  • Cold Forging has advantage in high accuracy and short working time. However large-skzed and complicated parts are difficult to process with cold forging. Thus large-sized and complicated parts have been processed with two pieces, or combind forging that is hot forging in addition to cold sizing. Recently, large-sized and complicated parts can be manufactured with cold forging alone by advanced cold forging technology using the long-stroke press. In this paper, cold forging technology of large-sized and complicated parts are investigated, including tripod slide housing for constant velocity joint and drive shaft for starter.

  • Smartphone users are 15 billion in all round the world, and Korean smartphone users are estimated at 40million people to 83% of the Korean population. Selfie stick is most popular item among 20, 30's age users. And they use smartphones more than 90%. In survey they express inconvenience of using selfie stick. Inconveniences are as follows. * Heavy * Handle is inconvenient. * Mistiming during taking pictures * the range of shooting is not enough. In this paper the first improvement was that rod strength is slightly stronger. The second we divide a grip into 3 parts. If 3 parts are unfolded, these can use for tripod. We use deflection Interpretation for main Finite Elements Method program.

  • Ab initio density functional calculations on the structural isomers, the hydration energies, and the hydrogen bond many-body interactions for gauche-, trans-protonated ethylenediamine-(water)3 complexes (g-enH+(H2O)3, t-enH+(H2O)3) have been performed. The structures and relative stabilities of three representative isomers (cyclic, tripod, open) between g-enH+(H2O)3 and t-enH+(H2O)3 are predicted to be quite different due to the strong interference between intramolecular hydrogen bonding and water hydrogen bond networks in g-enH+(H2O)3. Many-body analyses revealed that the combined repulsive relaxation energy and repulsive nonadditive interactions for the mono-cyclic tripod isomer, not the hydrogen bond cooperativity, are mainly responsible for the greater stability of the bi-cyclic isomer.

  • This study is aimed at observing effects of fingerprint image quality on various photographing conditions in the aspect of resolution. Discrimination between two friction ridges plays an important role in the value of fingerprint image, and it can be confirmed with quantification of pixels of boundary region which is existing between two friction ridges. In this study, several factors were estimated with same fingerprint image using Adobe photoshop CS 6 for analysis: changes of image quality by ISO, movement when photographing, and photographers' experience and skill. Consequently, there was no significant change of image quality by ISO. Furthermore, there was no significant difference in the hand-held images between crime scene investigators and laymen, yet there was significant difference between hand-held images and images using tripod in the aspect of resolution. This study shows that using tripod is very important in forensic fingerprint photography through empirical methods.

  • As the turbine capacity and the water depth of wind farms are increasing, the construction cost of substructures and foundations for offshore wind turbines is expected to increase. Since the installation of suction bucket foundation is achieved by both self-weight and applied suction, the construction generally does not require heavy equipment for penetration. This study provides an economic analysis on the tripod which have the bucket foundations and compares that the jacket foundation at 50m water depth on sand layer or soft layer. As the strength of the soil and the number of the foundation is increasing, the construction cost of the tripod with the bucket foundations is more economically feasible than the jacket foundation.

  • Fluosilicate salts based hydration heat reducer(SWP-HR), used in this study, is composed of fluosilicate salts, soluble silica, aromatic polymer condensate and nitrate salt based inorganic compound with latent heat property. Effects of SWP-HR addition on the hydration heat and anti-crack property of cement mortar were investigated. Adiabatic hydration temperature and drying shrinkage length of SWP-HR added cement mortar had a tendency to decrease compared to those of cement mortar without SWP-HR addition. Also, it was confirmed through crack pattern experiment of plate-form specimen for elucidating crack-reducing characteristic that anti-crack property of SWP-HR added cement mortar was improved.

  • Multi-member lattice-type structures including jackets and tripods are being considered as good alternatives to monopile foundations for relatively deep water of 25-50 m of water depth owing to their technical and economic feasibility. In this study, the reliability analysis of bottom-fixed offshore wind turbines with monopile and/or multi-member lattice-type foundations is carried out and the sensitivities of random variables such as material properties, external wind loadings and scouring depth are compared with respect to different types of foundations. Numerical analysis of the NREL 5 MW wind turbine supported by monopile, tripod and jacket substructures shows that the uncertainties of soil properties affect the reliability index more significantly for the monopile-supported OWTs while the reliability index is not so sensitive to the material properties in the cases of tripod- and jacket-supported OWTs. In conclusion, the reliability analysis can be preliminarily carried out without considering soil-pile-interaction in the cases of tripod- and jacket-supported OWTs while it is very important to use the well-measured soil properties for reliable design of monopile-supported OWTs.

  • The collision behaviors of the tripod and jacket structures, which are considered as support structures for offshore wind towers at the Southwest sea of Korea, were compared by nonlinear dynamic analysis. These structures, designed for the 3 MW capacity of the wind towers, were modeled using shell elements with nonlinear behaviors, and the tower structure including the nacelle, was modeled by beam and mass elements with elastic materials. The mass of the tripod structure was approximately 1.66 times that of the jacket structure. A barge and commercial ship were modeled as the collision vessel. To consider the tidal conditions in the region, the collision levels were varied from -3.5 m to 3.5 m of the mean sea level. In addition, the collision behaviors were evaluated as increasing the minimum collision energy at the collision speed (=2.6 m/s) of each vessel by four times, respectively. Accordingly, the plastic energy dissipation ratios of the vessel were increased as the stiffness of collision region. The deformations in the wind tower occurred from vibration to collapse of conditions. The tripod structure demonstrated more collision resistance than the jacket structure. This is considered to be due to the concentrated centralized rigidity and amount of steel utilized.
