언어적 전환과 인문교육 (Linguistic Turn and the Education of Liberal Arts)

  • 본 논문은 인문학이 실용적이지 않다는 선입견에 대해 비판한다. 우선 지식에 대한 최근의 새로운 모형과 그에 따른 교육학 흐름의 변화를 소개한다. 새로운 지식관으로 전체론을, 새로운 교육이론으로 구성주의를 소개한다. 이와 함께 또 하나의 주목할 만한 현상이 '언어적 전환'이다. 언어는 문화의 중요한 요소이지만 문화 자체가 언어적 속성을 지닌다는 점에서 특별한 요소이다. 따라서 문화는 일종의 텍스트로 볼 수 있기 때문에, 문화를 연구대상으로 삼으며 언어와 맥락 등의 이해와 분석을 주로 맡았던 인문학이 세계를 읽고 구성하는데 큰 역할을 담당할 수 있음을 깨달을 수 있다. 인문학 대학원에서의 수업과 같은 전통적인 인문연구 교육방식의 회복이 현재의 사회 변화에 적절한 새로운 '실용성'을 만족시킬 수 있음을 보이려 한다. 다만 학문적 기여가 중요하다. 또한 '지식기반사회'라는 새로운 환경은 또 다른 이유로 이 글의 주장을 강화한다. 지식의 빠른 변화는 종래의 암기식, 주입식 교육보다 지식의 통합과 재구성을 통한 문제해결 능력을 기르는 교육을 요구하기 때문이다.

차량 접근 경고 시스템을 위한 에너지 효율적 자가 구성 센서 네트워크 모델 (An Energy-Efficient Self-organizing Hierarchical Sensor Network Model for Vehicle Approach Warning Systems (VAWS))

  • 차량 접근 경고 시스템(VAWS: Vehicle Approach Warning Systems)은 급커브 구간에 진입하는 차량에게 반대편 차선의 차량 진입 정보를 운전자에게 제공하여 사고 위험을 줄이는데 도움을 주기 위한 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 VAWS를 위한 IEEE 802.15.4 기반 계층구조 센서 네트워크 모델을 제안한다. 제안하는 네트워크 모델에서 토폴로지 제어 프로토콜은 네트워크의 생존시간을 지속시킬 수 있도록 자가 구성(self-organizing) 방식으로 트리 기반 토폴로지를 형성한다. 또한, 간단하면서도 효율적인 라우팅 프로토콜은 이 토폴로지를 기반으로 라우팅 테이블을 구성하고 센서 노드에서 생성된 데이터 패킷을 노변 경고 메시지 디스플레이와 연결되어 있는 베이스 스테이션까지 멀티홉 방식으로 전달한다. 이 프로토콜들은 기존의 IEEE 802.15.4 MAC계층에 포함된 확장 MAC 형태로 설계되며, 급커브 구간을 모델링한 시나리오에서의 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안하는 네트워크 모델이 에너지 효율 및 네트워크 처리량 면에서 높은 성능을 나타냄을 보인다.

지방부 교차로의 도로설계 안전성 판단 알고리즘 구축을 위한 AMF 개발 (신호교차로를 중심으로) (Development of Accident Modification Factors for Road Design Safety Evaluation Algorithm of Rural Intersections)

  • 도로설계 안전성을 평가하기 위해서는 도로의 설계 요소변화가 사고에 미치는 영향을 예측할 수 있어야 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 통계적 방법, 사고이력, 전문가의 판단, 그리고 기존문헌고찰 등 다양한 방법을 통하여, 설계요소의 특징과 사고율 및 사고빈도의 관계를 반영할 수 있는 AMF(Accident Modification Factor)를 개발하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 AMF를 좌회전전용차로, 우회전전용차로, 시거, 교차각 등의 항목을 대상으로 개발하였다. 개발된 AMF를 적용한 경우의 사고 예측값, 사고예측모형을 통한 예측값을 실제 사고데이터와 비교분석함으로써 적정성을 검토하였다. 분석결과, AMF를 적용한 예측값이 사고예측모형을 통한 예측 값보다 예측력이 우수함을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 사고를 예측함으로써 도로설계 안전성을 평가하는 알고리즘에 있어 AMF가 도로의 설계요소의 특성을 보다 효과적으로 반영하며, 지방부 교차로에서 각각의 해당요소가 사고에 미치는 영향을 판단할 수 있는 지표가 될 수 있음을 의미한다.

A Numerical Study of Stellar Bars and Nuclear Rings in Barred Galaxies

  • To study the formation and evolution of stellar bars and gaseous nuclear rings in barred galaxies in realistic environments, we run fully self-consistent three-dimensional simulations of isolated disk galaxies. We consider two groups of models with cold or warm disks that differ in the radial velocity dispersion. We also vary the gas fraction of the disks. We found that a bar forms earlier and more strongly as the gas fraction increases in the cold disks, while the gas delays the bar formation in the warm disks. The bar formation enhances a central mass concentration which in turn weakens the bar strength temporarily, after which the bar regrows to become stronger in a model with a smaller gas fraction in both cold and warm disks. Although all bars rotate fast in the beginning, they rapidly turn to slow rotators. Gas infalling to the central region forms a dense star-forming nuclear ring. The ring size is very small when it first forms and grows over time. The ring star formation is episodic and bursty due to star formation feedback, and has a good correlation with the mass inflow rate to the ring. Some expanding shells produced by star formation feedback are sheared out in the bar regions and collide with dust lanes to appear as filamentary interbar spurs.

