  • Despite the impressive economic growth over the past several decades, Korea's distribution sector has remained quite underdeveloped. Until recently, management of the marketing channels also has been staying at an unsophisticated level. The Korean marketing channel system is largely characterized by 1) undifferentiated channel types among the competing manufacturers, 2) dominance by the manufacturers over the other channel members, 3) high level of conflicts among the channel members, 4) inefficient marketing information system, and 5) lack of managers properly trained in channel operation and management. Currently, major change factors emerged and has begun to directly affect the Korean marketing channel system. The most salient changes surrounding the Korean marketing channel system are 1) complete opening of the marketing channels for the foreigners, 2) emergence and spread of new types of channels 3) adoption of advanced information technology by the various channel members, 4) increase in flexibility in production and supply systems, 5) shift of power toward the retailers away from the manufacturers, 6) growing trend for cooperation and alliance among the traditional marketing institutions. To these changes the manufacturers have been reacting, rather than proacting, mostly using defensive measures. The proactive measures that are recommended on behalf of the manufacturers include 1) installation of the strategic channel management system, 2) development of the skills for efficient interorganization management, 3) investing in efficient system for marketing information and logistics management, 4) more efficient management of brands, and 5) maintenance of price-competitiveness.

  • In this study, the effects of the number and the presentational type of anomalous data on students'cognitive conflict and conceptual change in studying 'conservation of mass before and after combustion'were investigated. The subjects were 128 eighth graders in a co-ed middle school. A preconception test, a test of response to anomalous data, and a conception test were administered. Four types of anomalous data varying the number (one/two) and the presentational type (text/text+figure) were presented. The results indicated that students with two anomalous data showed more cognitive conflicts than those with one. However, no significant differences in the degree of cognitive conflict were found by the presentational types of anomalous data. The ANOVA results indicated that there were no significant differences by the characteristics of anomalous data in the conception test scores.

  • The purpose of the study is to examine various conditions, which are recognized by teachers in the allocation of subject-specialized teachers at elementary schools, into five types of conflicts, in order to offer implications for the operation and allocation of the subject exclusive system henceforth. The study, therefore, categorized the actual allocation process experienced by subject-specialized teachers at elementary schools into five aspects the first is, understanding of students, the second, the ability to teach exclusive subjects, the third, a relationship with students, the fourth, workplace environment at schools, and the fifth, the continuity of subject specialist teachers. Conditions demonstrated in each category are classified into the types that occurred by individual and mutual roles demonstrated through in-depth, where keywords are selected by aspects to suggest conflict conditions. In order to operate the subject exclusive system more efficiently and to boost the effects of positive education, the workplace environment at schools need to be improved urgently, including a variety of training, program development, and financial support. The most vital requirement is to prepare groundwork through mutual understanding and collection of extensive opinions from field teachers based on a consensus that a school is an educational community. The study anticipates that the result could provide a foundation for the preparation of qualitative improvement and development measures for the subject exclusive system at elementary schools.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the influences of husbands' personality types and coping styles on conflict on their satisfaction in marriage life. The results are as follows: First, a most important variable that influences husbands' marital satisfaction is their own coping styles on conflict such as integration and compromise. 'Demographic variables' such as 'education', 'duration of marriage', 'income' and 'personality types', 'extraversion' or 'introversion', came next in order. Second, husbands' marital satisfaction is affected with the strategies they employ in conflict situations. In particular, the strategies as 'integration' and 'compromise' proved to be effective in getting rid of conflicts in marriage life. Third, husbands' 'demographic variables' affect their marital satisfaction. Those who were educated more wealthily and better have a tendency to have fuller marital satisfaction. The longer they had been married, the less they appeared to be satisfied with their marriages. Fourth, husbands' marital satisfaction is closely related to whether they are extroversive or introversive. Extroversive husbands have more marital satisfaction.

  • In this study, we aimed to look at what dilemmas of science teaching elementary school teachers experience and how they cope with their dilemmas in everyday science classes. Three elementary school teachers participated and qualitative data such as class log, class video, and interview materials were analyzed in inductive ways. The main findings are as follows. First, the dilemmas were classified based on the four factors that make up the science class; teacher, student, learning content, environment. However the dilemmas appeared to be not only one factor involved, but the rest of the factors intertwined. Thus, it was interpreted how the main factors causing the dilemmas conflicted with other factors. Second, the types of teachers' coping strategies to the dilemmas could be largely divided into 'give-up', 'stick to' and 'modified'. In some cases, teachers gave up on what they valued and did not take active action ('give-up'), teachers chose what they valued and made decisions to actively realize it ('stick to'), and in others, conflicts were adjusted by introducing new methods or elements to their classes ('modified'). Based on these results, we discussed that the teacher's dilemmas could facilitate the teacher's learning or professional development.

