This study was conducted to examine the effects of depression, sleep and self-esteem on quality of life of elders living at home. A descriptive survey study was conducted based on a survey of 285 older people in person at five senior welfare centers in J city from May 20, 2016 to 9. The data were analyzed by at-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression using SPSS WIN 21.0. The mean scores were depression $7.27{\pm}3.80$, sleep $30.75{\pm}9.35$, self-esteem $36.40{\pm}5.30$ and quality of life $8.05{\pm}2.53$. Depression(r=0.491, p<0.001) and sleep(r=0.590 p<0.001) were positively correlated with quality of life and negatively correlated with self-esteem (r=-0.234, p<0.001). The results of the regression indicated that depression, sleep, and self-esteem explained 39.9% of the variance in quality of life. Overall, these results suggest that depression, sleep and self-esteem were associated with quality of life. Therefore it is necessary to develop strategies to reduce depression and sleep disorders for community dwelling elders to improve quality of life.

The purpose of this study was to examine the variables of success in the national dental hygienist licence examination at D college. The subjects in this study were 120 dental hygiene juniors at D college located in Gangwon Province. The collected data were analyzed by the statistical package SPSS WIN 13.0 and a R2.13.2 program, and $x^2$(Chi-square) test, regression analysis, multiple linear regression analysis and logistic regression analysis were utilized. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. There was a tendency that the pass rate was higher among the students who were more satisfied with their major, whose academic standing was higher and who scored higher in trial examinations. 2. There was a positive correlation between academic standing and trial exam scores. 3. When their academic standing and satisfaction level with major were the same, an increase of one point in trial exams led to a 1.141-fold rise in the probability of passing the national exam. In this study, trial exam scores were identified as the variable to exert the largest influence on success in the national dental hygienist qualification exam. Therefore more intensive guidance should be provided for students who make a preparation for the national exam yet score low in trial exams.

This study was a descriptive correlational study investigating the mediating effects of resilience in the relationship between depression and rehabilitation motivation in middle-aged stroke patients. There was a total of 185 middle-aged patients aged 40 to 64 years, who were diagnosed with stroke at a university hospital and rehabilitated at three local hospitals located in S city and four hospitals in U city. The data were collected using a self-reported questionnaire between the 1st and 31st of December in 2016. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and step-wise causal method using SPSS/WIN 22.0 statistical program. To test the statistical significance of the mediation effect, PROCESS and bootstrapping were used. The mean age of the subjects were $56.26{\pm}6.37$ years. There were 70.3% male subjects, an average depression level was $21.21{\pm}7.09$, an average resilience was $25.52{\pm}9.63$, and rehabilitation motivation was $47.44{\pm}5.87$. Depression was negatively related to resilience and rehabilitation motivation. However, resilience and rehabilitation motivation have a static correlation. These results confirmed that resilience appears to be a complete mediating effect in the relationship between depression and rehabilitation motivation. Therefore, it is important to develop a resilience enhancement program to improve the motivation of rehabilitation for stroke patients.
This study was attempted to investigate the mediating effect of the tolerance of dating violence in the influence of female college students' perception of dating violence on their sexual self-assertion. The subjects of this study were 161 female students enrolled in universities in the Chungbuk region. As research instrument, Jeong(2013)'s perception of dating violence, Jeong(2016)'s sexual self-assertiveness, and Nam(2003)'s dating violence acceptability were used. For data analysis, frequency, percentage, correlation analysis, hierarchical regression analysis, and Sobel test were performed using SPSS WIN 21.0 program. As a result of the study, first, there was a significant positive correlation between perception of dating violence and violence tolerance(r=.43, p<.001), and a significant negative correlation between violence tolerance and sexual assertiveness(r=-.20, p<.05). Second, the perception of dating violence had a significant positive effect on sexual assertiveness(𝛽=.43, p<.001), and the explanatory power was 19%(F=36.10, p<.001). Third, it was found that the decrease in the effect of female college students' perception of dating violence on sexual assertiveness was significant(Z=2.05, p<.05), violence acceptability showed a mediating effect on the effect of dating violence perception on sexual assertiveness. Based on this study, it is suggested to develop a dating violence prevention program that can lower female college students' acceptability for violence, raise perception of violence, and strengthen sexual assertiveness.
