  • Recently, Open Course Ware service area which offers free lecture materials has been steadily growing. This change comes from a paradigm shift of education service caused by the progress of ICT and a role change of consumers. Knowledge creation from higher educational institutions is slow compared to change of society. Therefore, consumers escape from one-sided education, and perform a new role of knowledge generation. Nevertheless, there is not much of academic research of Open Course Ware. Consequently, the paper is dedicated to empirical study on effect of perceived value, information system quality and brand trust on intention to continuous use. As implications for the research, as a practical point of view, the results-an economic side that offers contents for free of charge, a contents side that is fresh, various and substantial, a systematic side that makes customers to use the system easily, a service side which takes charge of customers support and brand trust affect satisfaction and intention to continuous use - can be used for establishment of executive strategies.

  • This study is to investigate the relationships between R&D collaboration and competitive advantage in Korean international venture firms from the perspective of resource-based theory, organizational learning and network theory. The R&D collaboration is divided into vertical cooperation within the value chain and horizontal cooperation beyond value chain. The first key finding from empirical analysis is that both vertical and horizontal R&D collaborations have significantly positive impacts on technology based competitive advantages. The vertical R&D collaboration has more impacts on competitive advantages than horizontal R&D collaboration. This suggests that R&D collaboration with purchasers and suppliers plays a greater role for venture organizations' competitiveness. Second, the potential knowledge based absorption capacity and mutual goodwill trust also work significantly to reinforce the positive influences of R&D collaboration to the competitive advantage. This implies that mutual trust between partners participating in collaboration and absorption capacity within venture organizations would strengthen the effectiveness of R&D cooperation. This study provides the practical implications that the performance and effectiveness of R&D collaboration may rely on the nature of cooperation partners and internal organization capability.

  • It is important to reduce unnecessary overhead in sensor network using battery. In addition encryption is important because of necessity of security. Since unavoidable overhead occurs in case of encryption, security and overhead are in trade-off condition. In this paper, we use a concept called trust to reduce the encryption overhead. We reduce overhead by controlling encryption key sizes while maintaining the security level where high and low trust nodes are mixed. We simulated and compared normal encryption and trust value based encryption. As a result, the latter has lower execution time and overhead. If we define a standard of trust levels considering purpose and circumstances of real network, we can use constrained resources efficiently in sensor network.

  • With the appearance of Bitcoin that builds peer-to-peer networks for transaction of digital content and issuance of cryptocurrency, lots of blockchain networks have been developed to improve transaction performance. Recently, Joseph Lubin discussed Decentralization Transaction per Second (DTPS) against alleviating the value of biased TPS. However, this Lubin's trust model did not enough consider a security issue in scalability trilemma. Accordingly, we proposed a trust metric based on blockchain size, stale block rate, and average block size, using a sigmoid function and convex optimization. Via numerical analysis, we presented the optimal blockchain size of popular blockchain networks and then compared the proposed trust metric with the Lubin's trust model. Besides, Bitcoin based blockchain networks such as Litecoin were superior to Ethereum for trust satisfaction and data volume.

Based on the challenge, the study's purpose is to discover the effect of social support (informational and emotional support) on the SCI. The study also explores the mediation effect of trust and the moderation impact of culture between the USA and Korea. Design/methodology - This study used a sample of 482 surveys filled out by online shoppers from the US and Korea, two countries with divergent cultural values. Structural equation modelling (SEM) is used to analyze the hypothetical paths. In addition, bootstrapping and multi-group analysis are perform to view mediation and moderation effects respectively. Findings - The results of our study shows that both informational and emotional support significantly influences trust and SCI. Our results also supports the mediating effect of trust in social support and the moderating effect of culture in forming SCI. Originality/value - Our empirical results provide important information to businesses formulating cross-cultural SC strategies. This will help SC companies to analyze the aspects of customer trust through social support, which in turn will increase SCI and thereby established a competitive position for SCs. Our results will also be holistic directions for SC vendors in cross-cultural settings, which will offer important social and economic contributions to the sustainable growth of SC's business.

  • Social networking services (SNSs) serve to strengthen people's social relationships by providing ways for people to utilize such relationships especially like workplace. With the development of the internet worldwide, the number of SNS users is rapidly growing and a wider range of service types have become available. In this study, we designed a research model with a focus on what makes people use SNSs at workplace and how it is associated with changes in relationship quality and their intention to continue using the services and analyzed data collected for the research model. Theoretically, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation was invoked and measured, in terms of hedonic and utilitarian values, and satisfaction and trust were adopted as variables of relationship quality. Data were collected from Facebook users using workplace, and a partial least squares (PLS) analysis was made on 188 data points. The analysis results showed that two forms of motivation-hedonic and utilitarian-are separated from each other in their influence and that utilitarian value is more important than hedonic value, especially when it comes to users' satisfaction. In addition, the analysis found a weak relationship between satisfaction and trust in SNS environments; this was a little different from the results of previous studies.
