  • The pulpous of this study is to investigated the kind and feature of the knots used in four categories, "living, clothing, ceremony, and decoration", after analysing and examining 42 knot remains of the folklore museum of On yang. The method were by old books and various kind's related books, history of knots and kind of knots investigated and analyze relics were actual proof investigation of real things and supplementary materials were photos, drawings, and museum's explanation used. The results are as is following ; First, a knot is twisted by two threads, formed in the process of twisting, become in equal shape, and made in symmetry. Second, In knot's names, there are sangkang, karakge, ankyongchip, jamjary, kukhwa, bol, byongary, memi, kkondiki, kong, yonbong which are easily seen in nature. Third, a knot was used in as living things in the era of the three Kingdoms, as a decoration such as Buddhism goods in Koryo. In the era of Cho sun, Because of the development of knot's kind and the variety of service, it was the target of restriction as a luxury. Fourth, as a result of investigating museum's relics, a knot was smaller than the chief object because that is a decoration. Fifth, there are 8 kinds for living and clothing which are simple knots "doramaetup, karakgemaetup, and sangtchokmaetup". Sixth, the complex knots such as kukhwamaetup, byongarymaetup, and 3bolkamkae emaetup are used on pangchang, chokja, nambawi, and chobawi. Seventh, there are 10 kinds for ceremony, the simple knots are twisted and the complex knots such as kukhwamaetp, maehwamaetup, nabimaetup, and sasaekgupoki are used. Eighth, there are 14 kinds for decoration, the simple knots such as doraemaetup, kakagemaetup, santchokmaetup, and ankyongchipmaetup and the applied knots such as kukhwamaetup, byongarymaemaetup, changkumaetup, nabimaetup, and seokssima etup are used. There are 42 knot remains in the folklore museum of On yang. Of them, there are 33 kinds in the present, 17 used. that is because only several knots have been used. Finally, to forget the knot's way, we will set up a plan to keep with it.

  • This studies have been carried out for several years to develop more better urea resin treating process on silk textiles which may be better crease resist without harming on the textile touch feeling. Specially, this paper payed attention to minimize the necessary formaldehyde content to be condensed with urea and created a new processing method which is named as Homo Metalic Urea Resin found to be better than urea resin process. The obtained results are as followings. 1. The prepared urea resin was found to be smell-less because of minimized formaldehyde content is the least than any other reports carried out before than this. 2. A new type of urea resin has been created by using uric 2incchloride and formaldehyde which is named as Homo Metalic Urea Resin. This processing method may carry both weighing process and urea resin process. 3. Crease resistance, stiffness and bulkiness were increased through such resin treats. Homo metalic urea resin process showed better results than the urea resin process. 4. Spun silk or low twisted silk have shown better crease resistance than raw silk or high twisted silk upon the both resin treats. 5. Both treat methods were found to be good economical feasibility upon the silk finishing process. 6. Tenacity and elongation of silk fibers were found to decrease some what because of grafting or weighing results. 7. Wooly silk has been also created with specific urea resin process. Such silk could be obtained by formaldehyde gas treat with urea soaken silk in a chamber, which induced to form scale on the surface of silk fibers.

  • Recently, High-rise building are irregular-shaped to be city landmarks and function as vertical cities to enable the efficient use of land. 3T (Twisted, Tilted & Tapered) designs are being suggested for irregular buildings and studies to develop new structural system have been actively made to satisfy slender shape ratio. In diagrid system, not only gravity load but also lateral load is delivered based on the triangular shape of diagrid, so most of columns are eliminated. Because shearing force is delivered by the axial behavior (tensile/compressive) of diagrid to minimize shearing deformation, the system is more applicable to irregular buildings than existing system where shearing force is delivered by the columns. In this study, the process of selecting connection details and the structural safety of the selected details are verified using the finite element analysis with focus given to the construction overview of the Cyclone Tower. However, the relersed methods of stress concentration are suggested and the performance of stress concentration relieves that it's suggested for the appropriate cap plate thickness and extended length.

