An integral based fuzzy approach to evaluate waste materials for concrete

  • Waste materials in concrete have been considered as one of the most important issues by the authorities, policy makers and researchers to maintain engineering serviceability in terms of economy, durability and sustainability. Therefore, evaluation and selection of waste materials with respect to multi criteria decision making (MCDM) for the construction industry has been gained importance for recovery and reuse. In this paper, Choquet integral based fuzzy approach is proposed for evaluating the most suitable waste materials with respect to compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength, compactness, toughness (resistivity for dynamic loads), water absorption and accessibility. On conclusion, waste tyre and silica fume were determined as the most suitable waste materials for concrete production. The obtained results are recommended to assist the authorities on configuring well designed strategies for construction industry with disposal materials.

  • In this study, the charactersistics of horizontal drains used to stabilize the dredged fill are investigated experimentally by doing tensile strength test, discharge capacity test, and filter clogging test. The types of the drains selected for the study are filament type (Tyre-E), embossed type(Type-P) and heat bonded cubic type with the thickness 10mm(Type-010) and 5mm(Type-05). The results of tensile strength and discharge capacity test show that the performance of drain Type-O10 was better than the other drains. This is caused by the fact that the lattice shape core of drain Type-O10 has strong rigidity and minimizes the loss of the sectional area of discharge with increased confining pressure. Analyzing the compatibility of filters by the results of the strength characteristics test and clogging test, the filter of filament type drain produced with polyester clothed polyamide performed well.

  • Recently, ozone is utilized in various fields and its needs are expanding. In this paper, glass and ceramic plate tyre ozonizer have been fabricated to investigate discharge parameter(input power, flow rate of supplied gas, electrode form, etc.) effect to discharge. And the conditions of discharge parameter have been investigated for optimum ozone generation. Ozone concentration is continuously increased with increasing input power for same discharge space, and ozone yield is also increased until maximum point after that it is saturated. Ozone concentration is inversely proportional to flow rate of supplied gas but ozone generation and ozone vield characteristics are improved.

  • This paper deals with an estimation method far sideslip angle by using an unknown input observation technique in 4WS passenger car systems. Firstly, a 4WS vehicle model with 3DOP is derived under the constant velocity and same tyre's properties. The induced model is transformed into the linear state space model with considering the external disturbance. Secondly, an unknown input observer is introduced and its property which estimating the states of system without any disturbance information is shown. Lastly, the estimated sideslip angle of the 4WS system is verified through numerical simulation.

  • For the cultivation of big agricultral areas high performance machinery is needed. The need to increase working productivity also leads to powerful machinery. The total weight of new tractor generations increases and with it their axle and wheel weight reaches a soil damaging extend. Besides carrying the mass of the tractors and harvesting-machines the chassis must transmit driving force onto the ground(Tab. 1). To decrease soil damaging compaction a number of technical solutions have been developed. Broad tyres are being used to minimize the contact-area pressure by using low tyre air pressure. For enlarging the contact area there are two-possibilities : to build a brought or a long contact area. done for instance in caterpillar tracks.

  • This paper presents the sliding mode control methods for anti-lock brake system (ABS) with the friction force observer. Using a simplified quarter car model, the sliding mode controller for ABS is designed to track the desired wheel slip ratio. Here, new method to find the desired wheel slip ratio which produces the maximum friction force between road and tire is suggested. The desired wheel slip ratio is varying according road and tire conditions to produce maximum friction force. In order to find optimum desired wheel slip ratio, the sliding mode observer for friction force is used. The proposed sliding mode controller with observer is evaluated in simulation, and the control design is shown to have high performance on roads with constant and varying adhesion coefficients.

  • Si nanocrstallites on p-tyre (100) Si substrate have been fabricated by pulsed laser deposition technique using a Nd:YAG laser with the wavelength of 355, 532 and 1064 nm. The base vacuum in the chamber was down to $10^{-5}$ Torr and the pressure of the gas during deposition was varied from 1 to 3 Torr. After deposition, Si nanocrystallites have been annealed at $N_2$ gas. Nitrogen have been used as ambient gases. Strong blue and green luminescence from Si nanocrystallites has been observed in room temperature by photoluminescence and its peak energies shift to green when the wavelength is increased from 355-1064 nm

  • Disk type Single Phase SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) can be used axial direction magnetic flux and radial direction magnetic flux. In this paper, the flux linkage was measured according as rotor positions of disk-tyre single phase SRM, which is designed and manufactured in previous research. From the measured data, we got the magnetization curves, inductance profile and Co-energy.

  • 링형 네트워크는 자연재해나 사고로 인한 시스템 절체 복구 기능을 수행 할 수 있어서 기간 망에서 오랫동안 사용되어왔다. 최근 WDM을 이용한 링형 네크워크에 대한 관심이 고조되면서, 특히 1심을 이용한 self-healing 또는 restoration 등에 관한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 절체 복구 기능을 수행할 수 있는 소자들이 너무 고가이고, 시스템이 복잡해지는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 저가의 광 Add/Drop Mux, 리던던시(Redundancy)미디어 컨버터 칩과 이중 광모듈 을 사용한 복구 기능을 가지는 단심 양방향 링형 WDM-EPON 시스템을 구현하였다.   • Vehicle dynamics control (VDC) system requires more information on driving conditions compared with ABS and/or TCS. In order to develop the VDC system, tire slip angles, vehicle side-slip angle, and vehicle lateral velocity as well as road friction coefficient are needed. Since there are not any cheap and reliable sensors, recent researches on parameter estimation have given rise to a number of parameter estimation techniques. This paper presents new vehicle model to estimate vehicle's yaw rate. This model is improved from the conventional 2 degrees of freedom vehicle model, so-called bicycle model, taking nonlinear effects into account. These nonlinear effects are: (i) tyre nonlinearity; (ii) lateral load transfer during cornering; (iii) variable gear ratio with respect to vehicle velocity. Estimation results are validated with the experimental results.
