  • Support Vector machine is the classifier which is based on the statistical training theory. Twin Support Vector Machine(TWSVM) is a kind of binary classifier that determines two nonparallel planes by solving two related SVM-type problems. The training time of TWSVM is shorter than that of SVM, but TWSVM doesn't shows worse performance than that of SVM. This paper proposes the TWSVM which is applied fuzzy membership, and compares the performance of this classifier with the other classifiers using Ionosphere radar data set.

  • Most of the predictions using machine learning are neutral predictions considering the symmetrical situation where the predicted value is not smaller or larger than the actual value. However, in some situations, asymmetric prediction such as over-prediction or under-prediction may be better than neutral prediction, and it can induce better judgment by providing various predictions to decision makers. A method called Asymmetric Twin Support Vector Regression (ATSVR) using TSVR(Twin Support Vector Regression), which has a fast calculation time, was proposed by controlling the asymmetry of the upper and lower widths of the ε-tube and the asymmetry of the penalty with two parameters. In addition, by applying the existing GSVQR and the proposed ATSVR, prediction using the prediction propensities of over-prediction, under-prediction, and neutral prediction was performed. When two parameters were used for both GSVQR and ATSVR, it was possible to predict according to the prediction propensity, and ATSVR was found to be more than twice as fast in terms of calculation time. On the other hand, in terms of accuracy, there was no significant difference between ATSVR and GSVQR, but it was found that GSVQR reflected the prediction propensity better than ATSVR when checking the figures. The accuracy of under-prediction or over-prediction was lower than that of neutral prediction. It seems that using both parameters rather than using one of the two parameters (p_1,p_2) increases the change in the prediction tendency. However, depending on the situation, it may be better to use only one of the two parameters.

  • Widespread use of smart devices accompanies increase of use of access point (AP), which enables the connection to the wireless network. If the appropriate security is not served when a user tries to connect the wireless network through an AP, various security problems can arise due to the rogue APs. In this paper, we are going to examine the threat by evil-twin, which is a kind of rogue APs. Most of recent researches for detecting rogue APs utilize the measured time difference, such as round trip time (RTT), between the evil-twin and authorized APs. These methods, however, suffer from the low detection rate in the network congestion. Due to these reasons, in this paper, we suggest a new factor, packet inter-arrival time (PIAT), in order to detect evil-twins. By using both RTT and PIAT as the learning factors for the support vector machine (SVM), we determine the non-linear metric to classify evil-twins and authorized APs. As a result, we can detect evil-twins with the probability of up to 96.5% and at least 89.75% even when the network is congested.

  • With the development of machine learning techniques, various types of data such as vibration, temperature, and flow rate can be used to detect and diagnose abnormalities in machine conditions. In particular, in the field of the state monitoring of rotating machines, the fault diagnosis of machines using vibration data has long been carried out, and the methods are also very diverse. In this study, an experiment was conducted to collect vibration data from normal and abnormal compressors by installing accelerometers directly on rotary compressors used in household air conditioners. Data segmentation was performed to solve the data shortage problem, and the main features for the fault classification model were extracted through the chi-square test after statistical and physical features were extracted from the vibration data in the time domain. The support vector machine (SVM) model was developed to classify the normal or abnormal conditions of compressors and improve the classification accuracy through the hyperparameter optimization of the SVM.