  • Introduction : Recent studies Suggested that there is a strong correlation between acupuncture stimulation and its related cortical activation. Anther study showed that either positive or negative BOLD effects could be observed depending on anatomical structure in acupuncture stimulation. In ttis study, we investigated a new acupoint $KI_6$ (照海), which was known as motor-related acupoint and obtained an evidence that the stimulation of $KI_6$ resulted in either negative or positive BOLD response to stimulation. Methods & Results : 1. Subjects and paradigms : Two separate stimulation paradigms were performed on five healthy (aged 22-23 yrs) in this study. First, the paradigm of acupuncture stimulation was that the acupuncture needle was inserted in acupoints $KI_6$, which is located in lateral side of the foot and then continuously twisted(補瀉를 除外한 捻轉法) for 70 seconds for 10 cycles of activation. During rest period (70 seconds), the needle was completed removed from acupoint. Total 60 cycles were performed and 10 images were obtained per cycle. Second, nonacupoint was randomly selected and the same paradigm was performed as acupoint stimulation. The stimulation protocol comprised 10 cycles of alternating. activation and rest (10 images per cycle). Total 60 cycles were performed and each cycle take about 1.5 sec for motor task. Subjects take an at least 15 minutes break before starting anther paradigm. 2. fMRI mapping : Multi-slice functional images were obtained on a 1.5T Magnetom Vision MRI scanner (Simens Medical, Erlangen, Germany) equipped with high performance whole-body gradients. The BOLD T2 * - weighted images were acquired with acho planar imaging sequence (TR = 1.2 sec, TE = 60 msec, and flip angle = $90_{\circ}$). The other sequence parameter are : FOV = 210 mm, matrix=$64{\times}128$ or $64{\times}64$, slice number=10 and slice thickness = 5 or 8 mm. the anatomic images were obtained with Spin-echo T1-weighted images. The resulting images were then anaiyzed with STIMULATE (CMRR, U. of Minnesota) to generate functional maps using a student T-test (p < 0.005) and cluster analysis. Both positive and negative response were evaluated. Conclusions : We have observed the activation of the motor cortex by stimulating motor-related acupoint ($KI_6$). Among five subjects, negative BOLD response was shown in four and positive response in one. All subjects showed positive response to conventional finger flexion-extension task. To understand the detailed mechanisms of correlation between acupuncture stimulation and BOLD fMRI changes and two typs of response, further study strongly required.

  • Recently, complex-shaped tall buildings represented by 3T(Twisted, Tapered, Tilted) are planed largely. A diagrid structural system is one of the most widely used structural system for complex-shaped tall buildings because of its structural efficiency and formativeness. Plans for tilted tall buildings are largely presented because of beauty of a sculpture and many of buildings use diagrid structural systems. Lateral displacements of tilted tall buildings are induced by not only lateral loads but also self weight. Therefore, reduction of lateral responses of tilted tall buildings is as important as typical tall buildings. In this study, a smart TMD is introduced to reduce seismic responses of tilted diagrid tall buildings and its control performance is evaluated. MR damper is employed for the smart TMD and ground-hook controller is used as a control algorithm for the smart TMD. 100-story tall building is used as an example structure. Control performances of uncontrolled case, controlled case with TMD and controlled case with smart TMD are compared and investigated. Numerical simulation has shown that smart TMD presented good control performance for displacement response but acceleration response was not controlled well.

  • This study identified material properties through scientific analysis on Jikgeumdan(satin with gold threads) from Donggungbi-Wonsam and the gold threads used in the embroidery. The Donggungbi-Wonsam's base of gold threads were estimated to have used mulberry fiber's Korean paper(Hanji) because non-wood-based fibers were observed. The X-ray spectrometer showed that the Tongsuseulan of Donggungbi-Wonsam was a flat gold thread of pure gold and Jikgeumdan of flat silver thread of its Saekdong and Hansam. High sulfur levels were detected in the flat silver thread, which appeared to have formed silver sulfide by either manufacturing process using sulfur or conservation environment. he dragon insignia's embroidery is also described as two types twisted gold threads; pure gold and alloying-gold and silver. while dragon insignia's border line is decorated with a twisted gold thread of pure gold. In particular, it was investigated that adhesives such as an animal glue, a protein-based compound by gas chromatography mass spectrometry. Additionally, XRF and Raman spectroscopy analysis on the mixture substances between the metal surface and the base paper of gold threads identified talc and quartz in the gold threads and Seokganju(hematite) in the flat silver threads.

