  • The purpose of this paper is to study a framework on building and continuing consumer trust in mobile travel and tourism content (M-TTC). Trust development life cycle in e-commerce is a trust-oriented building flow of online consumer. Travel information and content in mobile commerce is a initiative and immature step in the ubiquitous era. Travel and tourism industry is information intensive and network business between the bricks and clicks, the public and private, and the virtual and physical. A framework of travel and tourism content in m-commerce based on Siau and Shen (2003) and in perspective of information cities by Ferguson, et al. (2004) proposes conceptual components to build information and content for continuous consumer trust. The main results of the paper by focus group research methodology focus on building a conceptual m-trust model of mobile content in travel and tourism industry. Additionally, it shows what the important factor is and how the trustworthy improves continuously to the public, mobile vendors, and technological aspects.

Who Uses Travel Websites? A Comparison of Demand Across Websites

  • Understanding demand for travel websites can help hoteliers better evaluate their own multi-channel distribution and reputation management strategies. In this study, we estimated demand for eight major travel websites based on the user percentage in 3,120 U.S. counties. Results highlighted the importance of four types of factors: sociodemographic, economic, Internet use-related, and travel-related. Differences between websites were also compared based on estimated coefficients. For example, the demand for Expedia.com appeared to be driven by age, education background, income, and foreign travel history, whereas the demand for Hotels.com was driven by the proportion of the African American population and domestic travel history. Lastly, implications are provided.

조선시대 사대부들의 지리산 여행 연구 (A Study on the Literati's Travels to Mt. Jiri in the Joseon Dynasty)

  • 이 연구는 조선시대에 저술된 유산기를 기초자료로, 당시 사람들이 지리산을 무슨 목적을 가지고 어떻게 여행하였는지 살펴보는 데 그 목적이 있다. 선행연구를 통해 고찰한 조선시대 사람들의 금강산 청량산 여행과 비교하여, 지리산을 찾은 여행자의 성격, 여행 동기, 여정, 그리고 여행 방식을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 지리산 여행자들은 거주지, 성격, 취미 등에서 공통적인 특징을 지니고 있었으며, 이것이 반영되어 지리산 여행에는 금강산 청량산 여행과 구분되는 여행 동기와 여정이 나타났다. 여행 방식은 여행 시기, 준비물, 동반자, 교통수단, 식사 및 숙박, 여행 중 활동 등의 측면에서 살펴보았는데, 금강산 청량산 여행과 큰 차이가 없었다. 조선시대 사대부들의 여행 방식 가운데 관행화된 것이 많았다는 증거이다.

첨단교통정보시스템의 최적경로 알고리즘 개발 (Development of Optimal Path Algorithm for Advanced Traveler Information System)

  • The objective of this paper is to develop the optimal path algorithm for dynamic route guidance system in advanced traveler information system (ATIS). The travel time is forecasted in each path between network nodes. Floyd-Warshall algorithm is used to find the optimal route based on this forecasted travel time in dynamic traffic network. This algorithm is modified to apply the real traffic network that has left-turn restriction, U-turn, and P-turn. A big value is assigned to one of arcs in turn restriction and a virtual node is used to consider U-turn and P-turn for Floyd-Warshall algorithm.

구조방정식모형을 이용한 통신이 통행에 미치는 영향 분석 (Analyzing Impacts of Telecommunications on Travel Using Structural Equation Modeling)

  • 본 연구는 총체적 관점에서 통신이 통행에 미치는 영향을 수요, 공급, 비용, 토지이용 등의 인과관계를 고려한 종합적인 체계속에서 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 통행, 통신, 토지이용, 경제활동, 사회인구지표를 고려한 개념적 모형을 개발하였다. 그리고 이 개념적 모형을 토대로 미국의 $1950{\sim}2000$년의 시계열 자료를 이용하여 통신(시내 전화통화 수, 장거리 전화통화 수, 이동전화가입자수)과 통행 (vehicle-miles traveled와 대중교통이용자수)간의 구조방정식 모형을 개발하였다. 연구결과 통신의 이용이 승용차 및 대중교통의 통행을 증가시키는 것으로 분석되었다. 이밖에 교통시설공급 확대와 토지이용(도시교외화)도 통행에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

