  • This study investigates the credibility judgements of information by tweens using digital media and information. Particularly, the study focused on tweens' perception of internet research and information use and on their credibility judgement of source and message, internet service providers, and on consulting with others for their credibility judgement. The survey methodology was used to collect data from grade 5 and 6 students in two elementary schools whose parents are likely in middle and upper class. 336 valid questionnaires were collected among 400. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and t-test were used to analyze the data collected using SPSS 25. Findings suggested that tweens understood the importance of using smart media and computers, that they used Youtube, Naver, Kakao talk, Naver JisikIN much in sequence, and that they believed the Internet research was easy and fun. Using exploratory factor analysis, the survey questions for credibility judgement were classified into three factors: Internet service providers, sources and information, and consulting with others. Tweens used sources and information credibility, consulting with others credibility, Internet service providers credibility in sequence. However, it was interesting to find that there were greater deviation in answers on knowing how to find out the cognitive authority of the authors and on the importance of using current information. This study suggests the critical need for tweens' credibility judgement research for promoting critical thinking skills as well as for proactive educational practices in schools and libraries on information literacy.

  • The purpose of the research was to explore clothing characteristics that tween girls(ages 9-14) consider important when deciding what to wear, as well as what the tween girls' mothers believe that their daughters value. The purposive sample consisted of 41 mother-daughter pairs recruited by $[TC]^2$ (Textile/Clothing Technology Corporation). Subjects were divided into younger(9-11) and older(12-14) normal- and plus-size groups based on Body Mass Index(BMI). There were significant differences between mothers and daughters in rating the importance of seven decision criteria concerning what to wear. The entire tween girls reported that clothes that fit well as the most important criteria in deciding what to wear. Clothes that were comfortable was the only criterion significantly related to the tween girls' body dissatisfaction scores. Mothers rated clothes that are the newest fashion and that friends would be wearing as being significantly more important than their daughters reported. There was a significant negative correlation between tween girls' body dissatisfaction scores and choosing clothes that are comfortable. Normal-size tweeen girls and their mothers differed significantly only when considering the newest fashion and what friends would be wearing. Plus-size tween girls and their mothers differed significantly for four criteria: fit, comfort, best looking, and what friends would be wearing. Both younger and older groups differed with mothers concerning what friends would be wearihng. Additionally, younger girls placed significantly more emphasis than their mothers fit. Older girls did not consider the newest fashion an important a decision criterion, but their mothers believed that they did.

  • Bioconversion of fumarate to succinate by Enterococcus sp. RKY1 was enhanced when Tween surfactant, organic solvent, and vegetable oil were added to the fermentation medium. The maximum amount of succinate produced was 80.4 g/l after a 24 h incubation when Tween 80 was added to the culture to a final concentration of 0.1 g/l. Triton X-l00 was observed to damage the enzymes and inhibit the formation of succinate. The addition of 10 ml/l acetone increased the production of succinate by 110%. Vegetable oils used were found to be effective for succinate production as well as for the cell growth. Similar productivity increases were obtained with corn oil and Tween 80 plus biotin with the total productivity being 3.6 g/l/h, and 3.5 g/l/h, respectively, which was approximately 25% greater than that of the control. Therefore, these results indicate that com oil can be considered the most appropriate agent for the production of succinate where succinic acid was primarily used in the production of food, medicine, and cosmetics.

  • Solid Lipid Nanoparticle(SLN), one of the colloidal carrier systems, has many advantages such as good biocompatibility, low toxicity and stability. In this paper, the effects of drug lipophilicity and surfactant on the drug loading capacity, particle size and drug release profile were examined. SLNs were prepared by homogenization of melted lipid dispersed in an aqueous surfactant solution. Ketoprofen, ibuprofen and pranoprofen were used as model drugs and tweens and poloxamers were tested for the effect of surfactant. Mean particle size of prepared SLNs was ranged from 100 to 150nm. The drug loading capacity was improved with the most lipophilic drug and low concentration of surfactant. Particle size and polydispersity of SLNs were changed according to the used lipid and surfactant. The rates of drug release were controlled by the loading drug and surfactant concentration. SLN system with effective drug loading efficiency and proper particle size for the intravenous or oral formulation can be prepared by selecting optimum drug and surfactant.

  • Women's perceptions of body size and body image are important topics for researchers in multiple fields. The terms body image or body self refer to perceptions and beliefs that an individual holds about his or her body (Rosenbaum, 1979; Schilder, 1953). Few studies have focused on body image perceptions as they relate to parent-child pairs. This study investigated the perceptions that mothers and daughters each had of their own body, the other's body, and their ideals for the same. The purposive sample used in this study consisted of 41 mother-daughter pairs. The sampled focus was girls between ages 9 and 14, and their mothers. Significant differences between how mothers saw their daughters and how daughters saw themselves emerged only for the plus size group. The clearest significant difference between mothers and daughters was in their dissatisfaction with themselves. The mothers were more dissatisfied. flus-size girls were significantly more dissatisfied with their mothers' bodies than normal size girls were with their mothers' bodies. The mothers of plus size girls were significantly more dissatisfied with their daughters' bodies than were the mothers of normal size daughters.

  • Present work was executed to evaluate effects of adjuvants. stabilizers. moisture. pH and heavy metals on the stability of Fenitrothion in the emulsifiable concentrate. In addition, susceptibility ' of Fenitrothion in various formulations, to UV-irradiation has been also examined. The results are summarized as follows; 1. Xylene and benzene were found to be satisfactory solvents for Fenitrothion emulsifiable concentrate. As expected, polar sol vents such as aliphatic alcohols considerably reduced stability of the pesticides. 2. Of the two non-ionic emulsifiers, an alkyl aryl type Sorpol-1200, in contrast to sorbitan type Tweens, substantially reduced decomposition of Fenitrothion in the emulsifiable concentrates. Moisture and pH of emulsifiers. in the ranges studied. affected little if any. on the stabi ity of the Fenitrothion during the experiment periods. 3. Maleic anhydride, p-toluene sulfonic acid, sulfosalicylic acid, maleic anhydride-sulfosalicylic acid reduced decomposition of Fenitrothion in the emulsifiable concentrate. Addition of organic acids, however, increased liability of Fenitrothion in the emulsifiable concentrate. 4. Presence of either zinc or copper metals in the emulsifiable concentrate containing Tween-80 as a emulsifier, reduced stability of the Fenitrothion. 5. UV-irradiation, as expected, brought decomposition of Fenitrothion. The liability of Fenitrothion formulations decreased in the order, wettable powder ${\gg}$ dust > emulsifiable concentrate.
