  • Frame Aggregation is a promissing technology for improving MAC throughput in IEEE 802.11n. In IEEE 802.11n, two frame aggregation schemes, Aggregate MSDU (A-MSDU) and Aggregation MPDU (A-MPDU), are defined. In this paper, we analyze the performance the two-level frame aggregation scheme where A-MSDU and A-MPDU are combined. We develop the analytical model for the two-level frame aggregation scheme and present numerical results on the effect of bit error rate, aggregation size, and the number of nodes.

  • Currently, many of schemes for smart grid data aggregation are based on a one-level gateway (GW) topology. Since the data aggregation granularity in this topology is too single, the control center (CC) is unable to obtain more fine-grained data aggregation results for better monitoring smart grid. To improve this issue, Shen et al. propose an efficient privacy-preserving cube-data aggregation scheme in which the system model consists of two-level GW. However, a risk exists in their scheme that attacker could forge the signature by using leaked signing keys. In this paper, we propose a secure and fine-grained electricity consumption aggregation scheme for smart grid, which employs the homomorphic encryption to implement privacy-preserving aggregation of users' electricity consumption in the two-level GW smart grid. In our scheme, CC can achieve a flexible electricity regulation by obtaining data aggregation results of various granularities. In addition, our scheme uses the forward-secure signature with backward-secure detection (FSBD) technique to ensure the forward-backward secrecy of the signing keys. Security analysis and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can achieve forward-backward security of user's electricity consumption signature. Compared with related schemes, our scheme is more secure and efficient.

  • Sensor networks have been widely applied for data collection. Due to the energy limitation of the sensor nodes and the most energy consuming data transmission, we should allocate as much work as possible to the sensors, such as data compression and aggregation, to reduce data transmission and save energy. Querying extreme values is a general query type in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we propose a novel querying method called Two-Level Filter (TLF) for querying extreme values in wireless sensor networks. We first divide the whole sensor network into domains using the Distributed Data Aggregation Model (DDAM). The sensor nodes report their data to the cluster heads using push method. The advantages of two-level filter lie in two aspects. When querying extreme values, the number of pull operations has the lower boundary. And the query results are less affected by the topology changes of the wireless sensor network. Through this method, the sensors preprocess the data to share the burden of the base station and it combines push and pull to be more energy efficient.

  • In IEEE 802.11n WLANs(Wireless Local Area Networks), to support high throughput, MAC(Media Access Control) layer adopts A-MSDU(Aggregate-MAC Service Data Unit) and A-MPDU(Aggregate-MAC Protocol Data Unit). Generally, as the A-MPDU uses a selective retransmission capability, A-MPDU provides higher throughput than A-MSDU. However, although A-MPDU uses the selective re-transmission capability, if the size of MPDU within A-MPDU is smaller than the size of minimum MPDU starting spacing, A-MPDU can reduce throughput because of the overhead of retransmission owing to the addition of delimiter, that is a dummy MPDU. Therefore, to overcome the above problem, two-level Aggregation method, where the small MPDU within A-MPDU is replaced by not delimiter but A-MSDU, has been introduced. In the two-level Aggregation method, the existing re-transmission scheme retransmits only A-MPDU, but if the size of retransmission data is smaller than the size of the minimum MPDU starting spacing, the proposed retransmission scheme retransmits the aggregated retransmission data and MSDUs. Therefore, we know that the proposed retransmission scheme have better throughput that the existing retransmission scheme.