혼잡상황에서 링크미통과 GPS 프로브데이터를 활용한 링크통행시간 추정기법 개발 (Link Travel Time Estimation Using Uncompleted Link-passing GPS Probe Data in Congested Traffic Condition)

  • 신뢰성 있는 통행시간정보제공과 교통정보센터의 효율적인 운영을 위해 통상 국내에서는 5분 주기로 통행시간자료를 수집하고 있다. 그러나 주기 단위로 수집할 경우 수집주기내에 링크를 통과하지 못하는 데이터는 사용할 수 없으며, 특히 혼잡시 이러한 데이터가 많이 발생하므로 혼잡정보가 늦게 제공되는 문제점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 대기행렬소멸길이와 신호현시 등을 추정하여 링크통행시간 추정하는 기법을 개발하였다 현장실험을 기반으로 MAPE와 MAE를 사용하여 평가한 결과 제안기법의 정확도는 1.98%, 4.75초로 실측치와 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 제안기법은 혼잡할 경우에 GPS기반으로 부족한 데이터의 절대량을 보족해 줄 수 있는 대안으로 기대된다.

관광호텔 해외 마케팅 활동 개선방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Improving the Overseas Marketing Activities of Tourist Hotels -Focused on American Market of "L" Hotel-)

  • It is expected that marketing environment of the hotel industry will change much this year. Hotels should make strategic marketing activities to cope with the rapid change of the environment positively. With the case study of marketing activities for American market of "L" Hotel, a deluxe hotel in Seoul, this study is to present the ways of improving marketing activities of a tourist hotel. U.S.A market has been emerging as the most important market in deluxe hotels with strong value of U.S. dollar currency. To get more Ameriean staying guests. hotels had better make effortis in American market as follow. First, hotels should select corporate market as main target market in U.S.A market. Second, hotels should make preferred corporate rate contracts with corporate travel departments of corporate accounts as their house agents Third, hotels should recognize Global Distribution System as major eservation network in U.S.A Fourth, hotels should advertise effectively in G.D.S in order that agents may reserve the hotel with its visual information. Fifth, hotels had better make the most use of three branch offices of K.N.T.O and sale offices of their affiliated reservation system to get useful information on corporates and travel agents.el agents.

  • Ubiquitous-Transportation sensor network is able to realize a vehicle ad-hoc network. Since there are some problems in an existing ITS system, the new technology and traffic information strategies are requirements in this advanced system, u-TSN. The purposes of this paper is to introduce the components on u-TSN system, establish new traffic strategies for this system, and then evaluate these strategies by making a comparative study of ITS and using micro traffic simulator, AIMSUN. The strategy evaluated by AIMSUN is position-based multicast strategy which provides traffic information to vehicles using V2I (vehicle to Infrastructure) communication. This paper focuses on the providing real-time route guidance information when congestion is occurred by the incidents. This study estimates total travel time on each route by API modules. Result from simulation experiments suggests that position-based multicast strategy can achieve more optimal network performance and increased driver satisfaction since the total accumulated travel times of both the major road and the total system on position-based multicast strategy are less than those on VMS.

Exploring the Movements of Chinese Free Independent Travelers in the U.S.: A Social Network Analysis Approach

  • In a new age of smart tourism, free independent travelers (FITs) choose their travel routes in a more diversified and less predictable way with the aid of smart services. This paper focuses on the movements of Chinese outbound FITs in the U.S. in the year of 2018. 110 places to visit (destinations) extracted from 122 travel routes recommendations on Qyer.com, a major online travel community in China, are analyzed with social network analysis (SNA). Based on the results of SNA, employing degree centrality, eigenvector centrality, betweenness centrality, network visualization, and cluster diagram methods, some preferred cities and natural attractions outside city centers (i.e., New York City (NYC), Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and Niagara Falls) are identified. Moreover, it is found that NYC in the East and Los Angeles in the West play a major role in the movements of Chinese FITs. This study contributes to the body of knowledge on tourist destination movements and provides valuable implications for smart service development in the tourism and hospitality industry.