  • The gilt-bronze-and-silver shoes, excavated from the Tomb of King Muryeong, revealed many defective parts, which constantly raised in-depth re-investigation and reporting. In that point, scientific treatment and analysis were conducted to investigate the manufacturing techniques applied. The conservation treatment was carried out with an emphasis on the restoration of the original form and joining parts. As a result, the upper part of the right shoe and some part of the back heel were joined, confirming the joining method and the number of rivet used for instep bonding. From the component analysis, it is presumed that the outer plate was gilded with mercury amalgam on pure copper, and pure silver was used for the inner plate. The main pattern of the gilt-bronze-and-silver shoes includes designs of phoenix, lotus, and six-petal flower, while the lotus pattern is high in terms of ratio. Thus, youngnaksa(twisted gilt-bronze thread), geumdongsa(gilt-bronze thread), wondujeong (rivet), and samyeonjeong(quadrangular cleats) were used for bonding each plate. Twisted gilt-bronze thread was used to join the inner and outer plates, while the center and rear of the inner plate were combined with only gilt-bronze threads. From the fact, it is presumed that the joining method was different whether the function was decoration or just bonding. Regarding the manufacturing process, traces of burnishing were confirmed on the outer surface of the gilt-bronze and silver shoes, but no burnishing traces were identified on the inner surface of the silver plate, which is likely to prove more importance put on the finishing of the outer plates rather than that of the inner.

  • Time domain reflectometry (TDR) is a diagnostic technique to evaluate the physical integrity of cable and finds application in leak detection and localization of piping system. In this study, a cable-shaped leak detection sensor was proposed using the TDR technique for monitoring leakage detection of ship's engine room seawater piping system. The cable sensor was developed using a twisted pair arrangement and wound by an absorbent material. The availability and performance of the sensor for leak detection and localization were evaluated on a lab-scale pipeline set up. The developed sensor was installed onto the pipes and flanges of the lab-scale set up and various TDR waveforms were acquired and analyzed according to the dif erent variables including the number of twists and sheath thickness. The result indicated that the twisted cable sensor was able to produce clear and smooth signal as compared to the TDR sensor with a parallel arrangement. The optimal number of twist was determined to be above 10 per the unit length. The optimal diameter of sheath thickness that results in the desired sensitivity was determined to be ranging from 80% up to 120% of the diameter of the conductor. The linear regression analysis for estimation of leak localization was carried out to estimate the location of the leakage, and the result was a determination coefficient of 0.9998, indicating a positive relationship with the actual leakage point. The proposed TDR based leak detection method appears to be an effective method for monitoring leakage of ship's seawater piping system.

  • The two-for-one(TFO) twister is precision machinery that twists fibers rapidly under constant tension. Since the quality of the twisted yarn is directly deteriorated by faults of the twister, such as the distortion of the spinning axis, bearing abrasion, and tension irregularity, it is important to detect faults of the TFO twister at an early stage. In this research, a new algorithm is proposed to detect faults of the TFO twister and their causes, by measuring the vibrations of the TFO twister and obtaining frequency components with a FFT algorithm. The TFO twister with faults showed increased vibrations and each fault generated vibrations at different frequencies. By analyzing changes of characteristics of vibrations, we can determine faulty twisters. The proposed fault detection algorithm can be implemented cheaply with a signal processor chip. It can be used to find when to repair a faulty TFO twister without much loss of yam on-line.

  • We synthesised a photo-alignment material of PM4Ch (poly(4-methacryloylloxychalcone)). The electro-optical (EO) characteristics of photo-aligned twisted nematic (TN)-liquid crystal display (LCD) with linearly polarized ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation on PM4Ch surface were investigated. The uniform alignment of NLC with polarized UV light irradiation on PM4Ch surface was measured. Also, We had The excellent voltage-transmittance characteristics of photo-aligned TN-LCD. The low threshold voltage of photo-aligned TN-LCD was measured. Moreover, the fast response time of photo-aligned TN-LCD on PM4Ch was successfully achieved. Finally The reduction DC voltage of photo-aligned TN-LCD decreases with increasing the UV light irradiation time on photo-dimerized PM4Ch surface.
