Development of an accurate infrared signature (IR) measurement system is expected to contribute in the development of low observable technology and the spectroscopic analysis of electromagnetic radiation. Application of a spectroradiometer (SR) allows for the measurement of detailed infrared signature from the exhaust plume due to its own heat source. Establishment of a measurement system using a micro-turbo engine is intended to simulate the modelling of the aircraft plume. The engine was installed on a test stand to measure the engine performance. The IR signature was measured by placing the SR perpendicular to the axis line of the exhaust plume. Reference data from the blackbody were also measured to calibrate the raw data, and the infrared signature of the background was also measured for comparison with that of the plume. The calibrated spectral radiance was obtained through the data reduction process and the results were analyzed in specific bands. The experiments revealed that the measurement system established here showed sufficient performance for further comprehensive analysis.

Experimental study has been a general way to evaluate inlet and exhaust duct performances, but this is not only costly but also time consuming. Computational simulation is hence replacing experimental study and consequently time and cost saving. This paper therefore aims to investigate typical component performance of the intake and exhaust ducts using 3D representation. In this study a specific inlet and exhaust was modeled and analyzed to estimate its losses and flow field using computational fluid dynamic program with flow visualization capabilities. A process that requires geometry data to be modeled. That allowed for possibility of design trade off in designing phase. Installed performance of a specific turbo shaft engine was finally evaluated with the estimated inlet, exhaust and other accessories losses.

In this literature, we are introduce a basic design of multi energy hub based on natural gas governor station. Multi energy hub consists of turbo expender generator, phosphoric acid fuel cell, pressure swing adsorption, H2 charging station, utilities and etc. We design a hybrid energy hub system that provides energy using these complex energies, and calculates the amount of electricity that can be produced and the amount of hydrogen charged through the process analysis. TEG and phosphoric acid fuel cell produce 2,290 to 2,380 kW and can supply electricity to 500 houses. In addition, By-product H2 gas is refined to H2 vehicle fuel. This will help maximize the balance of energy demand and supply and improve national energy efficiency by integrating unused decompression energy power generation technology and various power generation/heat source technologies.

The waste gate valve (WGV) for gasoline vehicles operate in a harsh high-temperature environment. Hence, WGVs are typically made of Inconel 713C, which is a type of Ni-based superalloy. Recently, the metal injection molding (MIM) process has attracted considerable attention for parts used under high-temperature conditions. In this study, an MIM analysis for the head and other parts of the WGV is conducted using a commercial CAE program Moldflow. Further, optimal manufacturing conditions are determined by analyzing flow characteristics at various injection times and locations. Moreover, to improve the accuracy of the analysis results, we compare the actual temperature of the mold during injection processing with that observed through the analysis. As the results, metal injection patterns of analysis are well in accord with these of short shot test. And the temperature variations of analysis is also very similar with those of feedstock when metal injection molding.

Recently, needs for UAVs and small aircraft and small turbo jet or turbo fan engines for these air-crafts are increasing. Size and weight are the two main restrictions in small air-crafts such as UAV or VLJ propulsion system applications. Therefore, high power density is required in small size and designers come up with unconventional solutions in the design of small aero gas turbine engines. One of the solutions is the usage of highly loaded axial compressors. This paper introduces an aerodynamic design method of a highly loaded axial compressor and its review process. Numerical simulation has been carried out to assess the aerodynamic performance of the compressor.

The propellants are burned in the pre-burner of the staged combustion cycle engine, and the resulting hot gas drives the turbine, and the turbine operates the turbo pump. The burned gas passing through the turbo pump is supplied to the combustor at high temperature and high pressure, where the gas is supplied in an excess of fuel or an excess of oxidant depending on the amount of fuel or oxidant. When the cycle works at oxidizer-rich staged combustion, its metal pipe can ignite or explode by the impact of even small particles. In this study, we develop the powder combinations for anti-oxidation coating through the analysis of other coating materials and establish the coating process.

Low density parity check (LDPC) code, first introduced by Gallager and re-discovered by MacKay et al, has attracted researcher's interest mainly due to their performance and low decoding complexity. It was remarkable that the performance is very close to Shannon capacity limit under the assumption of having long codeword length and iterative decoder. However, comparing to turbo codes widely used in the current mobile communication, the encoding complexity of LDPC codes has been regarded as the drawback. This paper proposes a solution for DVB-S2 LDPC encoder to reduce the encoder latency. We use the fast IRA encoder that use the transformation of the parity check matrix into block-wise form and the partial parallel process to reduce the number of system clocks for the IRA code encoding. We compare the proposed encoder with the current DVB-S2 encoder to show that the performance of proposal is better than that of the current DVB-S2 encoder.
Microbulbifer agarilyticus GP101 was isolated from the gut of a marine invertebrate Turbo cornutus and capable of degrading polysaccharide such as agar, alginate, and ${\kappa}$-carrageenan constituting algal cell wall. To obtain genomic basis of polysaccharide-degrading activity, we sequenced genome of strain GP101. The genome consists of 4,255,625 bp, 3,458 coding sequences with 55.4% G + C contents. BLASTP search revealed the presence of seven agarases, five alginate lyases, ten glucanases, four chitinases, two xylanases, one ${\kappa}$-carrageenase, and one laminarinase. The genomic data of strain GP101 will provide potential uses in the bioconversion process of diverse polysaccharide into bioenergy and biochemicals.

The Miller cycle is a diesel engine that has been developed in recent years that it can reduce NOx and improve fuel consumption by reducing the compression ratio through intake valve closing (IVC) time control. The Miller cycle can be divided into the early Miller method of closing the intake valve before the bottom dead center (BDC) and the late Miller method of closing the intake valve after the BDC. At low speeds, the late Miller method is advantageous as it can increase the volumetric efficiency; while at medium and high speeds, the early Miller method is advantageous because of the high internal temperature reduction effect due to the expansion of the intake air during the piston lowering from IVC to BDC. Therefore, in consideration of the ef ects of the early and late Miller methods, it is necessary to adopt the most suitable Miller method for the operating conditions. In this study, a two-stage turbo charge system was applied to four-stroke engines and the process of enhancing the Miller effect through a reduction of the intake and exhaust valve overlap as well as the valve change adjustment mechanism were considered. As a result, the ef ects of fuel consumption and Tmax reduction were confirmed by adopting the Miller cycle with a two-stage supercharge, a reduction of valve overlap, and an increase of suction valve lift.

Recently, investment in the aerospace industry has increased, and titanium alloys have been widely adopted for manufacturing parts in the aerospace industry. The Ti-6Al-4V alloy has high strength in high-temperature and high-pressure environments and is evaluated as a material with excellent heat, corrosion, and abrasion. However, titanium alloys are expensive, difficult to cut, and possess a large cutting load during the drilling process. In this study, the cutting force generated in the drilling process of Ti-6Al-4V alloy was verified via finite element analysis (FEM) and cutting force measurement experiments. A structural analysis was performed based on the cutting analysis data to verify the plastic deformation occurring during the drilling process of cylindrical Ti-6Al-4V alloy aircraft parts. Methods were proposed to predict the amount of deformation that occur during the manufacturing process of titanium-alloy aircraft parts and control the external environment, to minimize the amount of deformation.