  • It is not an exaggeration to say that our society is already one of disputes. Since circa 2010, the average number of lawsuits filed every year is upwards of six million cases, and resolving disputes through trials is already fully saturated. The functional roles of the court reflect that there are many lacking areas such as systems, tools, and procedures related to social integration. In addition, ADR, which is carried out in advanced capitalist nations to supplement the judicial functions, has also been implemented in our society for the past 60 years. However, for the reason why the usage rate of ADR did not increase for legal consumers, we cannot overlook government activities that did not make sufficient promotions related to the lack of awareness. In Korea, ADR is mainly composed of government-initiated types, and in particular, there is no ADR framework act that can play an integrated role. Furthermore, for the conciliation system of the court, over 80%of conciliation are conducted focusing on court of lawsuits, and legal basis and procedures between institutes are different for administrative ADR, and communication does not go smoothly, thus making it inefficient. Such examples cannot avoid being a background for criticism when considering the fundamental ideologies and beliefs of ADR. The Vinaya Pitaka of sangha related to ADR is a separate method for operating communities. This is the BDR (Buddhist Dispute Resolution) method that encompasses personal ethics, organizational ethics, harmony through various community gatherings, and adhikaranasamatha on the four issues that could occur in legal review procedures. This has become the sufficient background for succession and development for parisa sangha and gana sangha among individuals.

  • Noise which is unwanted sound is a serious pollutant that can affect human health, as well as the working and living environment if exposed to humans. However, current noise management on the construction project is generally conducted after the noise exceeds the regulation standard, which increases the conflicts with inhabitants near the construction site and threats to the safety and productivity of construction workers. To overcome the limitations of the current noise management methods, the activities of construction equipment which is the main source of construction noise need to be managed throughout the construction period in real-time. Therefore, this paper proposed a framework for automatically detecting noise sources in construction sites in real-time based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) according to the following four steps: (i) Step 1: Definition of the noise sources; (ii) Step 2: Data preparation; (iii) Step 3: Noise source classification using the audio CNN; and (iv) Step 4: Noise source detection using the visual CNN. The short-time Fourier transform (STFT) and temporal image processing are used to contain temporal features of the audio and visual data. In addition, the AlexNet and You Only Look Once v3 (YOLOv3) algorithms have been adopted to classify and detect the noise sources in real-time. As a result, the proposed framework is expected to immediately find construction activities as current noise sources on the video of the construction site. The proposed framework could be helpful for environmental construction managers to efficiently identify and control the noise by automatically detecting the noise sources among many activities carried out by various types of construction equipment. Thereby, not only conflicts between inhabitants and construction companies caused by construction noise can be prevented, but also the noise-related health risks and productivity degradation for construction workers and inhabitants near the construction site can be minimized.

  • The objective of this work was to examine the influence of carbonation on the microstructure of cement materials. Different materials, which were CEM I mortar and paste, CEM II mortar and paste, were carbonated at $20^{\circ}C$, 65 % relative humidity and 20 % of $CO_2$ concentration. The specific surface area and pore size distribution were determined from two methods: nitrogen adsorption and water adsorption. The results showed that: (1) nitrogen adsorption and water adsorption do not cover the same porous domains and thus, we observed conflicts in the results obtained by these two techniques; (2) the CEM II based materials seemed to be more sensible to a creation of mesoporosity after carbonation than the CEM I based materials. The results of this study also helped to explain why observations in the literature diverge greatly on the influence of carbonation on specific surface area.

  • To strengthen competences, most of firms have co-operated with external partners. This increases the possibility of unexpected conflicts between firms due to the intellectual property litigation. A suitable intellectual property strategy for firms has to be developed to settle this issue. This study aims to analyze an utilization of intellectual property strategy in firms, and tries to suggest a concept of IP roadmap to support intellectual property strategy planning aligned with technology planning process. For the purposes, we derive five types of intellectual property strategy of firms using Korea Innovation Survey. Then, we explore significant affecting factors using a decision-tree and conduct in-depth analysis for them. Lastly, we suggest a concept of IP roadmap, which can be a supporting tool for developing intellectual property strategy in firms, based on analysis results.
