A Study on Clothing evaluative Criteria of Various Clothing Items (II) (의류상품 유형별 평가기준에 관한 연구(II))

  • The objectives of the study were two folds. The first objective was to determine the dimensions of the evaluative criteria of various clothing items (underwear, pajamas, jeans, blouse, two-piece, coat). The second objective was to compare the importance of the dimensions according to the clothing items and the socioeconomic status of the subjects. The questionnaires were administered to college female students living in Seoul. Principal component factor analysis with varimax rotation and ANOVA were used for the analysis. The results were as follows; 1) The evaluative criteria dimensions were found to be different according to clothing items. (1) In underwear, pajamas, jeans, evaluative criteria were classified into Aesthetic dimension, economic dimension and Functional dimension. (2) In blouse, two-piece, coat, evaluative criteria were classified into Aesthetic dimension and practical dimension. 2) there were partially significant differences in placing importance on each evaluative criteria dimension between socio-economic groups. (1) In jeans, there was a significant difference in placing importance on Aesthetic dimension between socioeconomic status groups. (2) In blouse and two-piece there was a significant difference in placing importance on Practical dimension between socioeconomic status groups.

Characteristics of Hand Dimensions and Hand Scale for Koreans (한국인의 대표적 손 치수 특성과 손 스케일)

  • This study presents characteristics of representative five hand dimensions including hand length, medius finger length, hand circumference, hand breadth and hand thickness, and hand scales by gender and age for Koreans. The study was based on data of hand dimensions published in 2008 by Korean Agency for Technology and Standards. The hand dimensions of males were nearly the same as those of females until age of 12~13(10~11 in hand thickness), but the males' were larger than the females' from age group of 14~15 or 12~13. The growth of the hand dimensions was found until age of 12~13(14~15 in hand thickness) in females and 16~17 in males. After the age groups, the hand dimensions was almost the same irrespective of age groups. ANOVA was performed to investigate significant factors affecting hand dimensions. Representative five hand dimensions were significantly affected by gender and age, while they were not affected by occupation. Two hand scales were proposed depending upon gender, for easily using hand characteristics in design stage of hand relevant products. In addition, regression equations were provided for quantitatively predicting hand dimensions on the basis of representative five hand dimensions.

  • In this paper, we propose two kinds of chaos dimensions, the fuzzy correlation and fuzzy Lyapunov dimensions, for speaker recognition. The proposal is based on the point that chaos enables us to analyze the non-linear information contained in individual's speech signal and to obtain superior discrimination capability. We confirm that the proposed fuzzy chaos dimensions play an important role in enhancing speaker recognition ratio, by absorbing the variations of the reference and test pattern attractors. In order to evaluate the proposed fuzzy chaos dimensions, we suggest speaker recognition using the proposed dimensions. In other words, we investigate the validity of the speaker recognition parameters, by estimating the recognition error according to the discrimination error of an individual speaker from the reference pattern.

Addressing User Engagement in Social Media Platforms with Cultural Differences Based on Hofstede's Dimensions

  • This paper proposes the presence and importance of cultural differences to address user engagement in worldwide social media platforms. Based on Hofstede's cultural dimensions, this paper addresses their new meanings in the context of user engagement in social media. Our propositions address two research questions: (1) how do cultural dimensions, displayed on social media platforms, differ across national cultures?; (2) what different preferences the social media platforms have in terms of which cultural dimensions promote or suppress user engagement? User engagement in social media platforms is explained by the cultural differences in terms of the four cultural dimensions: individualism vs. collectivism, uncertainty avoidance, power distance, and masculinity vs. femininity. Implications are also discussed for research and practice.

  • The concept of Gibbs’ phenomenon has not been made for higher dimension in wavelets. In this paper we extend the concept in two dimensional wavelets. We give the fundamental concept of jump discontinuity in two dimensions. We provide the criteria for the existence of Gibbs phenomenon for both separable and tensor product wavelets.

