  • Consider a situation that a specific treatment is regarded as the best in comparing several treatments. In this case, a natural procedure to decide the best treatment is to choose the specific one which is proved to be better than each one of the others. This study proposes a method for detecting the best by comparing two treatments from the above point of view. Since this method deals with comparing only two treatments, it is very simple to use and expected to be widely applicable.

  • Vision-based tracking has been proposed as a means to efficiently track a large number of construction resources operating in a congested site. In order to obtain 3D coordinates of an object, it is necessary to employ stereo-vision theories. Detecting and tracking of multiple objects require an entity matching process that finds corresponding pairs of detected entities across the two camera views. This paper proposes an efficient way of entity matching for tracking of construction workers. The proposed method basically uses epipolar geometry which represents the relationship between the two fixed cameras. Each pixel coordinate in a camera view is projected onto the other camera view as an epipolar line. The proposed method finds the matching pair of a worker entity by comparing the proximity of the all detected entities in the other view to the epipolar line. Experimental results demonstrate its suitability for automated entity matching for 3D vision-based tracking of construction workers.

  • A measurement technique for the void fraction and the bubble dynamics in gas-liquid two-phase flows has been proposed using a time-resolved two-phase PIV system. For the three-dimensional evaluation of the bubble information, both the images from the front and side views are simultaneously recorded into a high speed CCD camera by reflecting the side image into the front view with the help of a $45^{\circ}$ oriented mirror. Then, a stereo-matching technique is applied to calculate the void fraction, bubble size and shape. To obtain the rising bubble velocities, the 2-frame PTV method was applied. Consequently, the present technique shows good feasibility for the measurements of the volume fractions, mean diameters, aspect ratios and velocities of the bubbles at the three-dimensional point of view.

  • We suggest a method which reduces the search space of a model-base on multiple-view approach for polyhedral object recognition using the ART-1 neural network. In this approach, the model-base is consisted of extracted features from two-dimensional projections observed at the predetermined viewpoints of a viewing sphere enclosing the object.

  • The river cross section in the input/output data which are needed in the area of river flow analysis is very important factor. The bottom elevation of actual river cross section has to be correctly reflected to obtain correct results when two dimensional flow analysis is conducted for natural river. But to reflect virtually the bottom elevation of river cross section is impossible. The objective of this study is to suggest a method for creating equi-distance river cross section by using both HEC section and ArcView and constructing the finite element mesh. The main channels of Han and Nakdong river were selected and equi-distance river cross sections constructed in this study have shown good agreement with the observed river cross sections. In addition, high quality finite element meshes can be applied to many areas of study such as finite element analysis for water quality and two dimensional flow analysis using the suggested method for equi-distance river cross sections in this study.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in the method of patternmaking, difficult in draft of patternmaking, fit in sleeve, aesthetic view, fashionableness in the five types of two-piece sleeve under the controled situation. Five types of two piece sleeve that were originated from five countries including domestic companies which called A type, B type, C type, D type, and E type were used. In order to conduct the experiment fur the study, 10 persons who were well organized about the patternmaking drafted 5 types of sleeve and were tested for the differences in the method of patternmaking, difficulty in draft of patternmaking. Another panel were tested for fit in sleeve, aesthetic view, fashionableness in the five types of two-piece sleeve in jacket under the controled situation. The results of this study were as followed 1. C type was needed height of armhole in bodice and D type was needed height of armhole and width of armhole in bodice as well as all parts of sleeve measurements to draft patternmaking. 2. There were significant differences of the items such as cap height, ease amount around sleeve cap, width of sleeve, forwardness of sleeve and the length of elbow line of the five types patternmaking drafted. 3. There were significant differences of difficulty in draft of the five types of patternmaking. C type and E type were easier to draft. 4. There were significant differences in fitness of the sleeves in jacket. C type and E type were more fit. 5. There were significant differences in aesthetic view. A type, B type and E type were more aesthetic under the situation. 6. There were significant differences in fashionableness in jackets. A type and E type were more fashionable under the situation.

  • This paper presents a robust method to combine a collection of images with small fields of view to obtain an image with a large field of view. In the previous works, there are two main areas which one is a cross correlation-based method and the other is a feature-based method. The former is based on motion estimation from video sequences. so there are a problem on rotating a camera about optical axis. In the latter method, it is difficult to match correspondence feature points correctly.'re find correct correspondences, we proposed the geometrical feature model and correspondence filters and the Gaussian distribution weight function to blend the images smoothly. The experiments show that our method is robust and effective.

  • We propose a new computing method for Fourier hologram of 3D objects captured by lens array. Fourier hologram of the two objects which positioned at different distances can be calculated using multiple orthographic view images. The size of the Fourier hologram is in proportion to the number of the orthographic view images. By repeating the orthographic view images, the size of the Fourier hologram can be increased. The principle is verified by numerically reconstructing the hologram which is synthesized from the orthographic images captured optically.

  • A mathematical approach to solving the time-varying obstacle avoidance problem is pursued. The mathematical formulation of the problem is given in robot joint space(JS). View-time concept is used to deal with time-varying obstacles. The view-time is the period in which a time-varying obstacles. The view-time is the period in which a time-varying obstacle is viewed and approximated by an equivalent stationary obstacle. The equivalent stationary obstacle is the volume swept by the time-varying obstacle for the view-time. The swept volume is transformed into the JS obstacle that is the set of JS robot configurations causing the collision between the robot and the swept volume. In JS, the path avoiding the JS obstacle is planned, and a trajectory satisfying the constraints on robot motion planning is planned along the path. This method is applied to the collision-free motion planning of two SCARA robots, and the simulation results are given.

  • A 3D stereoscopic image is generated by interdigitating every scene with video editing tools that are rendered by two cameras' views in 3D modeling tools, like Autodesk MAX(R) and Autodesk MAYA(R). However, the depth of object from a static scene and the continuous stereo effect in the view of transformation, are not represented in a natural method. This is because after choosing the settings of arbitrary angle of convergence and the distance between the modeling and those two cameras, the user needs to render the view from both cameras. So, the user needs a process of controlling the camera's interval and rendering repetitively, which takes too much time. Therefore, in this paper, we will propose the 3D stereoscopic image editing system for solving such problems as well as exposing the system's inherent limitations. We can generate the view of two cameras and can confirm the stereo effect in real-time on 3D modeling tools. Then, we can intuitively determine immersion of 3D stereoscopic image in real-time, by using the 3D stereoscopic image preview function.
