  • Stationary and rotating blades can be found in a steam turbine generator and the airfoil shapes of these blades can be defined by point data from an aerodynamic design system. The main design process of blades is composed of two steps: first, the blade surface is modeled with the point data; and then, the section data is generated which contains composite curves with line segments and arcs for CAE of the blade. The surface is modeled by a curve-net defined by the point data, which may be extended to obtain the section data to model the blade. This paper presents methods for automating the above-mentioned steps, which have been implemented in the commercial CAD/CAM system, Unigraphics, with API functions written in C-language. Finally, the proposed methods have been applied to model the blade of a steam turbine generator.

  • The sudden shock of repeated oil crisis and the subsequent violent increases in petroleum prices have given rise to an intensive worldwide effort to develop alternate sources of clean energy. Against this background, a great deal of attention has recently come to be focused on mini-scale hydroelectric power turbine generation. There is now a strong demand for the development of a hydroelectric generator suitable for generating power on a small scale and copable of overcoming the high per kilowatt cost of conventional one's then Francis turbine. Hence was accordingly developed the "Cross flowturbine generator" of 1000kw and less, which we call. This mimi-scale water turbine is reliably and easily handled and also can be economicaly manufactored in a range with effective head of over 3meter's a flow rate of minimum 30 liter per sec and an output of below 1000kw good's.kw good's.

  • In this paper, a power control algorithm for a 30 kW horizontal-axis lift-type stall control wind turbine was developed. The control algorithm consists of three different control strategies for three different control regions. At a wind speed that is much lower than the rated wind speed, it uses a generator speed, generator torque lookup table to track the maximum power coefficient of the rotor. At a wind speed that is higher than the rated wind speed, multiple closed control loops are used to track the rated power. Also, a closed-loop control between the two control regions is used to maintain the rated speed of the rotor. The proposed control algorithm was validated by dynamic simulations using Bladed. Based on the simulation results, it was found that the proposed algorithm works properly in three control regions of the wind turbine. The proposed control algorithm is expected to increase the capacity factor of stall-regulated small wind turbines.

  • In this paper, a maximum output power control of stand-alone cage-type induction generator systems for wind power generation is proposed. The induction generator is operated in a vector-controlled mode, which is excited with d-axis current and of which torque is controlled with q-axis current. The generator speed is controlled by this torque, along which speed the generator produces the maximum output power. The generated power charges the battery bank for energy storage through an ac/dc PWM converter. The proposed scheme has been verified for the wind turbine simulator system which consists of M-G set.

  • Response speed of generator/control system kas increased with the aid of the development of power electronics. Even though it is desirable to enhance response speed for the control system(AVR/Gov) of generator itself, in case a certain generator/control system with high response excitation system is connected with bulk power system, terminal voltage and active power of some generators can oscillate with adjoining generators or near area when even a little of disturbance take place. PSS(Power System Stabilizer) is used to damp rotor swing by adding the supplementary signal in phase with speed. As the stable AVR response is very important before PSS is installed, modeling and analysis of generator/control system was performed. Next we have analysed PSS response of Hanlim's gas turbine by transmission line open/close test.

  • In this paper, a 1.5 kW Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (IPMSG) with a power conditioner for the grid integration of a variable-speed wind turbine is developed. The power-conditioning system consists of a series-type 12-pulse diode rectifier powered by a phase shifting transformer and then cascaded to a PWM voltage source inverter. The PWM inverter is utilized to supply sinusoidal currents to the utility line by controlling the active and reactive current components in the q-d rotating reference frame. While the q-axis active current of the PWM inverter is regulated to follow an optimized active current reference so as to track the maximum power of the wind turbine. The d-axis reactive current can be adjusted to control the reactive power and voltage. In order to track the maximum power of the wind turbine, the optimal active current reference is determined by using a simple MPPT algorithm which requires only three sensors. Moreover, the phase angle of the utility voltage is detected using a simple electronic circuit consisting of both a zero-crossing voltage detecting circuit and a counter circuit employed with a crystal oscillator. At the generator terminals, a passive filter is designed not only to decrease the harmonic voltages and currents observed at the terminals of the IPMSG but also to improve the generator efficiency. The laboratory results indicate that the losses in the IPMSG can be effectively reduced by setting a passive filter at the generator terminals.

  • Because the tonal sound of the underwater noise in a naval vessel can be identified from the sub-marine of the enemy, it should be reduced sufficiently. This kind of the noise usually comes from the structure-borne noise of the onboard machine and transfers to the sea through the hull of the ship. The vibration at the high frequency can be reduced sufficiently with damping material. In this paper, the damping coefficient of the steel plate with damping sheet is evaluated by experiment. Using these evaluated properties, the numerical analysis is performed in order to evaluate how much vibration of the generator can be reduced applying damping sheet on the encloser and base of it.

  • Subsynchronous Resonance is a condition where the electrical power systems composed of generator and transmission line exchange energy with mechanical turbine-generator system at the frequency of the combined below the subsynchronous frequency. Therefore, the frequency of power systems should be associated with the subsynchronous resonance. This paper describes subsynchronous resonance by flexible frequency operation. It focuses on the characteristics and behavior of subsynchronous resonance. The subsynchronous resonance is being conducted by real-time digital simulator and the IEEE benchmark model for subsynchronous resonance have been utilized for the test systems.

  • This study introduces the wind turbine (W/T) noise evaluation procedure required in the international standard (IEC 61400-11) and monitoring system for the evaluation. Noise emission characteristics of a 750kW W/T generator is investigated. Test and evaluation are performed on J48 W/T model which is under operation in Daekwanryung Wind Test Site. With the noise signal, meteorological data and W/T operational data are monitored in real time by the integrated monitoring system using LabVIEW. From the measured noise data, acoustic power level and tonality of the W/T are estimated under the wind speeds required by the international standard.
