morphological types, albeit within errors. This suggests that LSBGs have had star formation histories lacking dominant initial starburst events while accumulating their stellar masses through sporadic star formation activities.

  • In conventional automatic container-terminal, the gantry cranes are operated manually or semi-automatically. But UGC is an unmanned-operated gantry crane and the positioning information for UGC is supplied only by position-measuring devices. In order to enhance the operation efficiency of UGC, it is required that the position-measuring devices have long maintenance period and are not sensitive to the weather and environment condition. And in order to be used practically in container terminal, the cost of position-measuring devices is not higher than currently used measuring devices. In the study, it is discussed the requirements for position-measuring devices in UGC, And it is studied on the measuring devices suitable to UGC. From this study, it is expected that the combination of a rotary encoder and a ferrous metal detector is useful for position-measuring devices in UGC.

  • These days, information technology is rapidly changing our society. Thus, considering such a business environment, many companies are seeking revenue models for successful business. In particular, digital content with the convergence of culture and information technology create revenue for businesses. For this reason, many companies are interested in UGC (User Generated Content), which refers to various kinds of publicly accessible media content that are produced by end-users. Thus, this paper analyzed the attributes of UGC and businesses using ubiquitous technology. From this analysis, this paper shows the critical success factors for UGC in ubiquitous business environments. In addition, this paper analyzed the attributes of UGC through the research of literature reviews and expert reviews. Based on this research, many companies are encouraged to develop successful digital content generated by end-users.

A Study on the integration of UGC in broadcast journalism: An evidence from Bangladesh (방송 저널리즘의 UGC 이용에 관한 연구: 방글라데시의 사례를 중심으로)

  • Digital convergence put a huge challenges for broadcast media in terms of integrating user generated content (UGC). Keeping this in mind, objective of the study is to explore the factors that affecting UGC's integration in Broadcast channel from developing countries' perspective. We explored how and why UGC are appearing in Bangladeshi Television news. In-depth interview was used and news editorial level staffs were selected from leading Bangladeshi television channels. Findings suggest that, state interventions in crisis events and lack of experiences to handle crisis reporting played a crucial role to incorporate UGC in television news bulletins. One of the significant findings is that, mere traditional guidelines and work policy of the media houses will not be enough to handle user generated content as well as citizen's participation in news media. Thus, we recommend to formulate a comprehensive user generated content integration policy in the context of Bangladesh.

  • User Generated Content(이하 UGC)는 웹사이트 이용자에 의해 생산된 콘텐츠를 일컫는 말로, 미디어 조직에 속하지 않은 일반인들의 비직업적 활동의 산물로서 웹 공간에 공표한 콘텐츠를 의미한다. 본 연구는 UGC가 활성화되기 위해서 풀어야 할 과제를 도출하고, 도출된 요인을 바탕으로 개선된 형태의 UGC 웹 서비스 품질(Web Service Quality)의 최적화된 모형을 제시하고자 한다. UGC 웹서비스 품질은 정보성, 디자인, 통신환경, 커뮤니티, 실재감, 보안성 등의 6가지 요인으로 나누어 고객 만족도와 고객 충성도에 미치는 영향을 조사하였고, 고객 만족도와 고객 충성도 간에 매개 변수로서 관여도를 두어 고객 만족도와 고객 충성도간의 영향 요인을 온라인상 UGC 사용 및 이용 경험이 있는 사용자 총 355명을 대상으로 설문조사를 통해 연구하였다. 연구 결과, UGC 웹서비스 품질 요인으로 정보성, 디자인, 통신환경, 커뮤니티, 실재감, 보안성은 모두 고객 만족도에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 고객 만족도는 고객 충성도에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있었으며, 고객 만족도 또한 관여도에 영향을 미친다. 매개 변수로서 관여도는 고객 충성도에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how startup companies with the UGC platform service model can traverse the death valley for the company's survival with limited resources and create a mutually beneficial market. To do this, an interview-based exploratory study was conducted to analyze the cause and effect of each factor on the initial activation strategy of the UGC platform. For many start-up companies, this research helps minimize errors in strategic trial and error.

A Study on the Effects of UGC Platform Users' Experience Value, Social Capital, and Cultural Capital on Customer Participation and Relationship Commitment: Focusing on the Moderating Effect of the Need for Self-Expression (UGC플랫폼 사용자의 경험가치, 사회적자본, 문화적자본이 고객참여와 관계몰입에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구: 자기표현욕구의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • Purpose - This study aims to investigate the factors (experience value, social capital, cultural capital) affecting users' engagement in UGC platform, and to examine their effect on relationship commitment. The study further attempted to confirm the moderating effect of the need for self-expression. Design/methodology/approach - Data was collected from 230 UGC users through a survey, and the study performed a structural equation model analysis to validate the conceptual model which contains five research hypotheses. Findings - The study found that only service value, one of experiential values, has a significant positive (+) effect on customer engagement and that social capital and cultural capital also have a significant positive (+) effect on customer engagement In addition, customer engagement in the UGC platform was found to have a significant positive (+) effect on the relationship commitment. However, the need for self-expression did not moderate the relationship between customer engagement and relationship commitment. Research implications or Originality - Marketing strategies that can strengthen UGC users' engagement factors can lead up to follow-up research, which finds ways to improve not only users' engagement but also sustained relationship with the UGC platforms.

  • 공간 정보 기술과 컴퓨팅 기술의 발전에 따라 사용자에게 제공되는 공간 정보 컨텐츠는 날로 다양해지고 있다. 본 논문은 u-GIS의 웹2.0 및 유비퀴토스 환경을 기반으로 하는 다양한 정보를 다양한 단말 플랫폼에서 개인 맞춤형 정보를 표출 및 활용할 수 있는 컨텐츠를 지원하기 위한 마크업 언어인 ugcML의 컨텐츠 모델과 스키마를 설계하고 있다. 제안된 ugcML 컨텐츠 모델은 KML과 유사한 다양한 지리 정보, 위치 정보, 사진 정보등의 각각의 정보를 융합하여 표현할 수 있는 장점을 갖는다.

Witty or wicked? The predictors and impact of agreement with user-generated political satires

  • User-generated content (UGC) satirizing the presidential candidates was widespread during the 2016 election in Taiwan. Using an experimental design, this study explored the predictors of viewer agreement to satirical UGC, and its influence on viewer attitudes towards candidates after watching the satirical videos from YouTube. Results showed that participants' agreement with the satirical UGC was predicted by their political cynicism and political information efficacy, but not by candidate favorability. Watching the UGC satirizing the presidential candidates effected the favorability toward the male candidates but not the female candidate. In addition, the evidence suggested that the frequency of exposure to satirical UGC is related to political information efficacy, but not with political cynicism or candidate favorability.