  • In this study, we have investigated the effects of total saponin from Korean red ginseng (TSKRG) on thrombin-induced platelet aggregation. TSKRG dose-dependently inhibited thrombin-induced platelet aggregation with $IC_{50}$ value of about 81.1 ${\mu}g/mL$. In addition, TSKRG dose-dependently decreased thrombin-elevated the level of cytosolic-free $Ca^{2+}$ ($[Ca^{2+}]_i$), one of aggregation-inducing molecules. Of two $Ca^{2+}$-antagonistic cyclic nucleotides as aggregation-inhibiting molecules, cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), TSKRG significantly dose-dependently elevated intracellular level of cAMP, but not cGMP. In addition, TSKRG dose-dependently inhibited thrombin-elevated adenosine triphosphate (ATP) release from platelets. These results suggest that the suppression of $[Ca^{2+}]_i$ elevation, and of ATP release by TSKRG are associated with upregulation of cAMP. TSKRG elevated the phosphorylation of vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein (VASP)-$Ser^{157}$, a cAMP-dependent protein kinase (A-kinase) substrate, but not the phosphorylation of VASP-$Ser^{239}$, a cGMP-dependent protein kinase substrate, in thrombin-activated platelets. We demonstrate that TSKRG involves in increase of cAMP level and subsequent elevation of VASP-$Ser^{157}$ phosphorylation through A-kinase activation to inhibit $[Ca^{2+}]_i$ mobilization and ATP release in thrombin-induced platelet aggregation. These results strongly indicate that TSKRG is a beneficial herbal substance elevating cAMP level in thrombin-platelet interaction, which may result in preventing of platelet aggregation-mediated thrombotic diseases.

  • Patients' health data is very sensitive and the access to individual's health data should be strictly restricted. However, many data consumers may need to use the aggregated health data. For example, the insurance companies needs to use this data to setup the premium level for health insurances. Therefore, privacy-preserving data aggregation solutions for health data have both theoretical importance and application potentials. In this paper, we propose a privacy-preserving health data aggregation scheme using differential privacy. In our scheme, patients' health data are aggregated by the local healthcare center before it is used by data comsumers, and this prevents individual's data from being leaked. Moreover, compared with the existing schemes in the literature, our work enjoys two additional benefits: 1) it not only resists many well known attacks in the open wireless networks, but also achieves the resilience against the human-factor-aware differential aggregation attack; 2) no trusted third party is employed in our proposed scheme, hence it achieves the robustness property and it does not suffer the single point failure problem.

  • For the information on micellization at each ginsenoside level aqueous solution of purified saponin of Panax ginseng root was dialyzed through dialysis tubing (MW 12,000) or eluted through Bio-Gel P-2 (MW 200-2,000) and analysed for ginsenosides by high performance liquid chromatography. Ginsenosides can be classified into three groups depending upon molecular aggregation pattern and spatial arrangement of hydrophilic parts in molecule. Group I that is large micelle former(aggregation number: above 10) and one side hydrophilic part (HP) includes $ginsenoside\;Rb_1$, $Rb_2$, Rc and Rd (diols). Group II thai is small micelle former (aggregation number:>10-1) and semi-two sales HP includes $Rg_2$, Rf (triol) and $Rg_3$ (diol). Group III that is no micelle former (aggregation number: 1) and two sides HP includes Re and $Rg_1$ (triol).

  • One of the most important scalability issues facing the current Internet is the rapidly increasing rate of BGP updates (BGP churn), to which route flap and path exploration are the two major contributors. Current countermeasures would either cause severe reachability loss or delay BGP convergence, and are becoming less attractive for the rising concern about routing convergence as the prevalence of Internet-based real time applications. Based on the observation that highly active prefixes usually repeatedly explore very few as-paths during path exploration, we propose a router-level mechanism, Path Exploration Aggregation (PEA), to scale BGP without either causing prefix unreachable or slowing routing convergence. PEA performs aggregation on the transient paths explored by a highly active prefix, and propagates the aggregated path instead to reduce the updates caused by as-path changes. Moreover, in order to avoid the use of unstable routes, PEA purposely prolongs the aggregated path via as-path prepending to make it less preferred in the perspective of downstream routers. With the BGP traces obtained from RouteViews and RIPE-RIS projects, PEA can reduce BGP updates by up to 63.1%, shorten path exploration duration by up to 53.3%, and accelerate the convergence 7.39 seconds on average per routing event.