Swerve, Trope, Peripety: Turning Points in Criticism and Theory

  • The turning point is one of the more evocative concepts in the critic's arsenal, as it is equally suited to the evaluation and analysis of a given moment in one's day as to those of a historical event. But how does one recognize a turning point? As we find ourselves always "in the middest," both spatially and temporally, we inhabit sites that may be points at which many things may be seen to turn. Indeed, it is usually only possible to identify a turning point, as it were, from a distance, from the remove of space and time which allows for a sense of recognition, based in part on original context and in part of perceived effects. In this article, Robert T. Tally Jr. argues that the apprehension and interpretation of a turning point involves a fundamentally critical activity. Examining three models by which to understand the concept of the turning point-the swerve, the trope, and peripety (or the dialectical reversal)-Tally demonstrates how each represents a different way of seeing the turning point and its effects. Thus, the swerve is associated with a point of departure for a critical project; the trope is connected to continuous and sustained critical activity in the moment, and peripety enables a retrospective vision that, in turn, inform future research. Tally argues for the significance of the turning point in literary and cultural theory, and concludes that the identification, analysis, and interpretation of turning points is crucial to the project of criticism today.

인공지능기법을 이용한 기업부도 예측 (Forecasting Corporate Bankruptcy with Artificial Intelligence)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate financial models that can predict corporate bankruptcy with diverse studies on evaluation models. The study uses discriminant analysis, logistic model, decision tree, neural networks as analyses tools with 18 input variables as major financial factors. The study found meaningful variables such as current ratio, return on investment, ordinary income to total assets, total debt turn over rate, interest expenses to sales, net working capital to total assets and it also found that prediction performance of suggested method is a bit low compared to that in literature review. It is because the studies in the past uses the data set on the listed companies or companies audited from outside. And this study uses data on the companies whose credibility is not verified enough. Another finding is that models based on decision tree analysis and discriminant analysis showed the highest performance among many bankruptcy forecasting models.

Random Parameters 음이항 모형을 이용한 신호교차로 교통사고 모형개발에 관한 연구 -대전광역시를 대상으로 - (Traffic Accident Models using a Random Parameters Negative Binomial Model at Signalized Intersections: A Case of Daejeon Metropolitan Area)

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to develop a crash prediction model at signalized intersections, which can capture the randomness and uncertainty of traffic accident forecasting in order to provide more precise results. METHODS : The authors propose a random parameter (RP) approach to overcome the limitation of the Count model that cannot consider the heterogeneity of the assigned locations or road sections. For the model's development, 55 intersections located in the Daejeon metropolitan area were selected as the scope of the study, and panel data such as the number of crashes, traffic volume, and intersection geometry at each intersection were collected for the analysis. RESULTS : Based on the results of the RP negative binomial crash prediction model developed in this study, it was found that the independent variables such as the log form of average annual traffic volume, presence or absence of left-turn lanes on major roads, presence or absence of right-turn lanes on minor roads, and the number of crosswalks were statistically significant random parameters, and this showed that the variables have a heterogeneous influence on individual intersections. CONCLUSIONS : It was found that the RP model had a better fit to the data than the fixed parameters (FP) model since the RP model reflects the heterogeneity of the individual observations and captures the inconsistent and biased effects.

  • Autologistic lattice process is used to model binary spatial data. A conditional probability is derived for the incomplete data where the lattice consists of partially yet systematically observed sites. This result, which is interesting in its own right, is in turn applied to area prediction in the plane.

  • VHDL has been. widely used in modeling and simulation of hardware designs. However, complex relationship between components of the designs makes the VHDL modeling problem very difficult. Furthermore, after the initial creation of VHDL models, they evolve into many versions over their lifetime. To cope with such difficulties, this paper proposes a new methodology for the management of VHDL models supporting versions. Its conceptual bases are system entity structure and relational database. Within the methodology, a family of hierarchical structures of a design is organized in the form of VHDL model structure. It is, in turn, represented in the form of relational tables. Once the model structure is built in such a way, a specific simulation model which meets design objective is pruned from the model structure. The details of VHDL codes are systematically synthesized by combining it with the primitive models in a model base. These algorithms are also defined in terms of relational algebraic operations.

Survival of the Insulator under the electrical stress condition at cryogenic temperature

  • We have clearly investigated with respect to the survival of the insulator at cryogenic temperature under the electrical stress. The breakdown and voltage-time characteristics of turn-to-turn models for point contact geometry and surface contact geometry using copper multi wrapped with polyimide film for an HTS transformer were investigated under AC and impulse voltage at 77 K. Polyimide film (Kapton) 0.025 mm thick is used for multi wrapping of the electrode. As expected, the breakdown voltages for the surface contact geometry are lower than that of the point contact geometry, because the contact area of the surface contact geometry is lager than that of the point contact geometry. The time to breakdown t50 decreases as the applied voltage is increased, and the lifetime indices increase slightly as the number of layers is increased. The electric field amplitude at the position where breakdown occurs is about 80 % of the maximum electric field value. The relationship between survival probability and the electrical stress at cryogenic temperature was evident.