Optimal ρ acceleration parameter for the ADI iteration for the real three dimensional Helmholtz equation with nonnegative ω

  • The Helmholtz equation is very important in physics and engineering. However, solution of the Helmholtz equation is in general known as a very difficult phenomenon. For if the ${\omega}$ is negative, the FDM discretized linear system becomes indefinite, whose solution by iterative method requires a very clever preconditioner. In this paper we assume that ${\omega}$ is nonnegative, and determine the optimal ${\rho}$ parameter for the three dimensional ADI iteration for the Helmholtz equation. The ADI(Alternating Direction Implicit) method is also getting new attentions due to the fact that it is very suitable to the vector/parallel computers, for example, as a preconditioner to the Krylov subspace methods. However, classical ADI was developed for two dimensions, and for three dimensions it is known that its convergence behaviour is quite different from that in two dimensions. So far, in three dimensions the so-called Douglas-Rachford form of ADI was developed. It is known to converge for a relatively wide range of ${\rho}$ values but its convergence is very slow. In this paper we determine the necessary conditions of the ${\rho}$ parameter for the convergence and optimal ${\rho}$ for the three dimensional ADI iteration of the Peaceman-Rachford form for the real Helmholtz equation with nonnegative ${\omega}$. Also, we conducted some experiments which is in close agreement with our theory. This straightforward extension of Peaceman-rachford ADI into three dimensions will be useful as an iterative solver itself or as a preconditioner to the the Krylov subspace methods, such as CG(Conjugate Gradient) method or GMRES(m).

Managing Mega-Project Complexity in Five Dimensions

  • Traditional project management theory is based on a three-dimensional life cycle approach where the project managerseeks to optimize the dimensions of cost-schedule-technical (quality or design). This paper reports the findings of a case study analysis of two complex mega-projects in Michigan which confirm the findings of previous research and illustrates the use of a framework for five-dimensional project management (5DPM) that is for conceptualizing a complex project's scope of work. The framework elevates the recognition that the project's social/political context and the financial arrangements create complexity adding two new dimensions. This paper also demonstrates a methodology to graphically display a project's complexity to better understand and prioritize the available resources. The result is a "complexity footprint" that may help a complex project manager identify the boundary between controllable and uncontrollable projects impacts. The paper finds that applying 5DPM to the two case study projects has given the project delivery team a tool which is actually adding value to the complex project management process.

Dimensions of Experiential Value: Is it the same across Retail Channels?

  • Purpose: While empirical importance of dimensionality of perceived value is widely accepted, our understanding of experiential value dimensions in other retail channels and other cultures has not been explicitly tested. This study attempted to determine if the dimensions of experiential value scale (EVS) by Mathwick, Malhotra, and Rigdon (2001) identified in US catalog and Internet contexts could be applied in other international markets (South Korea) and in other retail channels (department store versus Internet shopping mall). Methodology/Approach: Two data sets, one from 220 department store shoppers and the other from 359 Internet shopping mall shoppers, were analyzed. Findings: Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed four different EVS dimensions by retail channels. Overall, entertainment and intrinsic enjoyment values were found to be more important in department store while economic and efficiency value dimensions were interpreted critical in Internet shopping mall context. Visual appeal aspect constitutes distinct value dimension in two channels. Practical Implications: One separate dimension of time efficiency in Internet shopping mall suggests that more efficient web design and functions that can save time and promote convenience are needed to better accommodate their customers. Internet has heavily relied on traditional attributes, such as factual information, price comparability, and brand name reliance. However, this study suggests that Internet shopping mall retailer should offer visual diversion and stimulation just as brick and mortar shopping malls do. Originality /Value of Paper: Although the research findings must be viewed as tentative because the results are from one country, they provide a rich basis for further understanding the dimensions of experiential value in other international markets and other retail channels.   • This study proposes evaluation dimensions of object-oriented systems modelling tools and activities available in object-oriented systems development practices. The dimensions ale developed based on previous research in cognitive psychology, information systems modeling study, and object-oriented systems analysis arid design areas. The proposed dimension is composed of two dimensions. The one dimension includes abstraction levels of modelling and the other includes process and representation in modeling activities. Experts on object-oriented modeling were selected to evaluate the practical validity of the proposed dimensions and applications of major object-oriented modeling tools during systems development project. Most of the tools were observed to be used for representing objects rather than for modeling the process of related objects. The proposed modeling dimension will be evaluated for acquiring general validity in future empirical research.

  • The main purpose of this study is to suggest the new strategic management model for the future successful company. The new model consists of the following structure. First, to identify the object dimension. The upper object is to satisfy the customers needs. And the lower object is to satisfy the workers needs. Second, to identify the external enviromental problems dimensions. There are five dimensions. They are ethical responsinilities, government-business alliances, collaboration amongst competitors, innovative invester-company relations, and globalization of enterprise. Third, to identify the internal enviromental problems dimensions. There are two dimensions. They are new organizational forms and integrated subcultures. Fourth, to find the solution for the above dimensions. The solution is as follow. All the managers and workers must have business reengineering minds and apply the complexity management. And the company should construct the strategic information systems.
